Chapter 15 - Danny's Show Of Strength

"In round five, we have the idol of the second-years, Alya! She will be fighting Hidoi of the Oni Clan!"

The announcer called, and everyone in the preparation room looked in Alya's direction.

"Uh, what's wrong?"

She asked.

"Sigh... I knew this would happen."

Danny said and put his hand forward.

"Tēza Yātarā."

Danny chanted, and his eyes glowed brighter than usual.

"What's this? Where's Alya?"

The announcer at the arena was confused.

Hidoi had an irritated expression. He needed to win this tournament for his clan to consider him to be the heir instead of that reincarnated human, Momotaro, but he never thought his opponent would be Alya.

Hidoi was among the second-year students and, like many of them, had a crush on her.

He didn't want to fight her!!!

The earth rose on Alya's side of the ring and morphed into the shape of a person. And in no time, Alya was teleported to the ring.

In the preparation room, there was a screen from which they could see the match.

Everyone was surprised by her sudden appearance in the ring.

How could Danny, a low-level demon, be able to use spatial magic without any magic artifacts?

In fact, he shouldn't be able to, and the mouthful of blood he coughed right after teleporting Alya proved it.

"Danny, are you okay?!"

Marcuse asked in worry.

The next fight was Danny's, and he didn't seem to be in a ready state.

"It's fine. Water under the bridge."

Danny chuckled, and Marcuse chose to trust this reckless brother of his on this one.

At the arena, Hidoi looked at Alya and her bewildered face as she was confused about how she got there.

"Are both of you ready?"

The announcer asked, and the two fighters nodded.

Alya's bewildered face was so cute... He wanted to touch it!

Hidoi rushed toward Alya with a perverted expression.

Alya yelled in fear and slapped in front of her.

Luckily for her, she swiped her hand at the perfect time and hit Hidoi's face.

Hidoi was sent flying a few meters away.

'Her hand... She touched me! Girls only touch boys they like. She must like me!'

Hidoi's mind was not focused on the fight, and his eyes lit up.

'If she likes me... does that mean I can do this and that...'

Blood dripped from his nose as he resumed his dash toward her.

This time with his hands stretched forward.

"Where is the leader? Wasn't I with Little Alaparos and the group in the preparation room a moment ago?"

Alya mumbled.

"They are probably worried about why I'm not there. I need to return quickly!"

She said with newfound confidence and straightened her back.

While straightening her back, her "assets" bounced, and Hidoi's nosebleed worsened.

The young Oni suffered blood loss and passed out.

Alya won by default.

When she returned to the preparation room, she had a wide smile.

"Hey! Little Alaparos, I won! Did I do good?"

The grampy, bull-headed demon looked at her innocent smile and couldn't help but smile back.

"Yes. You did perfectly."

He said, and her smile grew.

"Yey! Little Alaparos!"

She cheered like a little girl.

The next moment, Mira hugged her.

"I'm sorry you needed to suffer through that. That Senior Hidoi is so gross."

The Baal demoness said, and even though Alya didn't understand what this was about, she hugged her junior back.

She was looking with her eyes for Danny, "The Leader," but when she found him, she saw that he was sneaking outside to the arena, and he put his finger on his lips to signal her to be quiet.

"The sixth fight is the smartest low-level demon, Daniel, against Mahōno, the Oni Clan's mage!"

The announcer called.

"Are you ready?"

He asked the two participants. And they both nodded.

The Oni Clan's mage... To be honest, Danny didn't check who his opponent was. He was afraid that if he found out that the opposing fighter was too strong, he would get cold feet.

Luckily for him, even though his enemy was a third-year and high-level demon, Danny could still defeat him with magic manipulation and control alone.

"Gekido Ryu!"

The senior summoned a dragon made of fire and sent it after Danny.

"Alsaytarat Almutlaqa."

Danny used the spell for controlling uncontrolled spells.

Even though he used that spell, it wasn't Mahōno's fault that the spell was out of control.

This summoning spell summoned a dragon made of fire as sort of a familiar with its own mind and reason. The only thing making it listen to its summoner is a mental link that it could ignore.

The dragon quickly changed his direction and started attacking Mahōno, but the young demon quickly deactivated the spell and returned the dragon made of fire to whatever abyss he pulled him out of.

"Is this how you keep beating people?"

Mahōno asked Danny.

"What do you mean?"

Danny played the fool.

"You let stronger demons use high-level spells and then take control of them. Aren't you a sly one? Huh."

The Oni chuckled.

"And what if it is my strategy?"

Danny asked.

"It won't work on an Oni Clan member. I might be stronger than an average Oni at using magic, but I also have the same physical strength as an average clan member."

Mahōno said and dashed in Danny's direction with his arm ready to deliver a punch.

Danny didn't move until the last second when he ducked under his opponent's fist, grabbed Mahōno's arm, and flipped the Oni demon on his back.

"How did you move so fast?!"

The senior asked in disarray.

"Sorry, I'm too sly to answer that one."

Danny bowed as he smiled a confident grin.

"You little shit!"

Mahōno rose quickly, and Roundhouse kicked in the direction of Danny's head, but as with the punch, Danny saw the magic infused in his senior's muscles and knew what he was planning to do.

Danny ran at his senior while the latter was on one leg, mid-kick, and tackled him to the ground.

Then, he started punching him in the face while sitting on top of him and not letting him get up.

Even though Mahōno was a high-level demon from the mascle-obsessed Oni Clan, he couldn't handle constantly and viciously receiving hits to his head. Quickly, he passed out.

The entire audience looked in shock as the overconfident low-level first-year, the notorious Daniel, rose from the unconscious body of a high-level third-year from the Oni Clan he defeated in both a battle of magic and muscles.

"The winner of the sixth round is Daniel, the smartest low-level demon!"

He called, but neither he nor the audience had digested what had happened, so there wasn't much cheering nor booing from the audience.

Danny looked at the audience. He could see Momotaro, who looked at the fight with an astonished look.

Back when they had their duel, it was with swords. A weapon that Momotaro specialized in, and they had a draw. Now Momotaro watched a match of Danny's and finally understood why he wasn't willing to sign a demon contract as an underling.

He was too good to be Momotaro's underling. Momotaro was even shocked this monster was willing to be his partner. This Daniel was too powerful!

Danny returned to the preparation room when everyone was still watching the screen in awe and sat on a chair by the table.

"So, what are we watching?"

He asked, and they were all startled.

No one knew what to say. Even Marcuse, who was worried about Danny after using that teleportation spell, couldn't think of anything to say.

The first to speak was Alaparos, the bull-headed senior, who was curious about his previous fight against Danny.

"Why did you ask me to use magic in our duel and not just do a physical fight?"

Alaparos asked.

"I have an ability that lets me see magic. The Oni Clan members use magic to enhance their muscles so I can easily avoid his attacks. You, on the other hand, use brute force, so I can't predict your attacks. There was no way for me to defeat you in physical combat."

Danny answered honestly. He trusted that no one in that room would reveal his magic sight ability and didn't think he should hide it.

Alaparos, who listened to his explanation, was shocked. What demon could Danny's father be for him to inherit a magic sight ability?!

"Well, Alaparos, get ready. You're in the eighth round."

Danny said and watched as the seventh fight began.
