Chapter 9 - A Little Hint Of Excitement

Sapphire

Two weeks later

I didn't want to remember what happened the previous day when Grandma Anastasia annoyed me. I never should have followed Delilah home but I had to do it in return for her to help Amy Jones.

I was already through with Amy Jones case, her husband was sentenced to a five-year term with a restraining order placed against him when he got out from prison. We knew that Frederick was one of those that would retaliate once he got his opportunity.

Also the court helped Amy get her assets and her company back from him. That was enough for Amy to keep herself and her son on their feet. And the highlight of the week was that Buck took everyone in our department out for drinks.

I knew that Buck felt indebted to me since I saved his little cousin from the claws of Frederick Jones. But he seemed to respect me better though we still bicker but on a friendly manner.

I was in the kitchen of our department brewing my coffee when my phone rang. I checked my phone to see in unknown number 206-508-6990. I recognized the number even though it wasn't saved in my contact.

"Agent Stone?" The light airy voice spoke through the phone. It was Helen Chow, my supervisor at The Paranormal Bureau Investigation Of Supernatural Crimes. I'd know that voice anywhere, I didn't save her contact on my phone for security reasons.

"Yes Ma'am?" I answered alert, it must be an emergency for her to use this number. The Paranormal Bureau Investigation Of Supernatural Crimes had different numbers for reaching their agents.

"We have emergency 101 case. I'll send the details to you." We had to be extremely careful to send classified information because our organization had enemies especially The Red Revolt.

The Red Revolt was a group that recruited young homeless supernaturals especially orphans, trained and turned them to deadly assassins. They were the opposing force against The Paranormal Bureau Investigation Of Supernatural Crime organization.

"Okay Ma'am." The phone clicked signifying the end of the call, always so curt and formal my supervisor. The coffee had finished brewing by the time I had finished the call and I transferred to a coffee mug.

I rushed down to the office which I shared with eight other detectives. I sat on my chair and removed my laptop from sleeping mode. I connected my iPhone to my laptop with a USB cord waiting for the email.

I was security conscious and didn't use the desktop I used for only detective work to log in to my Guardian's or email account. My phone chimed with a new notification, the email loaded and appeared on the laptop's monitor.

I clicked on the email icon and logged into my account. I saw the new message on my inbox and clicked on the link leading to my Guardian's account. The Guardian account was a website for agents of The Paranormal Bureau Investigation Of Supernatural Crimes.

The message was encrypted in Morse code and it wasn't up to five minutes before I decoded it. It read,

"There's been a murder at the Lake Union waters. The body has been moved to the lab."

After reading it, I deleted it from my Guardian's inbox and deleted the page and returned to the email page deleting the link and the message from the inbox too. I also cleared the whole browsing history and cache, also factory reset my laptop. to be extra careful. I backed up my files and data on cloud and drive.

Now to check the Lake Union and head to the lab of the Paranormal Bureau Investigation Of Supernatural Crimes. Finally, some mystery and excitement.
