At the same time the students were having their second break, the teachers had a meeting in the teachers' lounge at the second building, nicknamed Hell's Hell, to discuss the events that had already unfolded since the start of the year.
It had only been three days since the start of the school year, but there had already been multiple fights, events of misconduct, and that Demon King Competition that was announced by Satan earlier that day.
"Mr. Principal, this is ridiculous. We can't handle all of these different events. If the year continues like that, this year will be ten times harder to manage than previous years. Can't you ask King Satan to cancel or postpone this competition of his?"
The female teacher who spoke on the first day said.
Her name was Ninimma Baal. She had slightly darker skin and black hair.
"Are you a teacher, Ms. Ninimma?"
Mister Hades interjected before the principal could answer.
"Of course I am."
She answered, not understanding where he was going with this.
"This competition has to be this year because his heir is in the first year. He chose to make it a competition so people wouldn't be able to complain once he chose his son. If you haven't figured that out yet, you should rethink your position as a teacher."
The tired-looking demon said.
"HOW DARE Y-"
The female teacher was flabbergasted at this disrespect.
"Mr. Hades is right. When it comes to King Satan's intentions, I mean. I'm not so sure whether he was right about your job."
The old principal chuckled.
"When it comes to the misconduct of students, that's normal. And the fights between students will only increase as the competition's flames heat."
He added, and the female teacher was annoyed.
"Is there nothing we can do to stop this?!"
She asked.
"When it comes to fights, there are only two options. One option would be to kick out all those who fight in the school, but this would only move the fights to uncontrolled areas. And the second option would be..."
The principal thought for a moment.
"Having the fights be held as a tournament, governed by the school. There would still be fights regardless of this tournament, but we will lower the number of fights relating to the Demon King Competition."
The principal said his idea.
"I don't think this will work."
An Oni Clan member said. This was Akuma, one of the physical education teachers.
"Why not?"
A female teacher from the Greek Demon Clan asked.
"The highest results this year are ridiculously higher than the highest results in previous years, and I can guarantee that some students will get hurt."
He answered her question.
"Same goes with the results of the magic tests."
Mr. Hephaestus added.
"In my class, only a few students were much higher, but not enough to affect the average by much."
Hex, the teacher of class 2A, said.
"But aren't the stronger ones those who chose to sign up as participants in the Demon King Competition?"
The teacher of class 1A said. In his class were Hadad, the Baal Clan's heir and the heirs of a few medium-level clans.
"It's the same in my class."
The teacher of class 3A said in agreement. In his class were heirs to medium-level clans and Sekhmet, the heiress of the Egyptian Clan.
"So you worry that the tournament would be too dangerous? When has that ever been an issue? Anyone who chooses to participate will have to sign a contract that releases us of any responsibilities for what would happen."
The principal chuckled.
"This tournament is only to lower the amount of collateral damage from the king's competition."
The principal explained his reasoning, and many of the staff were in awe at his evil genius.
This plan of his would certainly save the school money.
"This tournament will be held tomorrow and the day after."
********
After the break, the students returned to their classes and were debriefed on the tournament that would be held in the next two days.
In Danny's class, after explaining everything written on the form with extensive precision, Mr. Hephaestus, the homeroom teacher, sighed and looked at the class with contempt. There was one question that he dreaded asking, but he legally had to.
"Are there any questions?"
He foolishly hoped that his expression would show the students how much he didn't want to ask that, but maybe they lifted their hands because they wanted to cause him misery...
He can't let such thoughts take hold of him!
"Yes, you. What's your question?"
He pointed at one of the students and said.
"Are there limitations?"
The student asked.
"You have to stay in the ring."
Mr. Hephaestus answered.
"Where is that ring?"
Another student asked without permission.
"In an underground arena. The school usually uses for battle testing and the end-of-the-year tournament."
He answered.
"Can we kill?"
Another student interjected.
"Yes. As I said before, any student who wants to join the competition has to sign a form that releases us from any responsibility."
The rough-looking teacher sighed.
At the sound of his words, saying that murder was allowed in this tournament, many students were shocked, and he could hear their whispers.
"Do we have to take part in the Demon King Competition?"
A female student asked after playing rock paper scissors with her friends to decide who would ask him.
"No. What would even lead you to think that?!"
He asked with worry at his students' lack of logic.
"What exactly are the rules?"
A student who clearly slept through the prior explanation asked. His hair was messy, and he had acidic drool all over his desk.
"You have to stay in the arena, and you have to sign the form."
Mr. Hephaestus answered.
"To participate, do we have to participate in the Demon King Competition?"
A pink-haired student asked.
"No. Can't you kids just read the damn form?!"
The black-haired teacher asked.
And as if it was a saving grace, the bell rang, and the students were free to go home.
