Chapter 13 - Chapter 12: Apologize (Part 3)

I'm tapping my fingers while reading my dad's letter. Mrs. Sherlyn and her daughters were eating their breakfast. I feel bad about making her come here because of me. At first, they have a plan to camp for 4 days at Huston. "If you want to go, it's fine. I can take care of myself."

Mrs. Sherlyn stared at me, then sighed. The rumor fast to spread since it's a small town. "Mom…" Mrs. Sherlyn facepalmed herself.

"Hey, sweetheart," right. Child. "Dad almost arrived. Can you wait outside with uncle Kenneth there?" I put on my dad's letter, then looked at Mrs. Sherlyn's face.

Mrs. Sherlyn pulled my chair, then slapped my face. "I thought you can control your temper, Julia!" I think I'm getting used to it. Mrs. Sherlyn took a deep breath, then exhale it slowly through her mouth. I don't know this town was too sensitive with violent, including her.

Her screaming last night keeps ringing in my ears. Fuck! I can't concentrate. "Mrs. Sherlyn," she looks at me. I know it's not my business. I'm just a tourist. "What happened to this town?"

Mrs. Sherlyn did not answer my question. That kind of behaviour… I'm sure she's hiding something. Something that is so big, dark, and unforgettable. If I recall, Mr. Kenna once told me to be careful with Jason. I know Jason is a violent guy.

If I put the pieces together, maybe… Rose has something to do with this. "Julia? Earth called Julia?" I took a deep breath, then looked at who was standing in front of me.

"I thought you weren't coming." Kirana sits in front of me while Mrs. Sherlyn keeps observing us from Evelyn's desk. Mrs. Sherlyn was a mom for young people around this town. She owned a bookstore. A heritage from her late father.

She always asking me about my problem, but I never showed her. I took a deep breath and looked at her. "It's fine, Mrs. Sherlyn. You can join us for this discussion." At least I already allowed her.

I took a deep breath as I looked at her. "The woman who was sitting there, Kirana. Is the only witness we had this conversation. I had a girlfriend before that, but we know broke up. It's been two weeks! The woman who was standing there last night wasn't the reason I broke up with her."

Kirana kept stare, then looking to Mrs. Sherlyn. I'm not afraid of my dad or her. "It's that true?" She asked Mrs. Sherlyn.

Mrs. Sherlyn nodding her head. "She… loved her, but its toxic relationship. You should read a magazine in this month's edition. Julia's career was fine, but not her."

Kirana relief. "Why you don't tell me?" I'm scratching my hair. Oh God! I hate to admit that the guy has the worst hair treatment ever! I like my haircut, but this is not what I paid for.

"You didn't ask first."

Kirana rolled her eyes. She snatched my dad's letter, then read it. "You want to take it?" She looks at me. Is that a question you want me to answer? Bruh, it's lame.

"Should I take it, my cousin?" Kirana shook her head, then torn the letter into pieces. I don't expect she doesn't tear that letter into pieces.

"You should apologize to Irene and the woman last night, Julia."

She's right. I should be told Irene the truth. She deserved knew all of it. The reason I'm doing this all along. For Rose… maybe I should find a right moment.

A white sedan car stopped in front of us. A woman wearing a fur white jacket gets out from her car and carrying a handbag same as the color of her dress, red. She's look beautiful in that dress. That woman standing in front of her car with the highlight lamp brightness this windy night.

"Why you called me again!? I told you not to call me!" She said. It's a long journey to arrive, but she's coming after all.

"I'm not called you, but my cousin does." Kirana waving her hand. Irene did not respond because I know she can't believe it. Kirana was standing behind me, tapped my shoulder.

I think it's time. "Do you know… her?" I asked. Irene just standing there. Stared at us, clenching her jaw. "I'm here not having a war with you. I want to apologize because..."

"What do you want to apologize for? Breaking my heart!?" She cuts my word as she heard the word apologize. "All these years. We are together. You never said that word to me!"

My Goddess! It's that hard to get forgiveness to human these days!? Fuck! I regret about this plan. "She has genuine intention, Ms. Jang. She…" Irene rushed get back inside her car, then leave.

We took a deep breath. "I think… it didn't work that easy." Kirana tapped my shoulder and wearing her helmet.

"Here's your order," Kirana said as she put my coffee in front of me. "You… look not energized as before." Kirana petting my hair.

I took a deep breath, then looked at her. "I want to have a vacation here, Kirana, and you…" Kirana raised her eyebrow.

"Me?"

I shook my head, then took a deep breath. "It's never been easy for us to spending time together as a couple, anyway." It's true. We barely meet.

"You still love her?" I'm nodding my head. As a lesbian. My life has never been easy. It's a story for another time, and I don't want to spill the bean. Kirana stand up, then grabbed her coffee. "Do you know where a place we can talk? This is loud."

I followed her outside the coffee shop, then I saw Jason. Oh, the field trip is over? Jason approach me. We glare at each other. "Julia…" I pushed him, then looked at Kirana.

"It's a family time, Jason. Please, get the fuck off from my face!" Kirana pulled me to where I parked my motorcycle is before things turns ugly.
