The third and fourth lessons went by quickly because Danny didn't bother listening. He had already understood that for the first lessons of the year, there wasn't going to be a single thing he didn't know taught.
The second break was also the launch break, and everyone went to the cafeteria.
Well... Everyone except for Danny and the two poor souls that he chose as his future accomplices.
Danny and the two people he wanted to recruit stayed in the class.
"Danny, I already told you I can't give you money for food."
The red-haired half-vampiress said.
"It's nothing like that."
Danny chuckled.
"Did you choose who you want to support?"
Chaos asked.
"Wait, what are you doing here?!"
Mira was surprised that Chaos was there. The last time they talked, he was being an asshole on her first day at this school.
"Aren't you 'too good' to be with Danny?"
She asked Chaos.
"It's not like that..."
The demon engulfed with chaotic energy sighed.
"So what is it like?!"
Mira asked angrily.
"Chaos acted that way on the day you met him by my order."
Danny intervened.
"Your order? What, is he your lackey?"
The half-demoness asked.
"No, we have a long-time-standing demon contract that makes him my supporter, and in turn, I'll put his life to good use."
Danny's explanation seemed to have only confused Mira more.
"Are you dying or something?"
She asked Chaos.
"No. This deal was made because of one bad life choice I wanted to make after I got tired of pleasing my family."
Chaos said, and Mira was surprised.
"Aren't you a prodigy? What problem did you have when it comes to pleasing your family?"
She questioned his story.
"You hate me already, so it may seem like a brag, but I'm better than the Greek Clan's heir. Because of that, the main branch wanted to hide me, and my branch decided that if I'm so good and not going to be the heir, then I should push myself to be the best servant to my cousin that I could be."
Chaos explained, and even though Mira couldn't clearly see his face, she could hear from his words that his words were true, but one question still infested her mind.
"I'm sorry I doubted you, but how does Danny come into the picture?"
She asked.
Before Chaos could answer that question, Danny opened his mouth.
"I'll tell you that story in the future. For now, can you please listen to me?"
The white-haired demon said.
After neither Chaos nor Mira talked for a few seconds, Danny started explaining.
"I decided to support my brother. Mira, I assume you already know who he is, so I won't need to tell you. We will do it secretly and without letting my father know. Do you agree to join me?"
Danny explained. And Chaos smirked in agreement through the chaotic energy.
Mira, on the other hand, wasn't so sure.
"What's in it for me?"
She asked without beating around the bush.
"If we win, I can make sure you'll get whatever you want from the king."
Danny said, and Mira was convinced.
Aside from him being so poor he couldn't even pay for his own launch, remembering how he still hadn't revealed her secret, she knew there wasn't any reason not to trust him.
Danny was visibly happy as they all went to the cafeteria.
********
Entering the cafeteria, Danny took a quick look over the dining hall until he saw where Marcuse and the harem were sitting.
He sat at the table and couldn't hide his amusement as Jennie, the brown-haired, green-eyed girl in Marcuse's harem, looked in shock at Chaos, who sat with Danny and Mira at the table.
"Why is my big brother sitting with us?"
Jennie quietly asked Danny.
"I thought it would be good to have him stay with good company to make him less pretentious."
Danny winged an excuse.
Jennie and Chaos were twins. Chaos was born first, and while they are both among the more talented first-year students, Chaos was far stronger and had better grades than her.
Because Chaos is male and is very talented, the clan abuses him. All the while, Jennie never received such treatment, and Chaos has been keeping the terrible treatment he received a secret so she wouldn't be disillusioned with their family.
"Okay."
Jennie said. She didn't completely trust his answer, but there shouldn't be any harm in having her big brother sit with them.
"So what brings such 'great prodigy' to sit with 'useless scum' like us?"
Marcuse asked Chaos with visible hostility.
"I thought that my judgment on the first day was unjustified and wanted to see for myself whether I was right."
Chaos fabricated a reason for his show of remorse.
"Well, do as you wish."
Marcuse shrugged it off. So long as this guy wasn't planning to hurt Marcuse or his friends, there shouldn't be any problem.
"On another note. Danny, I'm sure you saw that message from my father. What do you say, will you join me?"
Marcuse asked his brother in public so that he would feel pressured to say yes.
"I'm a poor low-level demon. What value would you gain from me joining you?"
Danny threw a ranch in Marcuse's plan.
"You are the smartest low-level demon, have almost uncontested magic control, and are famous all over Hell. Why having such a great celebrity join me wouldn't be beneficial?"
The blond prince argued.
"Well, regardless of whether I'll be useful or not, I already chose who I'll support, and I'm not ready to reveal it yet."
The white-haired bastard answered.
"Isn't not telling me bad sportsmanship? Don't you want to have this fight on equal terms?"
Marcuse asked, with the hope of waking his brother's competitive side.
"Marcuse, don't kid yourself. You know how I fight. I like to keep important cards close to my chest."
Danny said, and his purple eyes glowed menacingly.
At that moment, Marcuse felt defeated and as if he and his brother would never be on equal footing again.
