Chapter 2 - ۞ One ۞

My parents raised me in Liverpool, the unawares territory of England, in the United Kingdom, on Europe. They were rich since I remember and we lived in a private condo, where they homeschooled me. Their names were Catarina and Vincenzo, and that's all I know.

But don't judge them straight-up, according to what they told me, they were very known on their Kingdoms, so they couldn't risk that I slipped my tongue and ended up telling people who my parents were. So, again, it's very understandable. They had ran away. My parents also were wanted by the Council of the Grim Reaper, as we like to call, since they ran away together, and the Ministers were probably scared of them having a baby together.

Which they did.

Besides that, I know pretty much nothing but the fact that they both were always smart, since all half-breeds seem to be genius as well. Mom and dad always avoided touching the matter of their pasts and focused on teaching me about the world, the races, the Ministry, Montanari & D'Angelo, and especially about the danger I'll be in if anyone ever learns what I am.

It was all too good, until my 12th birthday came and we had to say goodbye. They taught me everything and how to hide myself, were very specific while telling me to lay low, to not catch anyone's attention. Mom and dad told me that, as I was going as a vampire-only, if I wanted to date, I should date a vampire not to get in even more trouble.

Then they managed to leave me on a forest in the Crimson Kingdom, and that was the last time I saw them.

I starved for about a week and was feeling sick, since I only had my clothes with me, until one of the Minister of Mischief's underlings, found me unconscious and took me in. His name was George Matthias and he was a kind guy who treated me, gave me food, and when I was healthy enough to talk and told him my name, age, and that my parents had abandoned me in the forest (which was the lie my dad came up with, but not farther from the truth), he took me to Montanari Boarding School and I was thrown at the Vampires faction of the school.

Believe me when I tell you that my 3 years in middle school on that place were pure hell. They bullied the shit out of me for laying low, being quiet, and weird in their eyes. And vampires can be very mean, since we can heal incredibly fast and we pretty much can't die. My first three years in high school weren't nice either.

I'm currently 17, and I'll turn 18 in a month, finally on the last year of high school, my last year in Montanari. And I can't fucking wait to leave to D'Angelo, to get into Gastronomy course, and study what I love. Food.

Just one more year. Everything went right on my 6 years here, I've mastered my disguise. And can you believe that being the weirdo of the Vampire House in school got me a single room? How amazing is that? I don't need to be around those hormonal teenagers of school, who piss me off so damn much.

I just need to hold it together.

I'm months away of my dream college.

Let's not kill anyone as much as I want to.

On my 1st day in 12th grade, I was called in the Principal's office. Eva Beaumont, one of the strongest Faes of the Moondust Kingdom, and who's 3795 years old. She's been the principal here way before the current Ministers had their positions, and she also must have taken care of them in here. It's kind of unsettling to think about that. To think that she took care of my parents when they were here.

Especially when she looks around 27 years old at maximum. Having a glorious black baby skin, big dark green eyes, long curly red-wine hair, heart-shaped lips, with a curvy and beautiful body. She always reminded me of a unware famous singer my mom loved, Rihanna. But besides her eye catching beauty, she's the most frightening being I've ever met, and she always make me anxious.

"Come in, Miss Howell," she said in a very firm and beautiful voice, making a sign for me to sit down right on the chair in front of her. And I did. "I'm sorry, did I called you when you were feasting?" Ugh, I hate that word.

They always use that word for vampires, it's annoying. All of my meals are liquid, in shakes, since it's better for me to have them like that, so I won't have to chew anything, neither will I let anyone catch a glimpse of the piercing in my tongue which I have it since before I came to the aware world. It's a magical item that helps me with my thirsty for blood.

Vampire things.

A nod, "It's a shake of cow blood, oat milk, strawberries, bananas, and condensed milk to make it sweeter. Very nutritious. I made all of the ingredients. And the fruits are the ones I grow in the balcony of my dorm," I spoke it all too fast.

She giggled softly, "Stay on the cow blood, because once you have a taste of someone else's, it'll never be enough." As if I didn't knew.

By dad used to hypnotize humans and bring them so I could drink a bit of their blood, because it would make me stronger while growing up. That's why I need the piercing. "I will. I like cow's blood. Especially when I put some vanilla essence in it, so it looses it's smell, because people around me can be disgusted like before."

"Very thoughtful. You want to go to Gastronomy School in D'Angelo next year, right?" Of course, she's aware of that.

I but my bottom lip softly so I wouldn't hurt them again with my fangs. "Yes. It's been my dream for years."

She gave me a thoughtful look, and I felt even more anxious. "I know that, but Miss Howell, you need to have in mind that to get accepted into Gastronomy School, you need to have better grades."

Then she handed me some papers, I put my bottle on the table and looked at it. It was my grades since I first came in here. All 6. In all subjects, in all years, in everything. 6. No decimals, no 5s, no 7s. Always 6, since it's the minimal number we need to pass with green marks. And it was all purposely, of course, since my parents specifically told me to lay low on my grades and always go in the middle, never too high.

But they never seemed to care about it. "Hm," I gulped. "I don't see a problem here, Mrs. Beaumont. All of my grades are in green marks."

When I looked up to her again, she had a feral grin on, that even showed her fae fangs. "Darling, I had an eye on you, you know? I don't know what your parents taught you before you were abandoned, or how you learned things alone, but, there's one thing that I'm sure of." She stared at me and I was unable to avoid her eyes, "It requires a genius to always keep her grades on the same level."

I gulped, "It was luck."
