Chapter 39 - The Rodents’ Helping Hands

"I guess it takes a while to get used to it," said Thumper, who didn't realize the amount of new friends that she had gotten.

"Don't forget that we mustn't slack off at the slightest..."

"We must remember the first generation's pride..."

"We mustn't let the next generation replace us…"

Charles didn't know why, but the logistic team seemed to be flaming right now. Well, as long as it meant more productivity for the kingdom, she didn't mind their weird behavior.

And so, Nagan made each leader of the team to be soul linked to Kurisunetamayo for better communication. The soul link channel had also been integrated with a better version of the white noise translator, where it didn't need one of its users to be a psycaster to use it.

"Why not make Hoppington and Charles connected to all nezuras instead?" Mako asked after she raised her hand.

"Well, have you ever tried to listen to ten people talking at once?" Nagan playfully replied. "Imagine a hundred of them."

Mako raised her finger and opened her mouth, but halfway through, she realized that her suggestion had been rebuked by her own reasoning and logic, retracting her finger back into a curve as she decided to shut her mouth about the current matter.

Because apparently, Kurisunetamayo deemed that the nezuras weren't reserved enough to talk through the soul link channel in an orderly manner. To put it in perspective, the nezuras might look quiet and adorable, but deep inside, they were similar to husky dogs, where if they were given a chance to talk to other non-huskies, they would bombard them with forced socialization as long as that means of communicating still exists.

To put it in layman terms, the nezuras were actually very talkative and social to one and another

"Still, the communication bridge needs to be improved in the future, as the kingdom grows bigger," Charles commented, "To band together and endeavor, voices and letters must be established to ensure a thriving civilization."

The nezuras could still understand what the usalians were saying, but not vice versa. This might be a vital flaw within a communication but it has been lessened with how the nezuras can just talk to Kurisunetamayo, where the priest can then relay the message to the team leaders afterward.

The nezuras can't perform telepathy over a long distance however, unless the priest attempted the communication in an active manner.

They had also performed a little test on whether the telepathy works if one side was in the homeworld and the other was in the wayward world, in which as long as the portal was opened, a communication could be performed as if those two worlds were two rooms connected to the same hallway.

The nezuras seemed to be really excited about the wayward world.

"And this is our little outpost that the expedition team used as a base," Hoppington said as she guided a group of nezuras into the wayward world. "The barrack is a little bit too small for our current influx of population, but it won't be an extendable matter if we rest in shifts and build more room on the empty space. The walls are built farther from the current corner of infrastructure for that very reason."

The gentle violet visage of the wayward world welcomed its new rodent guests with a new sense of breeze. A sweeter scent of morning dew enveloped the otherworldly scenery.

As planned, 61 nezuras were placed under the care of the expedition team, while the other 61 were sent to the logistic team to further develop the kingdom's infrastructure alongside filling the role of production that couldn't be developed further due to the lack of manpower.

"Hahaha, I can't believe they did that."

"It seems like our passion would only extend as a hobby."

Willow and Mako couldn't believe their eyes as they saw three nezuras standing in front of a tree, placing all their hands towards the tree, and then lifting the whole tree with its roots out from the ground.

Of course, Willow's and Mako's chainsaws still had their uses. Considering that the chainsaw that was gifted by the queen was a high end chainsaw specialized to cut lumber as fast cutting butter, they still had some work in the logging department as the nezuras couldn't sever a part of an object that was binded in a single soul.

Unlike the soil and minerals where the nezuras could freely dig and swim inside the ground as if it was water.

Speaking of swimming inside the ground as if it was water, Immortal Dragon Overlord, Clover, and Pippin were the first ones to see how an underground room could just be formed in just a matter of seconds.

"Tis' is something to behold…"

"Pippin, did you see what I saw?"

"We're literally watching the scene unfold side by side, Clover."

Without much effort, the whole bottom part of the underground had already been hollowed. And using their telekinetic ability to bind the ground above the underground room, any incident involving tension and weight on the ground was deemed null, unless something extremely heavy suddenly fell on top of the outpost.

The vanguards team still didn't have a clue on how to utilize these extra manpower, considering that the nezuras fighting capability without their technology was similar to an untrained usalian who had just been born into the world.

Except that they were expert at making trenches, alongside a pitfall trap with controllable size.

Unfortunately, there wasn't any demand to make trenches at the current situation of the kingdom.

"Hmm, I wonder what we can do to you lots." Karasaki grinned as she caressed her chin. "Considering that our numbers have increased significantly, we need more manpower for hunting the beasts until the kingdom's agriculture is brought into active production."

"Regardless of your idea, I won't be supporting it unless you have a proper reason to voice it out."

"... Just give them crossbows."

Both Hopscotch and Karasaki looked at each other, before shifting their view toward Jingo once again.

"That's actually a good idea."

"That's our Jingo!"

The nezuras in the background could be seen celebrating the enlightenment that the vanguard was having. While the idea was still warm, the member of the vanguards immediately scurried to homeworld to meet with Droste the weapon crafter.

The 20 nezuras could be seen enthusiastically following them like a crowd of seagulls chasing a person with a bread on their hand.

"Twenty crossbows, please~!" Karasaki reached out her hands with all fingers open, alongside Jingo who was doing the same thing beside her.

Droste laid her gaze back to the vanguards that were ordering a large batch of weapon all of a sudden, even though the current model of crossbow was still in its experimental phase, and for it to be wieldable for the nezuras, she needed to tinker her schematic.

Coincidentally, with some of the initial nezuras that were flocking her in curiosity, Droste was trying to get one of them to enhance the material of some tools that she was currently displaying.

Maybe with some nezura helpers, developing an effective long-ranged weapon would be much easier than before.

"Well, I guess all of you might as well help me make it!"
