Chapter 1 - ۞ Prologue ۞

Would you believe if I told you that there is another world within our world? Like two dimensions co-existing together but unable to actually relate? Or would you call me crazy and tell me that I should seek therapy?

Well, if you are on the second group, there's something I need to tell you, but you probably won't believe me… Humans aren't the only beings living in this world. Like, at all. It's actually hilarious how humans believe they actually govern earth.

That's quite arrogant of them.

Then you ask me, If that's the case, then what other races exist besides humans, Amethyst? Hmm, pretty much a little bit of everything. From vampires and all types of shifters, to fae, fairy, sirens and even the witches and wizards. If you've read books that tell tales of those races, it's probably a tale that actually came from one of them.

I get it, it can be mind-blowing.

All of the races are reclusive towards the others. In the Montanari Boarding School and the D'Angelo Boarding Academia, where you go to study middle to high school and college, respectively, you can make friends, but that's all. Any type of other relationship such as the romantic kind is extremely prohibited, since all of them are scared shitless of half-breeds, imagine if a half-breed married another… that would be their worst nightmare.

But why are they so full of prejudice against half-breeds, Amethyst? Hm, why? Well, it's kind of simple.

In all the aware races history (the humans are commonly called the unawares since they have no idea about us), the half-breeds have been shown as too strong to control and too dangerous to be near. They are said to be reckless, impulsive, and with a dangerous hunger for chaos and mayhem. Half-breeds are seen as the worst that can exist, and it's one of the two only things all races agreed with, together with the fact that humans are arrogant and stupid beings.

So, breeding with another race is very much a reason to be locked up in the Ministry prison. And you don't want to be locked up by those psychopaths, because you will get tortured. Oh, and just the existence of a half-breed alone is like a life-sentence. If the Ministry gets their hands on your ass, bitch, you are done for.

All because they are scared.

What is this Ministry you are talking about, Amethyst? The Ministry is what I like to call the Council of the Grim Reaper. They are formed by a select group with the strongest representative of the strongest races. It's a position to be earned. They are also above all the Kings and Queens of the aware realms.

Everybody knows them. They are the ones who rules Montanari and D'Angelo, taking personal care on the education of the young generations. But in all honesty, they just do that so they can try to tame the young generations, and make them easier to be controlled. Although the basic education from kindergarten until the end of elementary school is all a duty of the Kingdom you come from.

The Council of the Grim Reaper is made out of 10 Ministers, each representing one of the 10 strongest races. Before you read their titles, don't ask me about them because I don't know either. The only thing I know is that it's like this from generations before I was even born. Yes, it does sounds cheesy, I agree.

Minister of Fire, voice of the Werewolves tribe, the strongest and most respected tribe out of all the shifters, that lives on the Defiant Kingdom, in a continent the unawares like to call North America. His name is Roibeart Defiant, and this guy is 651 years old.

Minister of Water, voice of the Sirens race, that lives on the underwater Kingdom of Atlantis (yeah, you must have heard of it). Her name is Dior III Atlantis, and she's 195 years old, which is considered the middle of the lifespan for Sirens.

Minister of Wind, voice of the Fairy race, that lives on the Eyre Kingdom, in a continent the unawares like to call South America. Her name is, "Mai" Mairead Eyre, and she's the oldest of the current heads of the Council of the Grim Reaper, at 2795 years old. Not really surprising since this is one of the races with the longest lifespans.

Minister of Earth, voice of the Centaur race, that lives in the Gallivant Kingdom, in a continent the unawares call Africa. His name is, "Tormmy" Tormoid Gallivant and he's the youngest of them, at 78 years old, since Centaurs live around 200-300 years.

Minister of Soul, voice of the Seers race, that lives in the Alaverdi Kingdom, in a continent the unawares call Antarctica. Her name is, Ailis Alaverdi, and she's 1655 years old, now she's considered old for a Seer, since they live for around 2000y.

Minister of Mischief, voice of the Vampire race, that lives on the Crimson Kingdom, in a continent the unawares like to call Asia. His name is, Calum Crimson, he's the second oldest at 2559 years old.

Minister of Warfare, voice of the Fae folk, that lives on the Moondust Kingdom, in a continent the unawares like to call Oceania. Her name is, Moire Moondust, and this woman, who's said to be the most gorgeous, even more than Mai and Iseabal, is 2099 years old.

