Chapter 19 - Chapter 18: Hill of The Broken Heart (Part 1)

I sit next to Kirana and picked my phone to checking a signal. "Morning, my cousin." She put six slices on my plate. Last night, I was sleeping like a baby.

"Good morning, both of you!" Mrs. Jenkins sits, followed by her butler, who was standing behind her. I hummed and start focusing on eating this bread. "How's your sleep, Ms. Harianto?" Kirana pokes my shoulder.

Awkward. "I… sleep like a baby." I said. Mrs. Jenkins nodding her head and I took a glance at her.

Kirana cleared her throat. "Ms. Harianto and I wanted to see the kids today, also we want interview them on behalf of her book." Mrs. Jenkins did not answer my question. I took a deep breath. She disapprove it? "Do you…"

"What about later that night? After dinner?" We furrowed our brow. We want to see the kid. I hold Kirana's hand, then shook my head.

I put my knife, then straightened my body. "Mrs. Jenkins, we came here to see the kids, and to make this orphanage have more donator and deliver them to their new house." I looked into her eyes.

Mrs. Jenkins took a deep breath, then she wiped her mouth. "This conversation will continue after I talk with Father Matthew. Enjoy your breakfast." She left us at this table. None of us want to comment about her answer.

I looked at Kirana, and she shrugged her shoulders. I stand up and walked to the main door. There, I meet Mr. Rakesh closed the door. "Oh, Ms. Harianto. Do you need anything?" His accent seems he's not from here. British maybe?

I can feel my heart beating fast. Ugh, I don't like the situation inside this mansion. "Is there… any small town nearby?" Mr. Rakesh shook his head.

Mr. Rakesh "Do you need anything? Today the chef will go to the Rockeness to buy groceries." He said.

Oh, monthly groceries. I shook my head and go back to the dining room. Kirana walking approaching me. She gives me a glass of milk. "You haven't breakfast." I shook my head, then go to my study room.

I ignore Kirana called my last name. What's inside my head right now is Charlie and Mrs. Brag Bitch's answer. No one wants to meet children in the night time. "Are you alright?" Kirana closed the door.

I picked my phone. I've got two bars. "Standing here. I've got a signal." I pulled Kirana closer. Irene sending me a message. Why did Tyler keep messaging me?

"Oh my God! Irene broke up with Tyler?" Kirana looks at me. "This is your chance! Tyler looks like a douche, anyway."

Should I? I put my diary on the table, then my laptop. I'm looking at the sky and sighed. Mom, what should I do? Should I be back on her side? Kirana tapped my shoulder and she joining me. "Irene still loves me, Kirana. We still love each other, but…"

Kirana grabbed my hand and looks at me. "Everything will be alright, Julia. If you keep lying to yourself. That means you don't love yourself."

I nodding my head, then picked my phone. I lost the signal again. God, where I can find the signal!? That trailer camp! Maybe at that place we have a signal. "What if… we go to that camp?"

Kirana furrowed her brow. "Julia it's…"

"You miss Anthony, right? I want to call Irene from there. Maybe… we can rent and stay there?" Kirana snap her fingers. We walked towards the door, but Mrs. Jenkins gets into this study room with Mr. Rakesh followed behind her.

I hope she doesn't hear our conversation. "Mr. Rakesh told me that Ms. Harianto want searching for a small town?" She asking a question as she stared at Kirana.

I cleared my throat and looked at Mrs. Brag Bitch. "Mrs. Jenkins, I need to buy a certain drug for my health. That chef doesn't have a permission…" I took a deep breath. My heart keeps beating fast. Kirana holds my body, then sits me on the couch in the center of this room.

"Can I ask for a plate of breakfast platter and orange juice? She hasn't had breakfast." Mr. Rakesh nodding his head, leaving his master on the doorsill, looks at me.

"Do you have…"

"You can meet the children tomorrow," thank God. She left us after she said that way. It will become our first step closer to the truth. Since I stepped my foot into this estate, I don't like with this atmosphere. While the children prohibited to visit west wing?

I've been meeting with a bunch of a rich people. Some of them want to make charity for reputation. Like, what's behind of their charity? Stock? Can we forget all of that thing for a while? We died not carrying anything. "What is inside your head now?" I looked at my dearest cousin.

I grabbed her hand. She grip it tight. Her squinted eyes make me realize something. I'm not the only one who experiencing this. "I want a pancake for dinner with maple syrup and butter on top. My maple syrup should be directly from Quebec. Escuminac Unblended Maple Syrup the brand I…"

Kirana slaps my head. "Go to hell, you bitch!" She keeps throwing the pillow to my face. "Die!" I catch the pillow and took a deep breath. I have spending my time more with her today. We're not talking about work, or typical girl's talk.

I pulled her to sit next to me and took a deep breath. "You sing, I play the piano." I looked at the piano on the second floor.

Kirana looks at me. "You can play piano!? Since when? Maybe you just playing without knowledge." She picks the peanut from the jar. We're guest here, not the residence. Mr. Rakesh walked with a maid pushed a trolley. I think I should have brunch.

"Mr. Rakesh" he turns his body, then looks at me. "Can I borrow a Jaguar for… later?" He nodding his head. Nice. That's car is the dream of automatic lovers like me. Who doesn't know that Jaguar? Roadster body, no roof, perfect for a date, and it's a 1955 racing car.

"Kirana." Kirana glancing at me. "I want asking you to date tonight as we looking for a signal." She looks at me.

"Where?"

I don't know yet. Maybe I will bring you to the hidden spot on this hill?
