Mystic woke up early the next morning, only to find herself in a room she did not recognize. A soft bed under her with fluffy pillows. Sitting up, Mystic studied her surroundings with an impassive expression. White walls covered in different sized pictures; gold accents trimmed the edges of the walls and the floor. The bedframe is made up of white wood and gold tinted. The bed itself was white with golden colored bedding.
She got up out of bed and looked in the wardrobe to see nothing but taller men clothes and a few plain dresses. Before she could grab anything to wear, a knock sounded at her door.
"Come in," she said to whoever was outside of the room.
Three maids and her newfound father came into the room with a few outfits she assumed were for her. As she closed the door to the wardrobe, the maids flitted towards her and took measurements where she stood.
"The maids will help you get dressed in an outfit of your choosing, after you bath, and then they will escort you to breakfast when you are done." Her father said as he looked at her. She looked up at him while the maid picked out two dresses and a suit, one was in a light purple and the other was sapphire colors, and a white suit that was too bright.
Mystic had never worn a dress, so she picked the beautiful sapphire one. Her father beamed at her choice, and only then did she realize that it was the same color as his suit.
"I'll see you soon."
Mystic nodded at him and followed the maids to the bathroom, where they helped her with her bath and then proceeded to help her dress in the sapphire dress.
She felt like she was in a fairytale. The dress fit her perfectly and made her want to twirl in it. Now she understood why Master had made her take ballroom dancing, etiquette, and several other classes.
When the maids, Tilly, Amanda, and Layla, were done helping her, Amanda, who won the right to escort her, were done, helped her navigate to the dining room. Upon closer inspection, everything was white, with a deep purple accent. Pictures lined the walls with small tables that held little vases and big floral arrangements. Mystic didn't understand why her biological mother just up and left her at the assassin's guild and didn't just hand her over to her father. Maybe her mother had wanted her dead.
Shaking off the subject of her mother, Mystic noticed that her maid, Amanda, had stopped at a huge door. Two guards looked at her with shocked expressions and then quickly opened the doors leading to the dining room. Her father and the three brothers she met last night were there, but the last two brothers she had not met were there also.
"Morrison, Mason, welcome your sister, Mystic." Our father told them.
"So, Max was telling the truth?" One of the twins with long hair asked.
"Duh, Morrison," Mason said as he ran his fingers through his short hair.
"I can't wait to tell Dani about our new sister," Magus said with a wide grin.
"Dani?" Mystic asked.
"My fiancé." Was his reply.
"Max is married, to a lovely woman named Nicole, but we were not sure how you would take meeting more people. Mannen is to be wed to his fiancé next month, Anna, and Magus is to be wed to Danylle in a few months' time. Morrison and Mason will find their loves in time." Our father told me as I sat in the seat a waiter pulled out for me next to Mason.
She tried to keep her anxiety at bay sitting with people she didn't know well. She looked around and noticed that everyone had started to eat, so she went with the flow. Maxwell looked towards her when they had all finished eating.
"So little sister, what have you learned in the last eighteen years?" He asked.
"Fighting, dancing, etiquette, among other things." She replied as she finished her breakfast and whipped her mouth with her napkin.
They all looked at her with wide open mouths and Mason, who was next to her chuckled, getting a kick at her background. Looking at her father, she shrugged, and smiled a small grin.
"Where were you living, to have such a background?" Father asked, as he tried to cover up his shocked expression.
"Assassin's guild." She simply stated. "I mainly retrieved things though."
"That's so cool," Morrison exclaimed.
"Oh dear," our father said under his breath.
"Sorry, but you were to be my last assignment." Mystic said as she took a sip of her apple juice, not even looking at the orange juice. Nasty stuff, she thought.
"What? What were you supposed to get from me?" Father asked in shock. She looked at him and seen the broch that she was supposed to steal.
"Your onyx broch that you wear all the time," Mystic said to him as she eyed his broch.
"Why would someone want this? The boys bought it for my birthday last year," father said as he touched it with his fingertips.
"It may have been a scam assignment to get me here and to find out that you are my father from the Guild Master." She replied with the tilt of her head.
"Hmm." Father said under his breath.
"Well, it worked, and now we have a direct female descendent in our family line." Mannen said as he looked at her with a small grin.
"Don't tell me that you all believe that?" Morrison snapped at them. "Assassin's guild? Fighting along with everything else?"
Before Morrison could continue his rant, she was up, with her butterknife to his throat and his long hair in hand. Everyone gasped at her speed and then laughed at Morrison's bewildered look.
"You're wearing a dress! How could you move that fast?" Magus asked.
"Simple, I trained long and hard." She told them as she loosened her hold on Morrison and went back to her seat, as if nothing had happened. She walked with grace and poise.
As everyone left to do whatever they needed to do, until it was just father and her. They stood up at the same time and just looked at each other for a moment before her father spoke.
"Why don't we head to my office and then the head maid and the butler can show you around?" He suggested.
"That's fine." She replied and followed him, her skirt swished with every elegant step she took when she remembered that she was in heels that matched her dress.
Mystic followed her newfound father towards his office and shut the door behind herself. Looking around the office she sees that all the woodwork is dark oak and that the walls and cushions are gold. Much like the room that she stayed in last night.
"You can sit if you want to Mystic." He told her as he sat behind his desk in his winged back desk chair. She glided towards one of the two chairs in front of his desk and sat down. Settling herself into a smaller version of his chair.
"First, you will need to practice your light magic on your own. I have light magic books you can study on your own. Plus, I will have several teachers come in for you for your elemental powers. I don't like the fact that you know how to fight, but I will have Maxwell's old teacher come here for you so that you can at least learn how to use a sword, since you know defense already. Lastly, your etiquette and dancing instructors will be here tomorrow, they will see what you know and teach you what you don't know," her father said.
Mystic nodded at him to show him that she was listening. Looking straight at him as he continued the conversation.
"All of your teachers will come tomorrow, and we will set a schedule that will fit your needs." He finished telling her.
"That is fine, but what are we to do when people find out about me?" Mystic asked out of curiosity.
"We shall figure that out when the time comes, but when you are ready, we will introduce you to high society." He replied.
"Then we better get to studying," Mystic said with a smirk.
They chit chatted a little longer and when the head maid, Lana, and the butler, Blake, came to the office, Mystic said goodbye to her father and walked out with Lana and Blake following her out the door.
