Chapter 21 - First Day

Ughhh… Nom~ Nom~ Nom~

Tanya ate with difficulty as her eyes were still squinted because of drowsiness.

"Ughh… Do we really need to wake up this early!?" Tanya grumbled with sleepy eyes.

Leo chuckled and said, "Yes, daughter. Every day for five years, you'll attend the Training Center from 7 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon. So you'll need to wake up and get ready at 6 in the morning."

"What!?" Tanya widened her eyes, flabbergasted at what she heard from her father.

Jin couldn't help but chuckle at his sister's reaction.

"Are we really going to do that every single day?" Tanya grumbled with a pitiful expression.

Leo's heart softened at his daughter's expression, "Don't worry, you'll still have 2 rest days per week so you can still play all day during rest days."

Hearing her father's words, Tanya's expression became a little bit better.

"In fact, we're lucky because the Training Center is not far away from our house. We don't need to take any carriage and can just take a ten minute walk from here to there." Leo added on after eating a spoonful of steamed rice.

After they ate, Tanya went to wash and dress up while Jin and Leo washed the dishes.

* * *

After locking the door, the three of them set out and walked to the Training Center.

On the way, Jin saw many children who were also accompanied by their parents, going in the same direction as them.

It was clear that many children were also going to attend the Training Center just like them.

He could also see his little sister becoming lively, looking as if she saw some of her friends in the crowd.

Before long, Jin and Tanya saw a large expanse of land on the side filled with various training equipment such as about a hundred training dummies, a massive running track, racks filled with wooden weapons and many more.

"That's the training grounds where you're going to train everyday starting today." Leo smiled, reminiscing about his memories of the Training Center.

"Those buildings right there will be where you're going to learn swordsmanship theories and other lessons aside from practical ones." Leo pointed on the relative number of building stood not far away from the training grounds.

As they walked, Leo introduced the facilities to both Jin and Tanya.

Not long after, they entered a building with the sign "Admissions Office".

"Hey, is that you Leo!?" A gruff voice could be heard the instance they entered the building.

Leo looked around to see who called him and shouted, "Oswin!? Why are you here!? Aren't you supposed to be a knight of Lord Axton!?"

Both Jin and Tanya curiously looked over.

The man their father called Oswin was muscular, very much so. He stood about 2 meter tall, a head taller than their father.

Thei father was already quite tall, that's why the siblings were shocked when they saw Oswin.

"Haha! Lord Axton ordered for me to be an instructor here at the Training Center!" Oswin laughed heartily.

Leo widened his eyes, "What? Why?"

"Well, the Castellan said that his son and daughter would also attend the Training Center and he'd like for me to teach, as well as assist them." Oswin replied as he gave Leo a bear hug.

"Urk! That's enough, I can't breathe!" Leo faltered after Oswin let go of him.

He then looked at his children, "You guys are lucky you'll have a First Class Warrior as an instructor!"

'A First Class, huh…' Jin thought as he saw the energy circulating inside Oswin's body. It felt tens of times more intense than their father's.

However, it was still very lacking compared to when he saw the energy circulating and being emitted by the one called Lord Axton back in the Awakening Ceremony.

Oswin also noticed the children and commented with raised brow, "Oh is this your daughter? The one from the rumors?"

Leo rubbed his nose and said proudly, "Haha, yes! Aren't you jealous I already have someone to succeed me?"

Oswin shook his head, "Oh I'm jealous alright!" Then he turned his gaze to Jin. He noticed his frail image and said, "Leo, your son…"

Before he could say anything, he saw Jin staring directly at him.

The feeling of being seen through overwhelmed his senses. It was as if he was suddenly naked and felt very uncomfortable.

He shook his head to get rid of the feeling, 'Am I hallucinating? Maybe I drunk a bit too much…'

"You're son is also outstanding!" Oswin laughed heartily.

However, he knew that the boy didn't have an energy core and energy circuits from the lack of energy he could feel from Jin.

Leo gave him a smile of gratitude before saying, "Alright! I'll go and enroll my children first. I hope they'll learn a lot from you!"

Oswin laughed and replied, "Haha! Of course, who do you think I am! I'll invite you for a drink later, it's been a while since we drunk with Rowan and the others."

Leo happily nodded in agreement before bidding farewell to him.

"Who's that, dad?" Tanya asked curiously.

Leo smiled, as if reminiscing from the memories of the past, "He's my friend back then when I'm training in the Training Center. He's more talented than me and was recruited to be Lord Axton's knight."

They conversed as they walked. Jin and Tanya became curious about their father's time in the Training Center. Therefore, they asked many things about it.

Soon enough, they arrived at the reception desk located at the center of the Admissions Office.

Jin and Tanya only saw their father talking to the woman for a few minutes. Then, he gave her a pouch of gold coins.

After that, he went to them with a smile and said, "All done! The official said that all the trainees must go to the training grounds for assembly."

"Are you coming with us?" Asked Tanya.

Leo shook his head, "No, daughter. It will only be you and your brother."

When he saw his daughter fidgeting, Leo smiled and asked, "Are you nervous?"

Tanya nodded shyly. "Mhm."

"Aww, you can do this! Dad believes in you two!" Leo smiled as he cheered his children on.

Although he was unwilling, it was important for them to develop independence as aspiring warriors.

After all, he couldn't possibly be there for them forever.
