Chapter 14 - Chapter 13: Somehow, I Still Love Her (Part 1)

I handing Kirana a cup of noodle, then sit next to her. "I miss we spending time like this, Julia." We decide to visit this place because we need a time. She's right.

I miss to spending time with my family. Since I moved to Oklahoma with my uncle, Kirana's family was the one who cares for me. Until today. Kirana's family didn't know about her relationship with Anthony.

They forbid her to get married with American because… it's their tradition, but Kirana same as like me. She runaway from her home in Oklahoma, then moved to Kansas with him. After that, I don't hear about her again until my dad sends her to bring me home.

For me, what's the matter now, we found peace. Every peaceful life, there's always someone who tried to take it. You have a good life. Money, fame, what else? Power? "How's your life with Anthony? I heard that man sick." Kirana rolled her eyes, then pushed me.

"Duh… Julia. Don't be so taboo about that, please!" She bites her noodles. "Our life was good until your dad's right man asked me to bring you home." She said.

"I'm sorry about that." I wiped my hand with a napkin, then straightened my body. "It's suck I guess?" Kirana nodding her head.

I'm understanding why she felt that way. "Anthony is Anthony, Julia. He bit "sick" as you said before, but honestly… I like it that way." God. I thought Kirana would agree with me.

I took a sip of this orange juice. Finally, I can spend my time with her. No more hurried because of my schedule tight. I can eat anything I want, spending time at the public place where no one knows you. Well, technically Rockeness' resident knew me, but they just don't care.

They treat me as the guest. Not a celebrity. I walked to the edge, then look down. Shit, it's high. "What the fuck you doing?!" Kirana pulled me.

"Whoa… easy." I'm not trying to jump from that edge. My phone was ringing, then sighed. I reject the call and turned off my phone. I should change my number. "Do you remember when we… played at Jackson's house?"

Kirana nodding her head. "Why? You missed him?" Kirana closed her eyes, enjoying the chilly breeze blow through her face.

"No, somehow I think about him," Kirana hummed. She puts her head on my shoulder. Kirana and him, they often seeing each other while in highschool. I haven't visited his graveyard in decades. Losing him made us feel so distant. Kirana, Jackson, and I were a best friend.

When we need advice, he can help. After we graduate, we decide to join a SEAL. He can't make it because of his lung, so he joined a paramedic. "What if…" Kirana looks at me, "we visiting his grave?" I raised my eyebrow.

"Right now?" I asked her.

Kirana shook her head. Oh, I thought she wants to visit him tonight. "After you finished your book." Kirana took a deep breath, then looks at me. "Sometimes I wondering why you don't want to go back? Some people in Indonesia were the same as you, but they keep it a low key."

Well, this question is getting more personal. I took a deep breath, then looked at the ship that docked in the middle of the storm. "My dad never forgives me because I'm the reason for my mom's death. For him, I am just a bad omen for his life."

Ironic, isn't it? I never go back to my country because of my dad never wanted me, and now… he wants me back to save him from bankruptcy. If love or freedom can exchange into currency, my dad can afford that, but I don't want to do that.

I don't want having my dad's company in exchange marry to a man who I didn't know. I heard Kirana's phone ringing, then she rolled her eyes. "Anthony?" Kirana rolled her eyes.

"Hey, babe!" Kirana walked away from me. Everyone has mom or daddy issues, right? What problem do we have? We also have differences in taking care of it. Some of them don't have any issue with their family, but… maybe they have an issue with their partner.

All these years, I have never felt so relaxed. Watching movies, walking to the public sidewalk, meeting new people, and eating at the dinner are the beautiful memories I have. "Julia…" Kirana called me. "Um… can we go back? Irene was in trouble."

I took a deep breath, then sighed. One thing she should fix is stop bother me for a day. At least, we have in common.

I opened the door, then looked at Irene, who was already lying unconscious on the bed. "Your girl was drunk. Glad I met her," Anthony put his arm around Kirana's waist, then kissed her cheek.

Alright, this time I will take care of her. "Thank you and… I'm sorry about the mess she caused, Anth. I appreciate it." Anthony patted my shoulders.

"This town is new for us! How you can get this place!?" Anthony oh, Anthony. I don't know either how I can get invited to this town.

"Babe.. stop. Let Julia get some rest," Kirana change the topic to avoid the question. I owe yo one, Kirana.

Anthony pulled her to get closer, then looks at me. "If she annoyed you, please tell me. I could punish her until she…"

"Alright, alright! I get it, brother." I pushed them outside from our room. "Julia never…" I closed the door before he could have finished his words. What I don't like about Anthony is forcing people to punish her. She's a human, duh! Not a slave. I can't imagine how Kirana can stand with a man like him.

I never expect he saying anything else besides a dirty talk about his wife. Maybe… I should bring my laptop and note while waiting her to awake.

She will not be awake so soon. At least I was here. Waiting for her to awake and remain conscious. Right, she needs pain killer and pickle juice. Well, I hope I could still buy some groceries before she awake.
