Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: ∞ 18 years later ∞

Mystic ran through the motions that the Guild Master had been teaching her since she could walk and finished her training. Joan was running around the training grounds as Mystic headed towards the bar that they all worked out of. Joan was twelve and followed Mystic everywhere. Mystic was eighteen and had deep purple hair that went past her knees to her ankles and deep purple eyes. She stood at five and a half feet tall and wore her hair in a long braid.

Mystic had tanned skin and sharp nails. She had a thin waist and wide hips that made the rowdy men that came into the bar try to grab her ass and they ended up leaving on a stretcher most of the time. So, the men steered clear of her.

As Mystic entered the bar in trousers and a man's loose shirt, a hush fell upon the crowded bar, Mystic ignored them and headed up the stairs to her room and bathed. After her bath, Mystic headed to the office of the guild master to check the status of her next target.

Knocking on the door to the Guild Master's office she heard him call for her to enter the room.

"Oy! Mystic. I was just abouts to holler for ye!" Guild Master Rikard said as he sorted papers on his desk. He motioned me to sit down on one of the chairs that sat in front of his desk.

"Master, I have entered to see what jobs you may have for me." Mystic informed him as she sat down in a comfortable wing backed chair made from wood and leather.

His desk was roughly six foot wide and four foot tall with a wooden-like thrown chair with a padded seat. Master Rikard was a huge man that was over six and a half feet tall and at least two hundred plus pounds. Mystic looked up to him like he was her father because he raised her.

"Ya chits are so impatient," he said as he grabbed a folder from the bottom of a stack and handed it to her. "This be ya assignment for thee time bein'."

"Understood, but why is the pictures in black and white?" Mystic asked out of curiosity. "I need to know who this person is and the description down to a T."

"Ye will know when ya see 'im. I know this may very well be ye last assignment, me Mystic. Don' ferget where ye came from and remember where ye came from." That was all he said as he shooed her out of his office.

Mystic went to her room, confused by the master's words, and then opened the folder at her small desk. Duke Midnight was the target, and the assignment was to take his onyx broch that he received from the King upon his coronation of becoming a Duke twenty-one years ago.

Sighing in irritation, Mystic closed the folder and burned it with her fire magic that only the Master knew about. He didn't know that she could control all the elements because he didn't need to know. Secrets are things that don't need to be shared.

Standing up, Mystic looked out the window. Moving the curtain off to the side roughly an inch so she could see the hustle and bustle of the street below. She could see men and women walking the streets below and horse drawn carriages moving up and down the street.

Walking away from the window, Mystic walked towards her closet and got out her black clothes. A tunic and pants. Along with a pair of lightweight boots that made no sounds, she waited for midnight to come, after she showered and braided her hair.

As midnight approached, Mystic finished getting ready. She put her boots on and grabbed her satchel from her nightstand. Waiting for the clock tower to chime at midnight, Mystic took a deep breath. Seconds after it chimed for the first chime, Mystic jumped from her window.

Jumping from roof top to roof top Mystic hid in the shadows that the new moon gave her. She could see carriages moving away from the Castle from the clock tower as she perched from the top. Sliding down the side of one house, Mystic jumped silently into an alley between two houses.

Her braid silently landed on her shoulders, as her deep purple eyes looked towards the estate that she needed to break into and grab an Onyx pendant that belongs to the Archduke Midnight. Not knowing who he is and where to look. She seen a set of guards at the entrance and loads more inside the mansion's perimeter.

Sneaking in will test all her skills as a Master Thief. Looking for something to throw in both directions so the guards will split up, I see two decent sized rocks on the ground. I threw one far to my left and saw the guards talk and see one run towards that direction and a few moments later I threw the other and watched as that guard take off to check the noise.

She ran to the decorated gate and proceeded to climb it once they were both out of sight. Looking at the crest for a slight moment to see a dragon colored in deep purple, then finished climbing over and then jumping down, landing silently on her feet, her braid flying behind her. Running quickly through the yard, she hid in the night whenever she seen a guard about to cross her path.

Looking around as she ran, she saw a beautiful garden, but ran until she reached the side of the estate, looking for an open window. Seeing an open balcony with a staircase leading to a second-floor room, she silently walked up the stairs, making sure she didn't get caught.

Heart racing, she reached the balcony and looked through the doors and seeing no one, she crept lightly into the room. Noticing that it was a bedroom. The walls were covered in deep grey with white accents. The massive bed had a dark wooden head and footboards with gold bedding.

She walked slowly towards the door that led to an empty hallway. Sneaking down the hallway, she sees a cracked open door. Walking slowly towards it, she peered into the room and seen an office cased in darkness aside from the light peeking through the light curtains.

Seeing no one in the room, Mystic decided to enter the room and look around. She lit a small flame in the palm of her hand after softly closing the door. She toured the room and found a picture hanging up on the wall above the fireplace. Upon closer inspection she seen a man with dark hair and eyes, five boys that looked just like him and a woman with silver hair and light eyes.

"What an odd-looking family." Mystic muttered and then cursed when the light flicked on. Snuffing out her fire magic quickly and turning around, she comes face to face with three men looking at her with anger and then confusion.

"Well, well, well. What do we have here?" One asked as the other two moved to the side and started muttering a spell.

Mystic slowly backed up as she looked at the men in front of her and noticed that they all had dark purple hair and deep purple eyes, just like her. Shocked, Mystic didn't see the two brothers who had moved to the side, finish their spell. Next thing she knows she's falling towards the ground as the brother who just stared at her runs towards her and catches her.

"Who are-" Mystic tried to ask as she passed out.
