Chapter 5 - The Magic Guild

For normal people, its rare to be born with the power to control mana and to awaken as a mage. If some one is born with mana control among commoners, their family would be considered one step ahead of commoners and would be treated accordingly.

As for being born into a well famed or noble household without magic is akin to a sentence of death.

In many noble households, infants born without a mana flow or magical capability often face abandonment or, in some tragic cases, are even subjected to being killed by their own parents.

How cruel is that?

I mean just because the baby doesn't have what it takes to lead a life as a mage and someone who uses mana, there could be many other stuff they could do.

I consider family is something to be cherished and if you lost it, you wouldn't be able to find it again.

Even if I have lost my mother, thanks to my father who took me in as his own son, I was given another chance to have a family relationship.

My father, Samuel Dainsleif, holds the esteemed position of Guild Master in the Luton City Magic Guild.

He hails from a common regular family but his achievement in studying magic and becoming a Yellow-solid stage cored mage was the only reason he was able to become the Guild master of Luton City's magic guild.

And now, because of him, taking me in as his own son, I was able to live with him at the Guild and even become a junior trainee in the Magic Guild.

Upon reincarnating into this world and growing up to the age of seven, I was able to notice a significant decrease in my power, and I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit that I find myself at the beginner stage.

I was able to use mana even at the age of Three-Day-old seven years ago, but my body wasn't able to handle the pressure at that time.

Despite being the Conqueror of all the Elemental Kings in my previous life, now after seven years, and awakening myself as a Wind mage with cultivating the mana flow at the age of three, I am now a mere beginner, limited to using low-tier to mid-tier wind spells with my black core.

It's quite disheartening, to be honest, and makes me feel nauseous.

Although my magical capacity and mana flow are at the beginner stage, the time when I awakened, I was able to awaken as a the peak of black stage or black-light core stage in my mana flow, and not to mention my physical attributes and abilities are well developed for someone of my age. I can intermediately utilize my sword skills and physic for fighting.

Maybe that's the reason my body awakened at the beginner stage. Maybe I should just make my body capable of handling the mana flow inside my core.

Yet, as someone who is passionate about becoming stronger, it still falls short. I want to get stronger!

"Hey Ryan! It's time for dinner!"

A cheerful voice interrupts my thoughts, and I look at the speaker, replying, "Coming!" as I run towards him.

His name is Leon Flare, son of the Flare house and one of the junior students at the Magic Guild, and one of my friends in the trainee regiment of the guild.

Come to think of it, I am hungry from all the training. Oh well, I better hurry, or the others will finish everything.

"Lost energy while training, huh! Let's see who's faster!" After I got close to Leon, he started to run towards the dining hall, yelling this out.

"..This brat!"

With a smile, I ran behind him, utilizing my wind mana to boost my speed, and caught up to him as we continued to run.

At least this time, my life would be peaceful... I guess.

...

"Hey there, Ryan!"

"It's Ray!"

"Looking good, lil brother!"

"Seems like today's training is over, huh, Ray!?"

Wow. Life is so good.

After entering the Guild's main hall and walking towards the cafeteria, many senior and junior students at the guild greeted me. Even the adventurers there would wave at me with a bright smile.

"Wow, Ryan. You are popular as always!" Leon said with a concerning smile as we were walking.

"It's crazy, right! Haha," I replied.

"Being the Guild Master's son has its perks, huh?"

"You think so? I just talk to these people openly, so I don't think being the son of the Guild master does matter... you know."

I can't tell him I acted like an extrovert and used all these people to get to know the world.

Even so, I get why Leon is thinking that way. It's common for a guy to think that someone who is younger than him and someone who is just barely a mage would be more popular than a noble kid like him.

Regularly, after my regular exercises every day, I used to stroll inside the guild because I would find exceptional adventurers who would just check in to submit their reports on their mission based on magical beasts.

Well, every party should report their missions and the check-ins with the adventurer's guild, but there are exceptions when a party finds anything major about mana or a new kind of magical beast while they adventure.

While doing that, the remaining members who are all waiting for their captain to return after reporting would be sitting free, eating, or relaxing their fill in the cafeteria or in the main hall.

So, that would be the perfect chance to analyze them and get in touch with them all.

Even though they would just laugh it up because I'm just a kid, they would eventually share their adventuring stories. And that would ultimately lead to interesting stuff like how they would use mana and how they would handle critical situations.

They would even talk about different types of magical beasts and where they would be seen.

However, not all the stuff would come out just by my conversation skills and immersive questions; my greatest weapon as Ryan Dainsleif, is my looks.

My looks were praised by majority of the people, and well, being cute is a major advantage in getting intel or getting along with anyone.

It was a new feeling of accomplishment, but when ever I used to look at the mirror, I never could help but notice how ridiculously cute I looked with my short light brown hair and blue eyes. Must be my noble lineage, but it's all worth it, even for an abandoned kid like me.

With a handsome appearance like this, I could easily capture anyone's attention. I should use every weapon in my arsenal to survive after all.

I did have blond hair and the same blue eyes as Gladius Agroth in my previous life, but I never was this good looking.

Oh well, the future of my facial features might be uncertain, but as long as I avoid getting chubby, I think I'd be just fine.

[Distant crowd noises]

"What's happening there?"

As we reached the cafeteria and entered inside, there were junior students gathered and shouting.

It seems like a fight among students. It's not uncommon though.

"Another fight?" Leon was confused as well.
