Chapter 30 - The Study

Elijah brought the marble teacup to his mouth and then drank up. The tea had a smooth, milky taste to it. It wasn't bad, nor was it good, but it filled him with spirituality "My first question …..What exactly is spirituality?".

The man placed down his marbled tea cup, tilted his head to the right then answered "Quite a strange question, but to put it bluntly.

"spirituality is the life essence that exists in everything. it's like a fuel that makes us able to move and talk, but we can call upon that power once we do; we use it as a source to use spells such as Ball of Fire and Blade of Wind. There is more to it, but I feel as though you should hear this from miss Daly."

The man picked up his marbled tea cup and then drank. Elijah rumpled through his thoughts and then landed on his second question, "How come there aren't that many Crusaders?". The man made a soft chuckle and then added.

"they always ask that when they join," he sighed, then placed the marbled cup down. "To answer this, I have to put it simply… the concept of oath has been erased from the minds of the ordinary people." Elijah widened his eyes and opened his mouth, but the man placed his pointer finger to his lips and continued.

"We are still trying to figure out how it happened, but we mostly blame it on the lost era which came with the rise of dens, anyway, after people forgot about oaths and such, the government created a law, the oath regulation act.

"which means anyone with an oath has to be part of a legal group such as the government or the church. We are the inquisitors, also known as Oath Compliance Bureau or OCB." the man placed his marble cup down and poured more tea for himself.

Elijah said in a shocked voice "Wait!, people lost their memories of the world of mysticism?" the man nodded and then asked, "are there any more questions?".

"this question might be a bit stupid but so that you know I'm from a small town on the outskirts.....how many gods are there?" the man sipped his blue tea and smiled.

"dont worry it's not a stupid question to ask, some people don't care for gods anyway. currently, there are 10 gods…but some more might show up in the late future so you might never know right?" he asked.

(should I ask the names of all of them…..)

as if the man was listing on ELijahs thoughts, the man said,

"The Umbral Sovereign

The Celestial Archivist

The Moon's Enchantress

The Sentinel of Chivalry:

The Warbringer:

The Abyssal Overseer

The Omniscient Sage:

The Steam Artificer:

The Nurturer of Life:

The Arbiter of Righteousness:

The Oracle of Fates"

Elijah almost opened his mouth in shock, but he controlled himself then added(maybe I should have read that book.)

He pursed his lips and then sipped from the tea "How many ancient languages are there?".

Elijah knew that there was more to this world than three languages after being stuck in the den, he saw some things he didn't understand and some that he could…it he wanted to go home he might need to learn all of them

"There are a few, mostly five; as you know there are Umbarl, norvain, and the eldearl..but there are three more that humans have managed to figure out, which is the Elvish and the Jhotam…" The man paused then placed his tea down. "Who knows maybe we could figure out more"

Elijah nodded rubbed his chin, then asked, "if the world of mysticism was erased from the minds of people, then how are there people that still have oaths?" the man grinned then answered.

"it's quite simple! Cults!" the man said cheerfully (cults?,,, also why is he cheerful about that?)

Elijah thought for a few more moments, then added "So that's what you meant about cults, just like what happened to me they capture people that they see talent in, then rise them up?" the man nodded, then took a sip of the tea.

"yes, but not entirely; some cults will give a person an oath and even improve their lives just to use that person as a human sacrifice.

"if they weren't there in time then the likelihood of that happening to you would be high. But most people that end up being in that situation realize that something weird is up then they run off and spread news of it happening.

"then it explodes in the underworld the news of oaths being a thing starts to become a big problem for us, so to counter this we put spies in place to burn out the news...but…-anyway any more questions?" the man smiled happily.

Elijah rubbed his chin while in thought (so….the common folk don't know about this type of world…..but why did he make that strange pause?…..I probably shouldn't dig into something I shouldn't know). Elijah sighed then added.

"what will you do about the witches of dawn?" Elijah asked calmly; the man on the other end had a nonchalant expression he then added, "we are currently on the hunt for those members, also the monarch of life members".

ELijah tried not to react (what the hell happened to them? Are they not going to help me with the black blood ascetic cult?) he then inquired, "What is the monarch of life?".

The man answered, "They are a group that worships an evil deity; they are mostly known as a terrorist group." Elijah let a reaction slip out, the man, however, didn't seem to care after what felt like hours the man added on.

"the witches of dawn won't have time to hunt you down, so don't worry, you will be staying at the church, but Captain Bargi has issued that you join the church." Elijah faintly smiled, after a few more moments, Elijah was dismissed.

Elijah walked back to his room. It was like a small prison, but the insides were marble white; the color reminded him of something (the Knight…who-). Elijah felt a sharp pain etched into his head. He hissed, then said, "Oh yeah, half of my memories are sealed".

Elijah moaned, then slowly crawled into the bed sheets he covered himself in the white blanket stared at the ceiling then closed his eyes. ELijah took deep heavy breaths,in a few moments, Elijah's head slowly cleared (my goal right now is to go home…..but do I want to?) He thought to himself.

he had spent so much time with them, to him (they are like a new family to me, how can I leave like that?…..I need to find Marcus…..at least I should help the ones that got involved in this)

Elijah's head slowly cleared up. His eyes were still closed he heard Otto's voice he said 'what are you going to do now?' Elijah didn't answer for a while, then added in a whisper

"Not now….."

Elijah slowly drifted to sleep; a faint tear rippled done his right cheek.

In the hazy dream, Elijah was in a windy desert; he used his elbows to cover his eyes. then he heard a faint voice "T…TH…thank you…..Child Of Fallen," Elijah eyes widened with surprise, then he yelled.

"Wait!..." the sand stood up, and the wind beat against him. The wind seemed like it was talking, but Elijah entirely understood it. The wind was strong it carried a force that could carry away a grown man ( what did it mean by Child Of Fallen?...Also who was that voice?).

Elijah grunted as his body started to become heavier, he tried to crawl, but his body wouldn't allow that to happen.

Clak clak

ELijah heard the feint approach of footsteps, he looked up to see a navy blue-haired person staring at him. he couldn't quite describe what look she gave him. She knelt to her heels then, pointed to him, then said in a muffled voice.

"Wake up….Fool," the woman seemed annoyed.

"....Huh?" Elijah got up out of bed. He felt dizzy, yet he was full of energy. He got up off the bed and then went to a dresser next to the bed. "A clock?" the clock was a bronze color with interesting details.

the clock read 8:30. There were no windows in this room, so he couldn't tell if it was night or day "i should have asked if I was allowed to leave my cell.." Elijah sighed then sat on the bed. 'if you were allowed to leave, then what would be the point of you being here?'.

Otto said. Elijah couldn't see him, yet he felt as though Otto had a smirk on his face. "chicky bastard," Elijah said under his breath; otto didn't speak for a few moments, then he broke the silence 'What do you plan on doing now?' Elijah sighed, then spoke, "i thought about what I was about to do but its been kind of a blank….

"but that kinda changed once I had a strange dream.." before ELijah could continue, otto stopped him 'i don't want to hear about your wet dreams' ELijah frowned and said, "not those dreams". Otto sighed then added 'go on..'
