Chapter 33 - Kurisunetamayo, The Priest Of Nezura

Kurisunetamayo herself explained that they were able to talk using their voices in the past, but due to the more efficient method of just using telepathy to send their message to one another, they just started to speak less and less until they were completely mute.

Even at this moment, the nezuras was still capable of verbal speech, but it might be much more incoherent than the white noise that Nagan and Owen heard when attempting to communicate telepathically.

It took quite the effort to interpret what the nezuras were actually saying, despite the fact that their speech had already been translated into a familiar tongue.

The disparity of grammatical rules from a simple thought to speech language with the nezura's unfathomable white noise was beyond staggering. Thankfully, both Nagan and Owen possessed enough accumulated braincells to decipher their awfully conveyed story.

To start simply, the nezuras were part of the inhabitants within the world of Kaythu. Just like humans, nezura managed to thrive and evolve into what they currently were after going through a nearly equal history with that of the human race. They invent their own unique technology, create civilization, set their sails against the gales, claiming strange and bountiful new horizons.

Aside from their similarity to humans in terms of progression, their world was filled with spiritual power, where true deities and intelligent apparitions interact with nature and its inhabitants.. Nagan was actually on the mark when he compared the mouse people with the likes of youkai legends on Earth.

They were ageless, and they stopped aging physically after reaching a certain number of years. While they were closer to mammals when it comes to bodily function, their species reproduced by having two nezuras with close bonds to shed a part of their soul to form a new young.

To them, the soul is the true form of sentient. Which was reflected with how they build their technology and culture. Everything within reality, both animate and inanimate possessed some shed of a soul, and to interact and manipulate these souls were trained and blessed nezura individuals referred as the 'Priests' in human tongue.

Kurisunetamayo was one of those priests. To bless her people, converse with the local deities, and to bend nature to her will is her job as a priest.

At some point, the world of Kaythu was struck by the same apocalypse that happened here on Earth. Vile monsters spawned from rifts and portals, some even tear the landscape and turn one of their populated regions into a no nezura's land.

In the effort of preserving themselves as a species, Kurisunetamayo called upon the deities of the world to lay passage into a foreign world of the same nature and landscape as Kaythu. But just before the ritual was complete, their underground shelter was brutally infiltrated by the invaders of their world.

The accuracy of the passage-ward travel was diminished due to the hastened ritual. And by the end of it, only 102 surviving nezuras under the leadership of Kurisunetamayo managed to enter the portal before it was shut forever.

Due to their sheer luck, they landed here on Earth at the same time where the apocalypse happened in this world. With no resources and time to cultivate the souls of this new land, nor does any connection with the local deities of this world, Kurisunetamayo and the nezuras attempted their best survival effort by being nomadic and moving from place to place every time a disaster was near, while also trying their best to stay under the radar of the native population and this world's apocalyptic invaders.

They arrived here on Earth five days ago, and they barely catched a single rest after coming here.

"Food, deficient, housing, inadequate, rest, devoid," Kurisunetamayo told her story as she sobbed. "Foundation, nowhere, environment, hostile!"

Nagan then looked at Owen who was actually teary hearing the whole story told. Nagan got some suggestions prepared but one of them needed to be consulted with the actual owner of the private realm that contained the Kingdom of Lunatic Kaleidoscope.

"Is there any law for foreign species to inhabit a usalian kingdom as a citizen?"

"Hmm? Well, as long as they vowed to serve the kingdom and its ruler." Owen then realized what her husband wanted to do. "It was done many times in the past, although any integration of foreign species needed to be done thoughtfully, as there were many conflicts regarding the disparity and incompatibility of their race when it comes to living with the usalian."

"Regardless, I'm still thinking of transporting them to the wayward world if you said otherwise. But it seemed like I didn't need to do that."

"So, are we getting a new friend?" Owen said within the soul link with excitement. "Their technology revolving souls and nature is far different than anything that humanity ever touched before. On top of that, they are cute!"

"As much as I want to integrate them into our kingdom, we can't casually just kidnap them. Nagan showed a wry smirk.

Owen was slightly disgruntled with how Nagan didn't just snatch them away immediately, seeing all of the positives it could give.

For the nezuras that had nothing but hurdles in the past few days, giving them a choice without illusion would be the most apt thing a human can give.

Nagan just wanted to ensure that.

"Kurisunetamayo, the Priest of Nezura, after hearing your share of story, I have nothing but two important suggestions that would ensure the living condition and survivability of your species." Nagan raised an index finger. "This world that you're stranded upon is natively inhabited by many, with the human race as the sole advanced civilization of this plane. They are a crude and daring species, but they are empathetic and altruistic.

"Even if you didn't find me today, they will definitely reach you and ask for your cooperation to survive the apocalypse together, and they will eventually thrive in it. If you want, I'll try my best to contact the humans so that they can harbor you in their attempt to fight back against the apocalypse. They might be requesting your cooperation for this but I'll make sure that they won't do anything bad to you as an extra measure.

"That's the first suggestion. On the other hand, there is the second option." Nagan raised another finger. "My name is Nagan Ingram, the Patriarch of the Kingdom of Lunatic Kaleidoscope. Aside from me, we're a race that you want to call 'Usalian'.

"Unlike here on Earth, we live in a private realm where the influence of the apocalypse couldn't reach us. There will be less threat, and we have abundant sources of food and resources that we can share in cooperation. We will also treat you as our own with no discrimination, ensuring your safety and commodity.

"At the same time, you will be taking the same path as us. You will not be a refugee nor a guest, but the veins and beating heart of the kingdom. Meaning, the fate of your species will be the same fate for the kingdom, and the fate of the kingdom will be the fate of your kind.

"To shoulder the same weight and responsibility, to become an extension of each other. We will welcome you as part of ourselves, until you want to detach from us and rebuild your civilization from the ground, which we will aid to the best of our ability. "Nagan closed his fingers, forming a clutch with his hand, before turning it around and reaching out with the same open-hand gesture similar to Kurisunetamayo's. "That's the second option. Regardless of your choice, I shall ensure the longevity of your people, alongside the potential future it might bring."
