Chapter 12 - Warm Welcome From Grandma Maggie

Sapphire

The door opened to reveal Grandma Maggie's smiling face. She always smiled like she had no worries in her life. When she saw me her face brightened more, if that was even possible.

"Sapphire, darling." She said as she dragged me inside the house smothering into a very tight hug. Inside the house was dry like a normal house outside the water. I guess it the magic that prevented the water from entering inside.

I transformed back into a human with legs, the magic in the Atlantic helped a lot. During this transition, I didn't feel any pain just a little on my lower body. Grandma Maggie separated from the hug and was going to her bedroom quarters.

"Grandma where are you going?" I asked looking round the house I spent my late teens in.

"I am going to get you some clothes.* She continued her journey to the room as I flushed in little embarrassment. I can't believe I forgot that I was naked. This was one of the things I would like to forget in a blink, hugging your Grandma while you are naked.

She came back with some of my old clothes I wore in case I came here.

"Here, take it." She stretched out her hand and gave it to me. I know you are wondering how I am still wearing clothes that I wore in my teens, told you that I didn't increase on height but did add to my feminine attributes.

"So how I got you a present." I smiled at her waiting in anticipation for her response.

"Don't tell me you got me another stone?" She put her hand on her chest, I knew she loved it when I surprised with stones especially rare ones.

I brought out my hand from behind my back bringing out the bright yellow stone I picked from the seaweed. She gasped in awe and excitement.

"Oh my gosh Sapphire, it's so beautiful." She cooed. This little reactions she made anytime I brought her gifts were always worth the struggle for searching for this stones.

"You are welcome." She smiled at me moving to the side of the room.

"It's just to hang it here." There was a section of the wall in the living room when she kept all the stone I had given her over the years. She placed a tag on it and hung it among the others. Her huge collection showcased her deep love and devotion for precious gems. Also her naming my mom and me after stones were another sign. She found it hilarious that my first name was Sapphire and my last name was Stone.

"So where's mom?" I asked genuinely curious, I thought I would see her here since they both lived together. Though mom had a separate house on land.

"I don't know, must be with her latest flavour of the month." She arranged the stones as if they haven't been arranged yet enough. My mom Ruby was a very big flirt, she went through men like the babies changed diapers.

After the horrendous separation between my parents, mom spiralled in a well of depression. Anna's death also contributed to it, but after a year of gluing broken pieces of her together she turned to her present self. I knew she disapproved of mom's decision and choice not to settle down anymore. I knew that it was painful for her, since I was the only grandchild she had and my mom was her her only child.

"So would tell me the main reason you came to visit?" She arched her brows at me, Grandma Maggie knew me so well.

"Well where do I start from?" I asked her as she led me to the couch.

"You know I always have time for long stories, let me get you some cookies and hot cocoa." Ah, how I missed Grandma Maggie.
