Chapter 24 - The Rusted Blade

Elijah was about to walk away when he noticed something in the corner of his eye. There was an object at the chef's chair, Elijah walked closely to it the object came into view it was a blue color it was a long sword with a wide guard that curved inward the scarbed had many symbols engraved into it.

'is that what I think it is?' Otto said. Elijah stared at the blade and observed its bright colors. There were some blue, but around the edges, there would be some purples and greens engraved into it.

"what is it?" Elijah asked; Otto answered with an excited tone.

'I never thought I would see these designs in this den….This is a weapon from the Ottoman Empire they existed a long time ago remnants of their existence are still left but all of their treasures are gone!.. I never thought I would see one of their treasures here! ELijah, show me the blade now!' Otto yelled, ELijah walked closer to the sword then picked it up.

The blade was surprisingly light. Elijah unsheathed the blade it revealed a rusted abomination the blade itself looked like it was about to fall apart 'What!, those Fucking bastards must have been using it. The weapons made from the Ottoman Empire have a tendency never to get rusted. What the hell were those Fucking morons using it on?' Otto yelled.

"maybe…we can repair it?" Elijah waved the blade around as if he were to strike down an enemy '…it is possible but it won't be as powerful as it was during its prime…i can teach you how to repair it, we have that pond with the holy water so this should work, let's go.

(this guy is obsessed with that sword…if it were in its prime, I would have been dead by that chief….I should search around for more treasures)

Elijah then searched around the many houses he found books in languages he hadn't seen before he saw different types of drawings after searching the entire camp he saved the best for last…the chief house, it was a big tent made from wood and straw there were two windows in the front they reached had an interacted design each telling a story of its own, Elijah went inside he found books and a lot of nothing. he searched for the chief's room he somehow found human clothes it was a red short-sleeved shirt with well-designed buttons. A pair of black jeans shorts and a new pair of shoes.

Elijah changed out from his tattered clothes, there was a mirror in the room Elijah went to look into it his eyes were a turquoise color, his skin was very light yet it had some small hints of a darker color his expression was tired, and his hair was straight and long it reached his chest, he was about to walk away when he noticed that the ends of his hair had turned a faint red.

"Why did it change color?" Elijah exited the room he was walking down the halls when he noticed something strange there was a draft inside, and a cold air swiftly hit Elijah his body slowly shivered he touched the wall then it caved in "Was that some kind of hidden door?".

Revealed was a dark staircase there was no light. Elijah spoke in an ethereal language [Ball of fire] the air around him warmed as the crimson flame cut through the cold of the staircase, he held the sword tightly in his left hand, while he walked with a crimson flame in his right. he reached the bottom it revealed blood stains on the floor while bodies piled up onto one place, their flesh melting as slimy pus and maggots filled their faces. Elijah looked in horror as one of the hands reached for him "Otto what is this?".

Otto didn't speak for a few seconds, then answered, 'This is a ritual for an evil god…the bodies..you could guess what happened to them, I dont know what evil god they serve there are a lot of them out there.'

Elijah walked around an altar, the squirming abomination had a pair of hazel eyes, Elijah stared at it. "does it still retain some parts of their humanity?" Asked Elijah, Otto didn't speak (seems like they don't…..) Elijah walked to a table that was filled with many torture tools (why would it need this?).

Elijah looked around the dungeon as he searched for a reason for the Fallen to have torture tools after a few seconds, he heard a faint cry. Elijah noticed something covered in a dark cloth, he slowly moved closer to it, and he involped some of his limited spirituality into the silver glove it glowed a faint white.

Elijah removed the dark cloth he saw a human-like dog sitting in a cage its face stiched up its body looked like it was made from different parts. '…a Homunculus…' Otto said softly. the human-like dog tried to speak but no sound came out its stitching started to burst, and its forehead slowly cracked open as the stitching was undone. the human-like dog screamed. Its voice could barely be heard, but ELijah could feel what it wanted to say

"Kill Me!"

Elijah raised his silver glove, then released a flurry of tin sliver strings and entered the cage cutting the human-like dog to sherds. Elijah stayed quiet for a few seconds, then asked.

"what would make someone make a Homunculus? What is a Homunculus?" Elijah inquired, otto spoke slowly 'its very easy to guess why such a person would want to make a Homunculus'.

(… I saw a family picture….could that Homunculus once be part of his family that died?) ELijah thought inwardly. "what is a Homunculus?" ELijah asked, otto was silent for a few seconds, then answered ' the best way I can explain what a Homunculus is. Is to tell you what oath it's from, at a particular stage in the apothecary oath, there's an ability, called Alchemis. it allows one to create a living life, but its success is very low. which is why that thing wanted you to kill it. otto stated.

(There really an oath that allows you to do that) Elijah thought. after a few seconds of looking around, Elijah asked out loud, "Who was the apothecary that made the human-like dog?" Otto responded

' that I'm unsure of, we can rule out the possibility of it being a human. because if it were to be a human that made that then they would have killed it.'

Elijah responded, "Why would a human kill it? wouldn't they use it as a human shield or something?" Elijah finished

'yes most would do that but some kill it because once an apothecary creates a life it has a chance of developing an oath. it could even become a god, to increase the chances of that happening, some apothecaries would sacrifice parts of themselves self but if it fails, then the part they sacrificed would go to waste

"then it wouldn't be a human….could it be a powerful fallen in a deeper part of the sphere?" Elijah asked himself. he left the camp, he moved around the fallen, avoiding their gazes within a few hours, he reached the shed. (I need to go deeper into the den….I need better items that can help me survive)

Elijah brought out the blade from a pouch, then placed it into the sliver lake "So Otto, how long do I keep the blade in?" there was no response for a few minutes until Otto yelled 'Now!'. Elijah pulled the blade out from the sliver lake; some rust was gone but still in a terrible state.

for the next few days, Elijah listened to Otto, he taught him how to restore a blade by the time it was done it had already been a week.

'it's not fully restored but that's all we can do' Otto said furstadly. 'if it wasn't for those dam morons, then I-you would have a very powerful weapon…' Elijah frowned his brow then said: "whatever, as long as it's useful then it doesn't matter…all that matters is how long this thing can last before it breaks".

ELijah wrapped small amounts of string around the blade; it glowed a white color "Fallen Dynasty…..should I call it that?" ELijah asked, otto responded 'The name sounds ...yeah sure name it that, it's not like it's mine' Otto said dejectedly.
