Chapter 1 - New Beginning

"HELP! HELP! A MAN'S BEEN SHOT!"

"WE NEED HELP! PLEASE!"

"HELP!! HELP!!!!"

Hearing the clamoring shouts of people who stood crowded over my body calling for help I looked down at the three gunshot wounds in my chest as I felt my life slowly fading away.

I sighed, "So this is how I go out huh?" I asked myself as I laughed at my unfortunate situation.

Getting killed in a drive-by shooting due to mistaken identity. Shit is crazy to me. Well, I guess that's what comes with the street life: Death or Jail.

What's crazy is that I knew this day would come but not like this. I thought I would've gotten set up by a bitch and then shot by the opps due to all the work I put in the streets, not getting killed by fucking mistaken identity. I don't even know who those guys were, I don't even think I have beef with them.

Hearing the sirens that were somehow getting louder as my senses were fading away I laughed inwardly at the false hope of these pedestrians.

These wounds were fatal. I wasn't going to make it.

I hope my friends don't make me a damn hashtag. God forbid that they put me on a shirt or in their bio. If they do that I'm haunting those bastards for the rest of their lives or returning a cursed spirit and giving them nothing but misfortune.

"We're here. Everyone, please move out of the way as we provide aid. Move it! MOVE THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY NOW!!!"

'Oh, so they're finally here huh' I thought as my vision faded to black as the feeling of death swept over me.

...

...

...

Opening my eyes and seeing nothing but a black void, an instinctual fear and sense of despair washed over my body immediately.

"This better be limbo and not the true afterlife. Oh fuck no. I refuse to just float in a damn black void, I'm not going out like this. That shit is dead."

I didn't even know if I still had a body within this void that I could only assume is limbo due to my absolute denial of this being the true afterlife.

"Looks like we got another interesting one huh?" Spoke a regal voice that had my spiritual body or whatever form I was in right now frozen.

My body was completely stuck, I couldn't even turn my head to see where the voice was coming from. I could only use my eyes but that wasn't going to give me much help since it's not like I can see from the back of my head.

A handsome man appeared in front of me after the voice finished speaking. He had pale skin, golden hair, and eyes. All of his features seemed to be detailed to perfection. he looked at me with a smile as his eyes seemed to gleam with amusement and interest.

"It's ok kid, nothing is going to happen to you. Well, that's not true but I promise nothing bad will happen to you." He assured with a warm smile that would even make devils open up to him.

"What do you mean? And where am I?" I asked, getting straight to the point. I wasn't here to waste time, I needed answers.

"Straight to the point huh? I like people like you and based on your memories of your past life you seem to be pretty intelligent. You might just survive in this world after all."

Past life? This world?

"To make things short and simp-"

"Tell me everything," I interrupted bluntly, "I feel like this is the only time that I'll be able to get so much important info so easily, besides I already feel like I'm about to be dragged into a huge mess and that I'll get packed up quickly if I lack information. So it's best that you tell me everything right now."

The man looked at me with wide eyes and ran his eyes up and down as if he was analyzing some exotic creature.

Feeling increasingly uncomfortable as his fixed gaze on me went on longer and longer I finally snapped, "Can you tell me what is going on instead of staring at me so intently? I don't swing that way in case you didn't know. Or did you skip over the amount of pussy I was getting when you were going through my past life?"

The being finally seemed to snap out of his trance and regained his senses, "My bad kid, I was just lost in the fact that this might be one of the few transmigrators that didn't lose their brain cells after their death." He replied.

"So since you want to know everything I'll tell you as much as I can. You will be transmigrated into the fantasy world known as Neo-Oblivion." He explained making my mind begin to zone out from pure shock and disbelief.

Neo-Oblivion?! No way. This has to be a sick coincidence right? RIGHT??

"Based on the shock on your face I can guess what you are thinking and to answer your incoming question, no; this is not some coincidence. You are indeed being reincarnated into the same world you've seen in a novel that you probably know very well called-"

"Blood of Darkness." I cut him off with a grim expression on the face of whatever form I was currently in and my frown only became deeper with the grin that was growing on his face.

Blood of Darkness was a novel that I was recently reading online. It was a fantasy novel that was known for its world, characters but most importantly its dark and fucked up atmosphere. If I got to be honest that novel had absolutely no chill. The author was more than willing to cross any and all lines, even for a person like me who was not easily shocked there were some moments where I felt nothing but pity for what happened to certain characters in the novels for how they went out.

I wouldn't wish those types of fates on my worse enemies...and that's saying something.

It was about a kid who got disowned by his family and betrayed by the ones he loves the most, he then decided to kill himself out of pure despair until he runs across a demon's inheritance.

But not everything is as clear as it seems, turns out that there was a lot more going on behind the shadows and that the kid was being manipulated by powerhouses and was nothing more than a pawn on the chessboard. It turns out that the story was more mysterious and complex than the readers thought, even the kid who we all thought was the chosen one through cruel fate was nothing more than an ant.

The kid falls off the deep end and succumbs to complete depravity and begins his own crime syndicate. He doesn't bother getting revenge on those who played a role in his fall until later in the story but the story is not just in his pov but all other main characters in the story, some of them even include those who played crucial actions in the main character's fall.

The story was still ongoing at the time of my death but it turned out that what I read up to was merely the prelude to the real story.

Everything was about to kick off with the introduction of the mysterious artifact that was simply known as:

The Tower.
