Chapter 11 - Deep In The Waters

Sapphire

Today was finally Saturday, the day I was going to visit my family in the ocean and also seek an audience from the Mer king of our clan. It was just few days to the full moon and I hoped that he was benevolent and kind enough to tolerate my presence.

I saw Tommy lounging on top of the cabinet lazily swinging his tail while staring at me with his side eye. I did my normal routine or climbing on top of the stool and picking his canned food from the counter.

During one of the week days, I forgot to feed Tommy. When I returned back home, he was so grumpy and upset that immediately he finished eating he slinked out of the apartment and stayed out for two good days.

I was worried since he went out and mingled with the cats of the nearby neighborhood but he never stayed out for two days. When he returned back, I crushed him to my chest tight with him yowling and meowing his displeasure but he had to suck it up.

He skipped from the cabinet top and landed on the countertop with ease licking his paw. He jumped down from the countertop and went straight to snack on his food.

After watching him for a little while, I picked up my handbag and left the apartment not without saying goodbye to Tommy.

I drove to the Lake Union, it was already 6:39pm and I needed to be careful since humans could still be around. I pulled off my clothes in my car and swiftly kept them in my handbag.

I also switched off my phone and jogged out to the surface of the Lake. I took in a deep breath of air as I stretched standing on my tip toes and dove deep into the water.

The water was refreshing and cool as I arched my back and allowed the transformation phasing to wash over me. I sighed with satisfaction as the pleasure pain travelled from the crown of my head to the the sole of my feet.

After I finished phasing, I swam fa into the lake and with the aim of searching for gems. On every visit, I always brought a new precious stone as a gift for Grandma Maggie.

Grandma Maggie was my maternal grandmother, she was a free spirited woman and always loves to smile. She was totally different from Grandma Maggie who was stuck-up, more composed and no fun.

Grandma Maggie's love for precious stone was too overwhelming to the extent she named me and my mother after them. My mother's name was Gem, you see and my name was Sapphire, see?

I swam for a very long time to the limit of Lake Union before I saw and rather felt the vibration of the Atlantic ocean. That was where the city of Atlantis was located and where I could find a very nice stone for Grandma.

The water was different as I swam from Lake Union to Atlantic ocean, the water was easier to breathe in. I saw different sea creatures and swam deeper to the floor of the ocean to search for precious stones.

I searched for some minutes before seeing the glint of a shiny object. I swam in excitement to where the glint was coming from, the yellow stone was embedded inside a series of seaweed.

I picked it up from the seaweed, I studied the stone. It was a very rare stone which I have not seen before. I held it tight and swam forward whipping my tail with force, I was getting tired and would be getting rest in Grandma's place.

I took the north path and swam a little before I saw the highlight of Atlantis. Atlantis was the ancient city of Poseidon the Greek god of water.

It was once ruled by him but he later bestowed the throne to the Tritius lineage.

To this day, this kingship was still held by them. The city was very colorful and filled with fishes of different varieties, merpeople swimming and going on with their lives. The buildings under the water were mind blowing and I wondered how the structures remain firm but I guess magic helped.

Grandma Maggie's house was not far from here, so I swam with the little burst of energy I had left. Minutes later I arrived at her place, knocking at the door. I can't wait to see the surprise on her face when she sees me.
