On the second day of the school year, for the first period, they had a joint physical education class with another class.
Danny's class is 4A, and they were about to have a regular first-year examination of their physical capabilities together with class 2A.
"Woo, look at these girls."
A male student from class 2A said to his friend while Danny passed him and went to stand by Marcuse.
"I know my dad, and you got problems, but have you reconsidered?"
The young prince asked his half-brother.
"Well, I apologize for not supporting you... And for probably supporting someone else in the future only to spite YOUR father, but YOUR father can shove it."
Danny answered with an angry tone.
They heard a shrieking whistle and ambiguous shouts from the teacher.
Everyone stood in a line since they assumed that was what the teacher said.
"Sigh... Every damn year... Start running ten laps around the field!"
He ordered, and they all started running.
The teacher was a member of the Oni Clan, a clan of high-level demons known for their physical strength.
He used magic to record where each student was at the start of the run, and based on the finish results, he would mark them.
The field was one hundred and ten meters long and seventy-five meters wide.
The fastest student should finish these ten laps in no more than a minute.
The teacher looked at his watch and then back at the field. He then noticed there were several students at the front.
Momotaro was a human who reincarnated as the Oni Clan's heir. Kronos, heir to the Greek Clan. Chaos, heir to the Greek Clan's Chaos Branch. And Marcuse Bloodborne, the prince of Hell.
These four students were competing closely, and as one minute passed, Momotaro and Chaos reached the finish line simultaneously, and right after them, there were the other two.
After three more minutes, Danny reached the finish line along with the students' majority.
In some light novels, his average grade would be seen as part of a scheme. So, was he hurt by someone before? Was he keeping his true capabilities secret? Was he hiding his identity as a big shot?
Well, no. The reason for his average grade was that high-level demons were naturally more physically attuned than low-level demons. This was not to mention that his half-human side made him weaker than the average low-level demon.
To be frank. Any high-level demon who got a worse score than Danny needed to rethink their life choices.
"Next test!"
The teacher shouted, and they followed him to an indoor pool.
"This test will check how long you can stay underwater!" The teacher said, but then remembered he forgot to mention something.
"Also, if you pass out, you will get a zero on this test!"
The teacher added.
Every year, there was at least that one idiot who would stay in the water for too long because he wanted to pass the test and then pass out.
The four leading scores from the previous test, and Danny achieved an average score on this test.

After several other tests, their tests were done. They sat at the stands and rested as they watched the girls' tests.
During the guy's tests, the girls sat and watched them, and it was now the other way around.
Danny watched them, but he grew bored rather quickly. There wasn't anything interesting.
To class 2A belonged the sister of the Baal Clan's heir. Her name was Ishtar. Danny spoke with her once before and pitied her.
She lived her life completely for her brother's sake and didn't even see what was wrong with that. When Danny asked her about it, she told him that he should learn that devoting oneself to one's family is the most honorable thing a person could do.
Thinking of his father, he couldn't help but think she was wrong. The guy had no care for his family but was still king of Hell. It didn't seem like devotion was that important.
Looking at her now, he remembered why he was approaching her back then. She was a rare, over-polished gem that would destroy herself if someone didn't stop her. She reminded Danny of a friend of his.
But one thing was clear. She didn't destroy herself just yet, which is the reason why the girl's tests were boring. She dominated them seamlessly and without much trouble.
Mira, on the other hand, was rather average. At first, she had impressive physical fits. However, it seemed that her vampire lineage was both a blessing and a curse.
She had above-average capabilities, but the longer she was in the sunlight, the weaker she would get.
The tests continued for a bit longer, and once they were done, the students returned to their homerooms.
********
Even though they returned to their classes, the testing was not done. The reason they went back was because the tests that were left could be done inside.
Many middle schools fabricate their students' magic-level results in order to get higher funds from the government, so the management of S.S.S decided to test their students' magic levels at the start of the year.
If a student's magic level was lower than what the school was informed, said student would be put on watch, and if their score dropped over ten points under average at the midterms, they would be kicked out of the school without a second thought.
In class 4A, there were thirty-one students, and on this "annual test day," each of them had placed their hand on the magic crystal to have their levels tested.
The two top scorers on this test were Chaos and Marcuse, with levels of one hundred seventy-two thousand and one hundred eighty thousand, respectively. The student with the lowest score was Danny, with a minuscule magic level of three hundred.
The second test involving magic was a magic control test.
Mr. Hephaestus stood in front of the class and started explaining.
"For the next test, you need to recite this spell."
He then drew a spell on the board.
"Auctoritas Magicae" is a spell used to condense magic outside one's body into a glowing stave made of pure magic.
The higher the magic level was, the larger the stave was. Also, the higher the magic control was, the more condensed the stave was.
If someone had Marcuse's magic level with Danny's magic control, that person would create a nearly unbreakable war stave with an average length of two meters.
The stave's length and density would be tested, and based on the student's magic level, their magic control would be scored.
"Auctoritas Magicae!"
All the students called with one voice.
In each student's hand, a stave started condensing.
Third place in the class was Marcuse, who had the stave in his hand in almost optimal size because of his immense magic level, but it wasn't condensed as well. The stave was quite soft and very breakable.
He went to Danny to flex on his "inferior" rival but was greatly shocked.
Danny was already comparing his stave with someone else, Chaos.
"Hey, Chaos! So what score would you say your stave gets?"
Marcuse asked the Greek demon.
The student, always covered by chaotic energy, looked at Marcuse and showed him the stave in his hand.
It was clearly better than Marcuse's stave, but not the best.
Marcuse averted his eyes from Chaos's superior stave and looked at Danny with the hope that he wouldn't be the worst among the three.
Danny smirked confidently and opened the palm of his hand. A tiny stick, barely comparable with Marcuse's, floated above it.
Marcuse's eyes shone, and he was sure he was in second place, but his white-haired half-brother dropped the stick to the ground with minimal force.
The floor cracked under the pressure, and Danny crouched to pick up the stick.
His magic level was easily the lowest in Hell, but he knew his magic control was undefeated by these students.
Chaos had already seen this demonstration earlier, but Marcuse, who didn't, was dumbfounded. Why was this low-level demon the best user of magic control in their school?!
