Recently I met the spirit of darkness, Erebus, the one who entered my body and tried manipulating me to bring them to life, but... they failed miserably.
They expected me to be some clueless little boy, and tried to tamper, and mess with my head, believing I was naive, and ignorant like any other 9 year old child.
Despite being the spirit who created the literal ideal of evil, they lacked knowledge.
It's a word I'm trying to think of, but I forgot what it's called—
AH! That's it! It's called omniscient.
Despite being someone so important, they lacked omniscient to realize that I was reincarnated from a man, to a child.
I had plenty of experience in life, and wisdom. I learned how to cast magic at the age of 3, and I learned more about this world than my previous world, since it intrigues me more.
The life I'm living now feels like some fantasy novel you would read on scribbhlehub, or Wattspad.
It's a pain in the ass, confusing, and also dark.
But despite all those negative traits about my life, I have incredible friends, and a kind mother who shows care for me, unlike my previous mother, who was depressed and hateful towards everyone.
I love my friends enough to protect them at all costs, even with the cost of my own life; you may be asking: "Who wouldn't do something like that? They're your friends!" And I understand. I would be asking the same thing if I heard someone say that. But I lived a different life, and my point of view is drastically dissimilar to everyone else's.
I grew up in poverty, I had no friends, my mom despised me, and my father passed away. Tamaki-San, the Sushi chef was just an acquaintance.
I was living alone, even with my job as a novelist in my previous life; I didn't know what it felt like to have friends, and for people to care about you.
But now, I feel that care. The care I always wanted ever since I was a little boy, right here, and right now.
I was sitting in the middle of a Barn with Olivia, and Twirl, and also the other villagers from Mediocre village.
They were all safe, and no one was hurt.
My arm was being taken care of by a couple of doctors we had in the village. They were skilled. So skilled in fact, that the nobles from Atlantis city even visits their nursery homes to be treated with their wounds and injuries. Sure it makes some of us commoners irritated to see nobles freely walk into our village with no respect, but it also makes us take pride in the incredible healthcare we have in Mediocre village.
They were using some type of healing spells, which was a subcategory of wind magic.
If you were wondering about subcategories, well they're easy to explain; starting with the basics, there's elements of magic, ice, water, fire, wind, and earth. Each elements of these magic all have their own subcategory, for example:
[ICE]
Subcategory
- Absolute Zero
- Cold Manipulation
[FIRE]
Subcategory
- Heat manipulation
- Smoke Manipulation
- Lava manipulation
[EARTH]
Subcategory
- Mineral Manipulation
- Nature Manipulation
[WATER]
Subcategory
- Bubble manipulation
- Storm manipulation
[WIND]
Subcategory
- Sound Manipulation
- Shockwave manipulation
- Healing
You get it now? Not only can you just spam ice attacks and water attacks, but you can also use their subcategories to be more versatile. For water you can create bubbles to trap your enemy inside, for wind you can create shockwaves and high frequency sounds to make your opponent deaf, etc.
But it is also very difficult to use a subcategory for a magic element you weren't born with.
I was born with ice magic, naturally, and if I tried using subcategories for ice magic, I could pull it off in no time. But for other magic, it would take years of training, or I would just need to do Warlock training to master all magic types.
The doctors who were healing me were born with wind magic, naturally, so I could rely on them and their healing spells.
Oh, and one more thing to mention; the magic type you're born with is decided by the first magic type you use.
My arm was bulging, and bubbles were even shown in certain parts of it. Pulsing, black bubbles. It creeped me out, but it must been the side effects from using Vargamoon.
I had so much power in my hand, and I felt unstoppable, but that power left me with a crippled arm.
["Owww!!!"] I shouted in pain, feeling one of the bubbles pop open.
Black pus leaked down my arm, freaking out the doctors, and everyone else who was watching the procedure.
["Geez man, you really have to tell us what happened back there! Did the goblins do that to you with some type of poison?"] Twirl was sitting in a bundle of hay, staring at me while children were patting his head, playing with him.
["Y-Yeah... I guess you can say goblins were the ones who done this. I was sneak attacked."] I responded.
["Those darn goblins, if I was there I would've slayed every single one!"] Olivia crossed her arms as she sat on a barrel, frowning.
["Yeah... too bad they hit me once and left soon after, something must've scared them off."] I proclaimed in a lie.
Of course I wouldn't tell them what really happened, that would be too much to explain.
I also feel like it'll make people question me, and think of me differently from having a literal embodiment of evil inside of me.
But onto more important matters, I didn't see my mom anywhere.
Once I returned to the barn with Twirl and Olivia, everyone greeted me, and the doctors instantly took care of my crippled arm.
But my mom was nowhere to be seen, even Olivia's.
["I have a question... does anyone know where Emma Ironheart is? And Olivia's mom?"] Once I asked the question, someone in the back stood up, raising their hand.
["They went looking for you two! Both Emma Ironheart and Margret Field are out, together, after joining forces to search for their lost children."]
OH—
SHIT!
I should've expected this!
I mean, who wouldn't expect this? A mom who lost her child was a dangerous individual.
Once a mother loses their child, they go from prey, to predator, real quick.
I tilted my head down in a sigh, realizing the situation.
["When did they leave?"] I asked.
["They left early this morning, but we have no clue where."]
Things just couldn't get any worse! Now my mom is out searching for me when I'm back home, safe— well… kinda safe, and so is Olivia!
If what my auntie Matilda said about my mom is true, then I shouldn't have much to worry about.
Auntie Matilda always said my mom was an incredible fighter, and she also participated in the Great War of Daguro next to my father who passed away.
If she had such incredible feats, then I shouldn't worry too much about her safety.
If anything, my mom is probably stronger than me!
["I can't believe it, my mom is teaming up with Godfrey's mom…"]
Olivia looked down and had a slight blush appear.
("I wonder what'll happen if they become friends… will me and Godfrey be closer?") Olivia started turning red, her eyes widening. ("No no no! What am I saying? Why am I even worrying about that right now? Stop it Olivia, your heart is beating too fast!") She started shaking her head back and forth in denial.
["Yo… Olivia… are you okay?"] I asked her, noticing her face turning red.
Was she sick or something? It's rare to see her look like this, definitely with her prideful personality.
["O-Oh, I'm fine! There is nothing to worry about."] Olivia sat up straight and rubbed the back of her head, swinging her legs back and forth on the barrel.
["Looks like that's all we can do."] The doctors finally finished up on my arm as they removed their surgical masks, which was stained in black pus.
It was gross—
But wait, that's all they can do? My arm is still limp, and it felt numb.
Hell, the thing is still crippled!
["Thats all? B-But my arm… it's still numb, is that normal?"] I asked.
["Sorry champ, our magic isn't enough for this… disease you contracted."] The male doctor stood up and took off his gloves.
["Its a disease?"] I responded.
["Yeah… it's something I never seen before, even in my studies. This disease is otherworldly, and I can tell you that no goblin given this to you. You must've caught it from something, or rather someone."]
["Yes, even in my studies, I never seen such a disease that our healing spells cannot cure."] The female doctor removed her mask, and gloves as well, saying the same thing.
Was this a sign, showing that I'll be crippled for the rest of my life?
How can I cure this disease? Maybe Erebus knows something— then again, isn't she the one that given this to me?
SHIT!
I CANT LET THIS WEAR ME DOWN!
I have to figure something out.
