"Shit!" Ashlyn cursed in frustration as she tried starting her car again but it wasn't working.
'Why does it have to be now? Why here? Oh God!' She complained in her head as she face-palmed herself and sighed. Thinking of what to do she took her phone and was about dialing Clara's number but then she saw her network barβ it was showing no service.
"Argh!" She hit her steering multiple times in frustration before resting her head on it. What was she going to do now? She couldn't reach anyone and this road was lonely. How sure was she that someone might pass here tonight and help her out? Yes, it was a probability of zero.
An idea popped in her head and she decided to walk. Maybe she would see someone to help or maybe she would be able to leave this lonely road all by herself, she wasn't certain but one thing was on her mind β no matter what, she had to leave here.
Coming down from her car she closed the door and looked round at her surrounding. Indeed, it was really lonely and creepy. Though, she was scared, she couldn't help but try to bury it within her and find a solution.
Taking a deep breath, Ashlyn started walking forward slowly while turning her head to the direction of any little sounds she hears. Suddenly, after taking more than ten steps if counting, she heard a loud scream from the bush and immediately turned her head to the direction of the voice as fear gripped her heart.
'What was that sound? Was someone in trouble or...?' No, the voice didn't sound like someone was in trouble, it was a feminine voice screaming in pain. What was happening? She needed to find out, maybe she could be of help to whoever might need it. So she thought and was about changing her direction but halted in her steps when she heard the sound for the second time.
'What are my trying to do? What if I get into trouble rather than helping out of trouble? I don't know what's happening so what are the chances that I would be able to help?' Her mind scolded her.
Thinking about it, she was totally confused. What if she really gets into trouble? How was she going to escape? Deciding against going to find out what is happening she turned back her head and started walking forward again. Just after taking two steps, she heard the scream again and this time she just couldn't control herself again.
Changing her focus again, she walked into the bush trying to follow the direction the scream came from. Her feet was shaking in fear just like her heart but right now, she had to suppress the fear with any strength she could muster inorder to find out what was happening.
Entering further into the bush, she couldn't see anything or anyone. She waited for the scream again but it didn't happen. Turning her head while looking round, she couldn't trace where she entered from. It was now her mind screamed at her; 'You're lost.'
She really was lost. The voice she followed wasn't coming forth anymore and the way she came in she didn't try to take note of it for a situation like this. How was she going to go back now? Was she in trouble already? Turning back to look for her way out, she heard a noise coming behind her from the bushes and she turned back.
Her feet rooted on the ground as she waited to see what was making that noise and just a few seconds later she heard more noises coming towards her direction. She didn't know what it was or rather what they were, the only thing on her mind now was getting away from here.
Just as she was about to raise her leg, she finally saw what made her heart jump in fear. She saw a human figure with red eyes, she couldn't see his face clearly because of the darkness but her eyes caught the red substance that stained his lips.
Ashlyn was trembling in fear and then she saw two other figures come out from that direction again. Their eyes looked similar β pale red and her eyes fell on their lips, it had the stains of the red substance. What was that?
"Another one tonight!"
Ashlyn heard one of the figure say. She didn't understand what he meant by his statement.
"I guess tonight is our lucky night."
"I'm glad I came out for hunting. She's a perfect feast."
Ashlyn heard the two other figures. What were they talking about? Hunting? Tonight? Why will anybody go out for hunting this late in the night? She asked herself. Or was she getting their statement wrong? Were they talking about hunting or they meant a different thing?
Their eyes were shining with something she couldn't figure out. 'Lust,' that was what she saw in them but it was a different kind. They were not lusting after her sexually, it was something else.
Right now, she didn't want to think about it but it was already obvious, whatever this figures were, they were definitely going to hurt her. Just like she feared, she was in trouble and now how would she escape.
She couldn't trace back where she came from but was that really necessary right now? No it wasn't. If she could escape these three figures right now then finding her way back to her car would be a minor issue. Thinking of only one possible solution right now, she took to her heel in fear and determination of escaping.
"Ha ha ha! Should we go after her?" One of the men said.
"Let her run for five seconds, she can't escape anyways." Another one answered.
"The first prey was also stubborn. That's the joy of hunting, catching a big stubborn prey." The last one said and they all laughed.
Ashlyn heard what they said but she couldn't look back. All she wanted to do now was run as fast as her legs could carry her to only God knows where. As long as she could get away from here tonight she was never going to use this road again. Now that she was thinking about it, she wouldn't have been in this situation if she had taken the highway.
Throwing away all 'if's and had's' out her mind she continued running but stumbled on a gnarled trunk and fell. Trying to pick herself up to continue running but her body gave her away.
'God! Am I going to end up like this?' She said In her head
