I groaned as my eyes flickered open. The sunlight streaming through my window felt like daggers in my throbbing head. I tried to get up, but as I did, a sharp, banging pain coursed through my temples.
"Mom!" I called out, my voice a feeble whisper. The pain in my head seemed relentless.
Mom, who must have heard my call, suddenly appeared at my bedroom door. She held a cup in her hand and approached my bedside.
"I brought you some water," she said, her voice filled with concern.
I nodded weakly, my mouth feeling parched. Mom handed me the cup, and I took a few sips. The water helped reduce some of the dryness in my throat, but my head still throbbed relentlessly. Mom sat beside me by the edge of my bed, her gaze fixed on me, watching me carefully as I gulped down the water.
