Chapter 8 - The Breakthrough

[Samuel Dainsleif's POV]

Being a guild master is my job, and nowadays, my passion for knowledge, the one I carved and lived my whole life as a mage and an adventurer, was long gone.

Because I was from a commoner's household, no one taught me about magic and stuff. I only learned all that myself and grew as a mage to become who I am now.

At a certain point, I lost the thirst for knowledge and started to focus on my job as the guild master. I watched my son, Ryan, grow strong and acted as a mentor for the trainees in the guild.

I've been stuck in the Yellow-solid stage since I was appointed as the guild master seven years ago, and with the poor cultivation I do, I can only refresh my mana flow after a long day.

Today, I planning to meet my son and ask just talk to him freely after a long time as we both only act like Guild master and trainee because we are in the Magic Guild and we aren't staying together as he has to stay in the dorms.

And while that was my plan, my son Ryan came to me, and while I started our conversation with his progress in cultivation as a start, he started to tell me numerous things about magic and mana theories that left me in awe.

His eyes were shining and his energetic attitude with glimmering confidence in his words...wow, I can't remember the last time I was that energetic as him.

I don't know what kind family he was born and supposed to grow into or why he and his mother were in a critical state when I found them both in the forest. Sadly, his mother died while keeping Ryan safe with every ounce of energy left in her.

I couldn't leave a baby alone, and looking at his face, I felt like I couldn't do anything but protect him with all the might I had.

That was supposed to be my last adventure before getting my promotion as the guild master, and the next day, I became a guild master and a father too.

It feels like just yesterday I adopted him as my own cute son. But now, seven years have gone by in a blink, and he's learned so many things while staying here with me and being a trainee in this magic guild.

I blamed myself for not being there for him while my job was hectic as the guild master, but I never thought that kid would crave knowledge this much. The staff says he practically read every book in this guild.

Sure, I didn't believe them all and thought he was just bored and started to look at stuff in the books, but I was totally wrong.

"Okay Father. Before I do anything, I want you to concentrate on the force I'm going to send over to you. After feeling a spark of my mana clashing with yours, you start the mana manipulation. Alright?" he said.

"Yeah. Let's start!" I replied to Ryan, concentrating within my mana core.

It was almost ten minutes past now, and I was still sitting in the concentrating position and feeling the mana reserves within me. It seemed like Ryan was concentrating too, as he wasn't saying anything either.

Just as I was waiting, a sudden feeling of my mana flow started to flow through my body by itself without me controlling it. Followed by that, a sudden spark within my mana core flashed.

"Now father! Start mana manipulation!" Ryan yelled as I confirmed he was doing as he planned and started my mana manipulation.

"You will feel a little feverish, but I want you to endure it and just focus on the flow of mana within your body. Do not care about the mana gathering!" he said as I began my mana manipulation.

...

[Ryan Dainsleif's POV]

The process involved in allowing my father break through was something only I as a life form in this world could ever do because of my past life's experiences.

I had to will my own mana which into my father's body. Doing this, his mana flow speed would be much faster than a regular mortal and his mana manipulation would be much effective. Normally no mortal species could just adjust their bodies to not burst from those mana flow speed aside from dragons, but with me guiding him with my own mana as the base source, it would be easy for anyone to control their mana flow at what ever speed it goes.

While this was happening I was able to feel the basic elemental mana gathering around us both which only confirms my suspicion that my mana could alter its flow and effective to have all the basic elemental attributes in my mana core.

That means, I have a capacity to become a quad-mage in my cultivation progress till the white core stage.

With that now I can confirm that my mana which is helping my father cleansing the impurities within his mana core while gathering the atmosphere's mana, it has become the purest form.

And the purer the mana gets refined the purer the core of my father would be able to break through. Although I have to stop the process after it reaches two layers of removing impurities and infuse the gathered elementary mana inside his core. Being a black-core...*cough's blood*

..what? I'm going to break through too?

Well, damn. I might as well get along with it.

While helping my father to breakthrough his next stage, the gathered mana from the atmosphere was also affecting my mana flow too, compelling my mana core to break through.

So, continuing the process and stabilizing my mana flow as I was concentrated with my father, we both remained in the same position for over an hour and our mana flow was visible enough to my eyes to see our mana manipulate and getting cleansed by the more and more gathering of atmospheric mana.

After a long cycle of gathering mana, I sensed my father's break through was a success. So, taking a deep breath, I removed my hands from his back and let him continue the manipulation until he stabilizes his mana flow himself for the last part as I was concentrating on the excess mana gathered from my father's break through and the mana gathering for my break through and manipulating my mana to absorb the atmospheric mana gathered to remove the impurities in my mana core.

Fire, water, ground and wind. As I was in a deep concentrated state I was able to see the four basic elements with my wind element in the center in their elemental form, giving off the glow of their respective colors.

I had to adapt my mana flow with any of the elements aside from wind as that was my mana's nature. And I have already planned what element I should be using for now as a dual mage until I break through Yellow-light stage.

As I set my hand reaching the bright glow of flames, the fire element, my consciousness was blinded and I was slowing opening my eyes as I was stabilizing my mana flow inside my core.

Seems like my theory went just as I planned out to be. I have become a Red-Light staged mage. But how do I convince father about the real life situation stuff I said to him that is crucial about my break through.?

"Oh Seems like you are up my genius son!" My father said as he was sitting in front of me with a happy smile.

I responded with a wide smile. "Father...seems like you have sucee...."

My father didn't even let me finish as he picked me up into a big hug. "Oh thank you..thank you thank you Ryan. Do you know how much of my effort was going to be wasted on cultivating uselessly. You changed everything and you were able to help me break through silver-solid stage. I mean...there is not many people who even are at that stage. Oh my god I'm going crazy....*Sniff* Uuu… thank you so much, My son!!"

Wow. I wasn't expecting this much excitement in his breaking through. And this is my first time hearing there is not many silver-solid staged mages around.

"Uhm...father. I was able to break through as well. I'm now a red-light staged mage!" I said to him as he was hugging me tightly.

"What did you say? you broke through too? I thought you said you would be able to break through after facing a real-life experience like adventuring and stuff!" He asked with surprise.

"...Well, I think the amount of mana you gathered was enriched by the mana I was able to gather and I was able to break through because of it...I guess." I replied with a fixing up face.

What the hell could I explain if he just asked that out straightly to my face. I have covered up that for now.

"Great, Ryan. At this point, even if you said you became a white cored mage, it wouldn't surprise me. You are certainly are a genius of this century." He said.

"I still have ways to go father." I replied.