Minister of Emotions, voice of the Witches and Wizards race, that lives on the Vivere Kingdom, in a continent the unawares like to call Europe. Her name is, Sìlis Vivere, she's 1368 years old.

Minister of Death, voice of the Demonic race, that lives on the Woebegone Kingdom, the territory under our surface which the unawares commonly call it Hell. His name is, Domhnall Woebegone, and he's said to be around 278 years old, which is pretty young for a devil.

Minister of the Sky, voice of the Archangels race, that lives on the Kaneria Kingdom, the surface way above ours which the unawares commonly call it Heaven. Her name is, Iseabal Kaneria, and she's 277 years old, also young for her race. And yes, both her and Domhnall seem to be rivals since their time in Montanari and D'Angelo, always competing for everything, even now.

Just to clarify something; when you became a Minister, you become the strongest representative of your Kingdom and race, as I said, even above the Queen and King, so you lose your personal name and becomes one with the state. Changing your first name to a Celtic one (something about the first Ministers all being Celtic) and starts using the name of the Kingdom as your surname. Which proves the scale of power, since not even the Royal families use the name of their Kingdom as their surname per law (a law made by the Council of the Grim Reaper). And if anyone dares to call you by your original name, which you discarded, they can be sentenced to death for disrespect.

Again, don't take their titles literally, they are supposed to be metaphorical.

Now, regarding their base, they overlook all of the important affairs of their respective races, especially the mating subject so there won't be any half-breed mistakes like in the past. However, they all live with their families in an extremely protected archipelago in the middle of the Pacific called Lathurna, where each of them are said to have their respective island so to not mix with each other's personal lives. A place where only them can get in.

Montanari and D'Angelo are also in a island. Two different islands one side to side with the other. Both on the Arctic Ocean, although those islands are neutral territory and protected by the Ministry. It's also surrounded by a magical barrier that avoids everyone from freezing to death.

Oh, and I mentioned the Ministry Prison, right? Forsaken Warhammer. Yes, that's the name. A horrible choice in my honest opinion, but it's not like that matters. It's a maximum-security prison also guarded by the Ministry power, in a secluded territory in the North Pole.

The Council of the Grim Reaper seems to like cold and freezing places that could turn you into a popsicle.

Okay, Amethyst, but where are you going with that? Wait, I'm almost there. You just need to know that to understand how fucked up my situation is.

Imagine the following. Quite cliché, I know, but just stay with me. Imagine if female fae falls for a male vampire and they have a baby boy. Around the same time, a female archangel falls for a male demon, and they have a baby girl. Yes, both half-breeds. Both couples keep what happened between them a secret and the mothers raise their kids, using magic to hid their other part from everyone else.

Later, those two kids who are hidden their actual nature, meet in Montanari and fall in love but don't do anything about. However, when they go to D'Angelo, they couldn't hold it anymore, and end up committing their parents mistakes by having a baby girl together. But they ran away to the last place the Ministry would ever found them, the human world, since half-breeds, unlike the other races, can naturally interact with humans and that's also what might give them away.

In this case, the child is a rare being for being a tetrahybrid. Which is actually unheard of, and represent two times the danger of a normal half-breed.

However, on this case, it's not so hard to hide, since both the fae and the vampires have fangs and pointy ears, whereas both the demons and archangel possess wings, although the archangel have ivory feather-wings and the demons have black bat-wings. But while the archangels can't hide theirs, demons can and act as if they didn't have anything on their backs, which can be deceiving. So, in this child case, she can act like a vampire, by acting as if her ears and fangs were because of that, and hiding her obsidian feather-wings using her demon abilities, whereas she can't hide the vampires claws.

Regarding the jeweled eyes that are a trait of all types of hybrids, she can just use eye lens reinforced with magic, and it's hidden as well.

So, hm, we are talking about you, right? Yes. We are talking about the magnanimous me.

Guess what? My name is Amethyst because my right eye is amethyst, while my left is emerald. Mom and dad then picked my name to be Amethyst-Emerald Bella Howell. Yes, it's cringe and that's why I only say my name is Amethyst or Bella. Anything other than that makes me annoyed.

No. I have absolutely no idea who either of my grandparents are. I also never knew my parents actual surnames, but I know they chose mine because they liked it. I can't say the same. And I also understand that they kept it all a secret for their own parents safety. I would have done the same if I were them. Although, yes, I always was kind of curious to know about it. How wouldn't I be?

Again, I respect my parents more than anything in the world, and most of all, I miss them.
