Alexander stares up at Madeleine with questionable eyes.
"It wasn't just a coincidence," Madeleine seems to be mumbling something to herself as she muse.
"They want her alive. I saw something on her wrist and I wanted to speak with you about it."
She stares at Muriel for some seconds before taking her attention back to Alexander whose eyes are on Muriel.
"Why did you use that spell on her?" Alexander's voice sounds a bit angry.
He helped Muriel to lie straight on the bed, Madeleine has just used a sleeping spell on her.
"I just want to confirm something." Madeleine moves closer to the bed as her eyes search Muriel's body as if the little girl has something odd on herself. "This is strange. Why did the spell work on her? I use that spell only for humans. I couldn't read her mind which shows that she's not human, but why did the sleeping spell I use only for humans works so quickly on her? Is she half human and…"
"What are you trying to say, Madeleine?" she couldn't finish up her sentence before the already impertinent Alexander threw a question at her.
"I don't think your mate is a human. I mean, I don't know what exactly she is."
"What do you mean?" Alexander sounds muddled "She smells like a human and her parents were humans too."
"And how sure are you about that? You only saw her parents when they were already dead. She smells like a human, that is right but not the whole truth.
"I can easily read the minds of humans and also the minds of weak immortals but it was hard for me to read your mate's mind, which means she's not human. But the sleeping spell I uses on humans works on her and now I don't know what she is, is she a human or not? Or is she a half human and half something else?" Madeleine questioned no one in particular.
This question has been bothering her since last night. Question of who Muriel is. She smells like human but Madeleine doubts if she is one.
When she was treating Muriel's wound last night, she wanted to read through her mind like she subconsciously does to some humans but the only thing she could feel was her pain and how traumatized she was. She couldn't read her mind and she could feel some strange forces blocking her away from doing so.
"I saw a golden star mark on her wrist. It just flashed for a second and wasn't there in the next second."
"And why do you look terrified to say that?" Alexander asked based on the quivering look on Madeleine.
"If what I saw on her wrist is true, it means that your mate is something no one can imagine. She is something dangerous. So dangerous that it can't be controlled."
The moment Madeleine said those words. A petrifying scream escaped from Muriel's lips.
Both Madeleine and Alexander were shocked by what they saw that second on Muriel.
Muriel's body was glowing yellow flames as she was struggling on the bed as if something is trying to strangle her or some forces are trying to take her down.
"Don't step forward Alexander!" Madeleine shrieked but Alexander ignored her and tried rushing towards his mate.
She's battling something within her and he needs to wake her up before it hurts her. But before he could step closer to her, a sudden fierce wind gushed and swept him off his feet, Madeleine wasn't left out.
This rendered both of them shocked and speechless, especially Alexander. How can a mere wind sweep him off his feet?
What just happened!
"Muriel!" Madeleine hollers.
This is getting out of hand, this girl could turn into something not expected if nothing is done.
As Muriel was trying to go wild, Madeleine quickly used her taming spell on her, surprisingly the spell worked on her.
Madeleine was greatly flummoxed.
If Muriel is who Madeleine thought she was, the spell shouldn't work on her but it did work on her. Madeleine only used that spell out of instinct but surprisingly it tamed Muriel.
Who the heck is this girl? Why was there a golden star mark on her wrist or was it just an imagination?
"But I am sure of what I saw," Madeleine mumbled inwardly as her eyes gallivant on Muriel.
Muriel calmed down and relaxed in bed after Madeleine had used the spell, the gusty wind stopped and everywhere got calmed.
"Who the heck are you?" Madeleine muffle.
"What was that?" Alexander asked no one in particular as he walked towards his mate. What happened seems so strange and surreal to him.
His weight pressed on the bed as he sits close to Muriel who has gone back to sleep. Her body has stopped glowing and she remains calm as if nothing has happened. Her face looks pale, beautiful and innocent.
Alexander brushes his fingers through her hair. He doesn't understand what happened just now, he glances at Madeleine who seems to be in a deep thought— to know if she has a slightest idea of what happened.
"The prophecy."
Madeleine speaks up, Alexander turns his attention towards her with a puzzle look.
"What prophecy?" he let off the question in his mind.
"It was made among the witches some years ago but it never came to pass or it just did with your mate." Madeleine sounds as if she's not sure of her words but yet, her mind keeps telling her that she's right.
What she was thinking about Muriel is right because that's the only thing that can explain that golden star mark on her wrist because in the prophecy the golden star mark was mentioned and the last pure blood witch must be born with it.
The mark was hidden inside Muriel, it only flashed for a second. Maybe there was a reason why the mark was hidden, Madeleine can't decipher it.
"Stop speaking in riddles, Madeleine, go straight to the point. Does the so-called prophecy have something to do with what happened just now?" Alexander was impatient.
Madeleine took a deep breath before she stated; "Partially, it does. What I saw on her wrist some while ago gave off a hint that she might be the last pure blood witch… a prophecy made years ago."
