Chereads / I Was Reborn As A Commoner, Stopping World Problems / Chapter 21 - Returning Back To Earth

Chapter 21 - Returning Back To Earth

Standing on a cliffside were two individuals, that being Lady Mammon, and her loyal servant, Lorthel.

They stalked a great distance away, appearing on the cliffside with teleportation magic.

But stalking who, you may ask?

It was Olivia and the other children that Godfrey managed to save from inevitable death. The two demons watched their every movement as they were just now waking up inside their stone-igloos and crawling outside in the morning sun.

["I don't understand Lady Mammon, if Richard did kill all of you, how are you alive as we speak?"]

Lorthel recently heard the full story of the Great War of Daguro, ending up confused as anyone else would be.

Richard sacrificed his life in his final attack to kill them all, yet they remained alive through some miracle.

["It was from The Great Priest, also known as Father Asmodeus, we call him."] Responded Mammon.

["Y-You mean the one who rules BlackWing? He brought you all to life once more?"]

Mammon nodded her head slightly.

["He is the spirit of darkness's most loyal priest. Never once in fathers life has he disobeyed an order given to him by the dark spirit."]

["Why would father Asmodeus resurrect you and the others, I don't understand?"] Lorthel asked.

["Hmph, good question, you truly do know how to make conversation Lorthel."] Mammon crossed her arms and smirked. ["Once we vanished into nothingness, erased from Richards skill, father Asmodeus used his powerful dark magic to resurrect us back with a spell that defies life and death, and even controls those concepts. He saw potential in all of us from going toe to toe with one of humanities strongest warriors, thus, he wished for us to join him, and the BlackWing."] Mammon chuckled. ["Fufufu~ of course with my pride at the time, I said no. So did everyone else… but that changed once he shown us his dark magic, gaining all of our attention, and curiosity. We fell right into his hands, and I don't regret it at all."] Mammon held out her hand, forming a sadistic smirk on her face while a black orb appeared on her palm. ["With our dark magic, we have the power to control the fate of the world. That is the true power of us BlackWing, from our connection with the Dark Spirit!"]

Lorthel smirked.

["Controlling destiny itself, isn't that the power that only the most devoted servant of the Dark Spirit can do?"]

["Indeed, it is, Lorthel. My control over destiny has been going well, however with the Sorcerer Discipline Program, it's impossible to use such an ability on them; they defy the laws of the world already, so what is destiny to them? It's something they can do with certain skill-types already."]

["Hmph. Taking over Atlantis City won't be easy, especially if that's the case, but do not worry, Lady Mammon, we will stall for the time being. Our objective is to learn more about Godfrey and his close ones, while also creating ideas to inevitably cause his plans to fail on telling Atlantis City's higher ups about their connection with the BlackWing."]

["I suppose you're right, but it should've been past time for Godfrey to show up, just where is he?"] Muttered Mammon.

Waking up from their blanket and rubbing their eyes was a young red-head. Her face was frowning once she crawled out from the stone-igloo, looking around her to see it was daylight.

["Hey, Godfrey, why didn't you tell us it was morning time? Our parents must be worried sick, and we still haven't gotten the other children home!"] Olivia placed her palms on her hips, glancing around her like a lost puppy. ["Huh? Where is Godfrey?"] Olivia's frown soon turned into a worried expression as she stepped a few feet away from their campsite. ["Hey, Godfrey, where are you hiding?!?"] Olivia's shouting started to wake up the other kids, causing them to crawl out their tents in confusion.

["W-Whats going on, Olivia? Did something happen to Godfrey?"] One of the children asked as they hid behind one of the stone-igloos, nervous for what's to come.

Olivia turned around and bit her tongue, trying her hardest to change her expression.

["O-Oh don't worry, it's nothing to be anxious about! Knowing Godfrey, he must've went out to look for food or something, hahaha! Who knows!? He'll be back though."] Olivia giggled at the children, trying her hardest to lighten up the atmosphere—

But at the same time, she was worried to death.

Her heart felt like it was about to explode from her chest.

