Chapter 23
Narrator Pov:
It is currently a race of time against the dangers. Seven days ago Samuel left the capital with Aaron closely watching the knights. At the same the Knight commander currently in Karainaya sent a horse to Samuel. Will Samuel make it in time to meet the rider? An will Samuel catch the Traitorous Adventures in time to stop them?
Aaron Pov:
It has been a long journey, but from what I hear from my maid, it is worth it. Apparently it is only a day from the only two hot-springs in the country. My maid, Amina Crews, has served me since I was five. My former one had died when rescuing me from an attack from some bandits when returning from Jones.
You see I was visiting to see how things were done there. Of course we didn't tell anyone who I was for some reason. I had one friend in Jones, but I can't remember him since it has been so long.
We set off this morning on the final stretch around six hours ago. Currently we are in Margrave Samuels Territory, having lunch. "So, Samuel, how are the hot-springs?," I ask curious.
"Well, they are good during the winter, but not many people go there then. The main reason is because that is when monsters are most abundant. So I would say lets wait until the knights are back if they aren't already to visit. You never know when monsters could attack," Samuel tells me.
We set off after lunch, but around an hour later there is an explosion! I look out to see the Adventurers who were with us attacking, us?! Another explosion happens and I am knocked back into my maid who catches me. Looking again someone is opening the carriage so the maid grabs her short sword to defend.
She gets ready to attack as it opens to see Samuel? "Come on, your father warned me about this, the knights are defending but we need to get out of here!," He says. We get out after him and hide behind the carriage. "I am going to secure a horse, when I do come over and get on it. From there head west as fast as you can, you should see the hot-springs. If I am right, there should be soldiers there," Samuel says as he looks around.
He sees something that surprises him and responds, "Never mind. When those adventurers are attacked get in the carriage. I am going to drive us out of here." After he said that, we are puzzled. Sure, Beast-kin wolves have better senses than most, but what did he notice?
Hunter Pov:
The commander said he was going to send someone to the town. But earlier, I sensed that something bad was going to happen today. So yesterday I left with Henry in the direction I felt a disturbance.
We set out, on horse, only stopping every now and then as I am still recovering. It is around an hour after noon when we hear explosions from a nearby road. We go to check and see four carriages being attacked. Looking closer I recognize a symbol or so but can't remember.
"I don't believe it!," Henry exclaims as if he knows something.
"What do you mean?," I ask as he saddles his horse.
"Get on and ride, I'll tell you on the way!," He says as I saddle and set off. "The one carriage is my fathers, the other is the royal family's! I don't know what is going on but we have to help, can you fight?," He asks.
"Yeah, it is only humans attacking anyway, so this should be easy," I say as we are nearing the battlefield. When we arrive I jump backwards off my horse, landing doing a roll before charging the attacking humans. I jump up, since he is on a horse, and punch him square in the face surprising him. He falls off and everybody else stops moving, Except for the front carriage that runs off with Henry following in the second one.
"Knights, go with Henry and protect those carriages, I'll take care of these guys," I say getting ready to fight.
Samuel Pov:
We race out as the adventurers are attacked and I look back. I see a single man, no, child maybe, no older than Henry fighting. I also see my carriage following us, with a young man like the other driving. Looking closer, he is a beast-kin, A wolf Beast-kin, wait Henry?!
"Henry!," I call out to which he speeds up beside me. "What are you even doing here? I thought you had gone off with Theo and Hannah with the knight's against my wishes?," I asked confused as to why he was here.
"We did, we got into the mountains when a avalanche happened. But that man back there was in a cave and saved us. So he stalled the snow by using 'Fire wall' and we got into the cave in time. I will fill you in on the rest later, well the rider should be arriving at town around the same time we do so he can tell you," Henry says not saying why he was here.
"Ok, but why are you here?," I ask him.
"Well, the boy back there said that he felt something bad was going to happen in this direction today. So we set off last night without stopping, currently he is recovering his mana. As for me, I am using mana to keep myself awake," Henry responds out of breath.
"Henry! Where is Hannah?," Aaron calls out making me remember who I was driving.
"Oh, she is at the hot-springs resting up with that guys younger brother and sister. His sister is worried about her older brother who is currently poisoned. We were sending a rider to ask Samuel to order some Anti-venom," Henry says gesturing to me and surprising me.
"What do you mean poisoned?," I ask wondering what he means.
"I am going to say it before, the boy back there, catches up. Theo made a deal with him for saving us and him. It kinda went like this....," When he finishes, I must say, that is incredibly underhanded for a boy. How did he even think of that in the first place anyways.
