Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

Chapter 17

Hunter Pov:

I hadn't expected him to say all that, but he technically is right about it. Theo, the prince of the Strike tribes had offered me an agreement of sorts, with a few conditions, in a way. We go with him to the Margrave, who is the father of Henry and Hannah, in Dire. When we get there they set out an order for Basilisk Antivenom.

When we get the venom, we give it to Jake so he gets better. The reason we are doing that is because he may not make it if we wait here. Plus the soldiers might not survive the monsters here. So in the end we have no choice but to vacate and go to Dire. But I cannot help but wonder if something else is going on here.

Anyway, we are getting ready to leave, but how will Rider know that we've left. That is the thing that I am most concerned about at the moment. Currently we are packing all the necessities and wants, along with everything of Jakes. We don't know what he will want to bring, so we will just bring it all. The reason they think our last name is Boshu, is that was our adopted parents last name. We won't ever tell our real last name to outsiders.

Jake is on a stretcher, ready to be moved out, but when the men had first seen night. Oh you should have seen the look on their faces. They were scared out of their minds when they learned there was a wolf down here. I ended up telling them that it was Jakes familiar, along with the slime Halfdan. They calmed down after that, but still.

I will be carrying Jake, with Henrys help, down the mountain. I can't carry a stretcher by myself and that is why he is helping. Night will be beside me to warn me of danger, and Halfdan next to Jake to smooth the ride and protect him. Due to Halfdans large size, he can be used as a bed, or a absorption type thing.

Last week Rider had set up a meeting point in case these people were here. I am going there now since we are leaving soon. When I arrive at the top of the hill overlooking the dungeon entrance I find a chest. I go up to it and open it up to find a note and some other supplies.

"Take this chest and all its contents with you. There are things for you, Jake, and Emma. There is also a list of places and things to do out in the real world. Sincerely, Rider," I read. Well, I guess we might as well take this with me then.

I head back and we leave the dungeon with everything we need. We make it out to the exit cave without trouble easily. "Now all that is left is to clear the snow blocking us," The commander says.

"Leave that to me, Melt!," I say using water magic to melt the snow blocking us in to let us out. I use water magic again to move the melted snow away to clear a path. After about five minutes there is a good sized hole to let us out.

"Thanks," Theo says as we continue out.

"This is amazing, it's been to long!," Emma says to which everyone is confused.

"Have you never seen the outside?," Hannah asks wondering and concerned.

"It's not that, it is just that we have not seen the sky for almost two years. We were hiding from some guys who wanted to kidnap us. Thankfully our friend Rider kept on bringing us supplies and study material," Emma says revealing our friends name, I thought I told her not to tell them that.

"Rider? Who is that, I haven't heard that name in all the time I have been a knight," One of the knights say to which I realize something I should have already. Rider would not tell his actual name to strangers in case he was found out. That is if he was an important or dangerous individual.

"Well, that is what he would call himself. We don't know anything other than that he is from Gamerton," I tell them to which they are surprised. "What am I missing?," I ask concerned.

"Gamerton is over 200 miles away, if there was a path through the mountains, from there," The man who is watching over Theo says which surprises me. How could he travel 400 miles in a single week.

"That makes no sense at all, he comes every single week from Gamerton. He can't come more often than that because he is working at least 5 days of the week," I mumble to which some of them hear.

"So tell me, how does a man travel 200 miles in a single day, through monster infested territory, and freezing temperatures?!," The commander asks me completely surprised, angry, upset, and unbelieving.

"I don't know, you should just go to Gamerton and ask him yourself," I tell them annoyed at all of their questions as we head down the mountain.

"AARRRRRGHHHHH!!!!," The Commander says obviously frustrated. Well I have to deal with it if I want Jake to get better, so I might as well try to lay low.

"Say, Hunter, didn't we have other guests from Gamerton as well?," Emma says, saying something that she shouldn't have.

"Other Guests?," The commander asks so I might as well tell him as not to get even more heat.

"Yeah, two either A or higher adventurers came with Rider one week. They stayed for the next week in order to train us. The one was training me and the other all three of us. They were preparing Jake mainly for his dungeon dive. That was the same week we met Halfdan, The great wolf, Slimo the slime, and Sunny who is Emma's wolf following us," I say pointing out the wolf following us, surprising everyone.

"How long has she been there?!," A knight questions.

"Since we left, she was watching from a distance in case she needed to warn us of enemies," I say lying, in fact we forgot completely about her since she was normally in the forest. I guess she wanted to come with us.

"That's a relief," Most knights say, but some aren't as happy saying, "Why couldn't we sense her?" "Just what is she?" And stuff along those lines, though they tried to suppress it so they didn't offend us or the wolf. Sunny didn't hear, but I did due to my increased hearing. Just how awkward is this trip going to be.