("Dang it, what happened when I was asleep? I knew I should've stayed up with him, what was I thinking?") Olivia crossed her arms, facing the other way so the children wouldn't see her worried expression. ("Looks like this is a mystery for Olivia Field to solve. Yeah, that's right! I'll go out and look for Godfrey myself, I'm use to exploring the woods since me and my mom use to do it all the time when I was younger. This should be a walk in the park!") Olivia exhaled from her nose ("It's not like he's hurt or anything. Godfrey is super strong, his magic could even take down those demons with ease! What's gonna stop him? He's unbeatable, and so am I!") And by that, Olivia held out her arm, widening her palm. It was engulfed in a ominous mana. ("This new arm-power can do some crazy stuff! Godfrey said not to use it, so I'll make it a last resort for the bad guys when I run across them.")

Olivia turned around and marched over to the last spot she remembered seeing Godfrey at.

("If memory serves me correctly, Godfrey was here last time we spoke to each other.") She crouched to her knees and inspected the area carefully, patting the ground a few times. ("There's nothing out of the ordinary… and there's also no footprints or tracks either. Man, this is gonna be harder than I thought… ugh! I want some marshmallows from mother right about now!")

["H-Hey Olivia!"] One of the kids from behind the red-head shouted.

["What is it?"] Olivia responded in a groggy tone.

["I think I see him! I think I see Godfrey coming back!"]

Olivia had suddenly jolted up, standing on her feet to look in the distance.

["Huh? Where? Where at?"] Olivia frantically asked.

["He's coming up on the pathway!"]

They could all get a clear view of him now.

Godfrey.

["Good grief, I can't believe we pulled that off Twirl! That was insane, like a roller coaster ride!"] I was still carrying the egg in my arms, not letting it go for all that is holy. Like I said, I'm gonna protect it with my life… but explaining it to everyone is gonna be difficult.

["I don't know what a roller coaster is, but I agree! Twirl and Godfrey together make a killer team! I can't believe you actually learned teleportation magic, and managed to bypass its aftereffects! Seriously man, who are you? Not one person I know can do that!"] Twirl started hopping around sporadically in joy.

["Hahaha… t-to be honest with you Twirl, I don't know how I pulled it off. So many things happened today, I don't know what to really say. But I do have a lot of questioning for my mom once I get back home, that's for sure."]

Yeah, I mean, what can I say? I can blow up mountains with a spell chant, I defeated a dragon and now I'm asked to protect that dragons child. I learned teleportation magic from Twirl, first try, and managed to bypass its aftereffects… somehow.

It's weird, right?

It's like whatever my body experiences, it changes, and adapts to those experiences.

For example; If I experienced something extremely hot that could incinerate you alive in seconds, my body will just adjust to those temperatures to resist being turned into toast.

That's the best example I could give.

It's sorta like a passive evolution of growth in a way.

Must be from my moms side.

Usually when my mom harms herself with something it hurts the first time, but when she does it again, she shows no pain; such as cutting herself with a knife, burning herself on fire, etc.

Whatever the reason for it was, it's useful, that's with 100% certainty.

I guess my body adapted to the teleportation the first time, and changed some magical formula about it, so it wouldn't cause any excruciating pain, or tampering with my cells.

But besides that, I was back to earth!

Can you believe all of that happened in only a few hours? Everyone must be waking up finally.

["Godfrey you bastard!!!"]

Oh shit, speaking of waking up, I knew who's voice that was.

IT WAS OLIVIA FIELD!

Shit, she's charging at me, head-first!

She's like a freaking bull, can't she see I'm holding a fragile egg in my hand? She's gonna get herself hurt!

["Woahhh!"]

I managed to vanish out of sight, and reappear behind Olivia, causing her to stumble forward out of confusion, falling flat on her face.

["W-What the heck did you just do? How did you move that fast???"] Olivia got up from the ground, holding her nose from falling on it.

["Uhhh, did you miss me?"] I responded.

She won't believe me when I tell her the story.

There's no way in hell she'll believe me—

Right?
