Chereads / The Alpha in Grey Shadows / Chapter 32 - Jealous

Chapter 32 - Jealous

As Jayden looked at himself through the mirror, he reminisced about his first day of school.

How he stood in front of the mirror and admired himself through it.

The look on his father's face when he saw him in a suit.

Now, he was there again, only this time he wasn't in a suit.

Jayden was dressed in a black shirt with a black jacket over it. His legs were covered in majestic black pants as well as black socks and shoes. It wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out he liked the color black.

'This is better, right?'

He went downstairs to join the family for breakfast.

Davina almost spit out the cereal she was eating when she saw him.

"What? I know I look good," Jayden bragged.

Davina rolled her eyes.

Erica remained silent, her eyes fixed on Jayden's hair.

'His hair, its not exactly black.'

There was a streak of grey that ran across the left side of his head, but to s normal person, the rest was black.

Unless one had keen perception, they wouldn't even notice it.

"Good morning, Aunt Erica.'

Erica smiled at him and returned the greetings.

Soon they were in the car, and off they went.

Davina looked at Jayden. He was shivering slightly, and his palms were sweating.

'Poor thing,' she thought to herself. Only Jayden knew what he felt at the moment.

Since that day, he had never stepped foot outside Greystone Hill's limits. He was a person of interest, and the thought of walking down the hallway frightened him.

He felt a warm, soft hand lock its fingers on his, and looked at Davina.

She gave him a soft smile and turned her gaze.

Jayden started to calm down. "Thanks," he whispered, but Davina heard it.

Erica dropped the duo off at the gate.

Somebody in the crowd yelled, "Hey, that's him! The wanted guy!"

All heads turned to look at Jayden. The stares made him feel unwelcomed, and he took a small step back.

Davina yelled, "What are you staring at?! Find a gorgeous brother of your own, stop ogling at mine!"

With that, she walked ahead, with a fierce gaze. Jayden followed behind. What surprised him was the way the other students opened up for Davina as she walked past.

Jayden attempted to pass as well, but those troublesome members of society just couldn't help but block his path.

"Where do you think you're going, fugitive?"

Jayden tried his best to keep a level head," I was exonerated."

"Could you let me pass?" He asked.

His bag was snatched suddenly, and when he turned to look at the fool who did it, he was shoved quite roughly, and he fell to the ground.

The group gathered around him, while the rest of the crowd stayed back, pretending to be minding their own business. Deep inside, they were yearning for drama.

Jayden went on one knee, facing the ground.

He could feel it, that rage bubbling up from within him.

He felt the urge to kill, the desire to shed blood.

It was slower than last time, but he could feel his bloodlust take over, and he wanted to embrace it.

His eyes began to flicker between bright gold and brown, claws elongating from his clenched fist, digging into his flesh.

Jayden heard the distinct sound of a punch, and four more.

"Hey buddy, get up. A hand was held out to him. It was Aiden's. Jayden received it and stood up.

Austin was dusting his palms. "No bullying in school."

Everyone stared at him.

He just came from beating up four guys and still has the guts to say, 'No bullying!?'

Austin and Jayden walked into the school premises and headed to class. Aiden stayed behind, he still had something to say.

He looked at the group he and Austin beat up and said, "You're lucky we saved you in time, else he'd have done much worse. I'd advise you to stay away from him."

He walked away.

As they walked down the hallway, Jayden said, "Thanks."

"No problem," they replied at the same time.

When they got into class, they were greeted by a surprise.

Sitting down were two girls, definitely newcomers. Aiden and Austin didn't think much of them. Jayden couldn't stop staring at one of them.

She was staring at him too.

Sofia broke into a smile.

"Hello, Jayden!"

In the corner, Maya raised her head, and looked that way.

"He knows this girl?!" For some reason, it annoyed her.

Jayden smiled back and replied, "Hey Sofia. Didn't expect to see you here."

Aiden and Austin asked simultaneously, "Wait, you know this girl?"

"Yeah, long story. We met at the Chief's place last week."

Aiden pulled Jayden to the side. "You don't fancy her, do you?"

"No, no. Of course not. Why do you ask?"

Aiden replied, "Look to your North West." Jayden saw Maya looking at him before looking back at her book.

Aiden smiled and left Jayden.

The trio walked to their corner and sat down.

Jayden said, "Hey Maya."

Silence.

"Maya, can you hear me?"

Silence.

"Maya...."

"I heard you the first time!" Maya snapped. Still she didn't lift her gaze from the book.

Jayden was confused, while Aiden and Austin had one thought in mind.

'Is she...jealous?!'

During break time, the group went to the cafeteria. Maya was slightly behind them.

Sofia was walking beside Jayden, and Maya was getting irritated.

Aiden noticed the slight increase in temperature, and his body reacted slightly.

It turned out he wasn't the only one, Austin felt it too.

"We need to calm Maya down!"

They took Maya out of the cafeteria and outside.

Jayden saw them leaving, and to be honest he wanted to follow. Unfortunately he couldn't.

Sofia felt something pinch her, and realization dawned on her.

"Oh, so sorry! Allow me to introduce you to my best friend, Elena."

Elena, finally getting the duo's attention, reached her hand out. "Nice to meet you, I'm Elena Silver."

"Jayden Greystone." Jayden shook her hand firmly, just like his father taught him too.

Well, maybe he used a little bit too much strength. He saw a pained expression on Elena's face for a split second before it vanished.

He apologized for that. "No, its fine."

Elena's eyes practically turned to hearts at that moment.

Jayden's trio of friends walked back in, Maya had successfully managed to calm down.

They all sat down together, but not once did Maya even look at Jayden.

Aiden and Austin's suspicions were being confirmed.

Maya was jealous.
