Chapter 15
Narrator Pov:
Most are confused by how this unconscious Jake is going toe to toe with a Demon. The reason for it is his combined ability, it combined Battle Concentration (BaC) and Berserker Rage (BeR). The reason it combines those two is the ability has the concentration from (BaC) and the power from (BeR). From that it got Berserker Concentration (BeC) or Battle Rage (BaR) as its name.
Now those there did not know about this skill, in fact no-one did. It was a completely new skill since no-one with BeR has BaC and Vise Versa. Jake did not know this either, he was unconscious and had not been to the church yet for his baptism. Everyone could only watch on in wonder and fear of the power.
When the demon came at him again going for a slash with its remaining right arm, Jake dodged. He dodged to the right, using his left hand he pushed the sword into the ground and followed with a punch to the gut. From that the demon coughed up blood wondering how Jake was so strong. I mean that power, from a Dire-wolf Beast-kin who was almost eight was unprecedented, even in history. But of course no-one there knew that he was a Beast-kin Dire wolf, they only knew he was a Beast-kin. Henry only knew he was a Beast-kin wolf from the records.
From there he kicked the Demon between the legs and cut them off. The demon screamed in agony from the damage caused in a short amount of time. Everyone else couldn't even register it, all they saw was the demon slashing to fast to see. The next thing they saw was the Demon screaming in agony, without its legs! Even Hunter and Emma were Astonished at the unconscious Jakes power.
When the demon was falling it said. "You will not get away with this brat. There are others, far more powerful than me, and they will have your he—!," It couldn't finish as Jake slashed its head off as it fell. From there though Jake immediately fell forward, sleeping!
The people watching could not even fathom what had just happened. A child, who had not even gone to the church for a baptism, had beaten, a Demon! The first to speak was Theo saying. "Just what is he?," Many other people had the same thoughts as the child was inhuman.
Hunter seeing how this could become a problem came up with a cover while Emma was lifting him, scared. She had not liked what she had just seen, she was a child as well, so it was normal. Most should not have to see violence like that until they are 18 way of time in the Strike Tribes.
"You see, when you live here, you have to adapt and grow to survive. Jake did better than anyone, he always trained more than me and Emma. He tended to kill Giant Snakes and Hades Serpents that came to close. Before his dungeon dive though, he did not know the difference, in fact he still does not. Now seeing how that was most likely a Lower Demon it was only AA-rank, that was why it was a little bit difficult," Hunter said, not knowing much about the outside world and normal strength of people.
"Did you just say, that defeating a AA-rank was a little bit difficult?!," The knight commander questioned.
"Yeah, is it not normal, I mean we have lived here since we escaped Jones. The week before he got poisoned he wrestled that Great wolf into submission," Hunter says gesturing to the dead Great Wolf who was lying on the ground nearby.
"No, it isn't, we are knights, and only around 5 of us could hope to take a great wolf on," The commander said gesturing to four other knights in the group of Forty-Three. Three of the group were the kids and the unit was made up of forty people.
"Well, lets get back inside to rest, and get this man back into bed," Hunter said picking us Jake over his shoulder. As he did that though Emma went up and chopped him on the head. "OW! What was that for Emma?," He asked back in pain.
"It was for picking him up like that while you both are injured!," Emma yells hitting him twice more making him cry in pain. The soldiers were confused as the child who had a hard time with the monster was getting picked on by someone younger and weaker.
"Follow me," Hunter said still carrying Jake the same into the cave. Knowing what might happen if they stayed outside the soldiers followed. As they headed deeper the kept on seeing monsters and were surprised at them avoiding the kids.
"Why are there monsters here and why are they avoiding us?," The commander asked, clearly confused.
"Well, you see, they are afraid of us, and, this is a, Dungeon," Emma says shyly to everyone's surprise.
"WHAAAAAAAATTTT!!!!!," Everyone yells at knowing that they were entering a dungeon. Why would any sane person live in a dungeon, let alone, in a glacier where it was unknown. Nobody could understand why these people would live in the most uninhabitable place on the continent. It made absolutely zero sense.
They continued down the dungeon, the soldiers, including the three nobles, were wary. They new just how dangerous dungeons were, especially because of all the traps. Every, single, one of them were watching their step.
Eventually they arrived at the stairway to the second floor and went down. At the bottom there was a door that Hunter casually pushed open. Inside was where Hunter, Jake, and Emma had lived for almost the past two years. The forty-two people were amazed at the place and how the three kids had survived by themselves there.
"You guys can set up camp over there, if you need anything just come over and ask," Hunter said pointing to one side of the room as he entered another with Jake and Emma. The people were stunned due to what had happened in the last half-hour and could only stand.
