Chapter 38 - First Day...

Feb 2023...

Savannah woke up to sound of her alarm. Her eyes still sleepy and dazy, she sat up and stretched a bit before looking at the time. '5:30. I still have a lot of time'. Savannah thought to herself before getting up and making her way to the bathroom.

It didn't take long for her to come out of the bathroom. Her uniform was already folded neatly in her cupboard so she just brought it out and slipped it on.

If only she had a standing mirror, then she'd be able to see how she looked in the uniform. The uniform was mainly just a white shirt with a red ribbon for girls and tie for boys with a red and white checkered skirt for girls and plain red for boys, a red argyle patterned sweater vest and maroon blazers.

Savannah wore the uniform without the sweater vest and blazer and used her mom's mirror to see how she looked.

She put the mirror by the windowsill and stood a few feet apart from it to see her full figure.

The skirt was a little bit above her knee and the sweater vest was a bit thicker than Savannah expected but it still looked amazing and she loved it. She twirled around a little before finally returning her mom's mirror back in her purse.

Her mom wasn't around when she woke up so she must have woken up before her and gone to the kitchen to prepare their breakfast.

She quickly took a rubber band and used it to pack her hair before taking her blazer from the wardrobe. She took one last look at herself in the mirror before rushing out of the room.

She took a peek at the kitchen but didn't see anyone there. She walked to the livingroom and surprisingly, both Adam and Amanda were seated, and eating their breakfast. She didn't expect to see her brother there, and no one informes her of that breakfast had already been served.

She slowly approached them when Adam acknowledged her prescence, "oh hey there! Seems you woke up late today. Not to brag but, I woke up like an hour before you". Adam said as Savannah sat down next to him.

" Don't mind him Savannah. He woke up a lot later than you". Amanda said as she slipped her tea.

Savannah smirked at Adam before taking her bowl of cereal.

The three of them ate their food for a while before Amanda glanced at her watch, "Okay, you two should finish eating while I go and get ready", Amanda said as she stood up from where she sat and walked out of the living room.

Savannah dropped her bowl of cereal before picking up her phone. She was scrolling through her chats with Debbie when Adam snatched her phone from her.

"Hey give that back!" Savannah said as she turned to look at Adam.

"Let me see what you and that friend of yours have been talking about". Adam said as he scrolled through her chats. Savannah didn't say anything but instead tried to grab her phone from his hand.

" Hey. Calm down. It's not like you're hiding anything". Adam said as he tried to push her away.

"Stop it! Give me back my phone!" Savannah said as she abtupty stood up.

Daniel also got up before saying, "I saw this new girl today",Adam started, mimicking Savannah's voice as he took a quick glance at Savannah before continuing, "she looked nice, who knows, maybe we'll be in the same class. Hey, why don't you tell me all these things". Adam said as he looked at Savannah.

"Okay, that's enough, give me back my phone". Savannah said as she tried to grab the phone from Adam.

"What's all that noise". Amanda said as she walked into the living room while putting on her heels. " Adam, give her back her phone and Savannah, clear up the dishes. We're leaving soon". Amanda said as Adam and Savannah quite fighting and went their separate ways.

By this time, it was already about 15 minutes to 7. Their house was a bit far from the school so Amanda didn't want them to be late on their first day.

After a while of arranging a few things, the three of them made their way to the car.

Savannah had already packed her bag the night before. Amanda had already bought their stationaries and some jotter books to last them the first few weeks.

As soon as they got into the car, it didn't take up to a minute before Amanda started the car and they were on the road.

It wasn't really that necessary for Amanda to be in such a hurry, she just didn't want to delay the kids and most importantly, come lat to work. Since she began working at the café, she hasn't been late to work. Not even once! So she didn't want this little mistake to soon become a big deal.

Just like the last time they went there, Savannah kept her eyes glued to the window. This was the first time she'd ever be known as a new student. Adrenaline rushed through her veins. Thoughts flooded her mind as her heart beat accelerated.

In her old school, she could come anytime she wanted and meet Debbie. But this time she'd be alone. She also heard that the school is really strict and that's one of the reasons why they are so popular and well-known. She couldn't help but miss Debbie. She's the only person she needed right now. How would she introduce herself to all her classmates without stuttering? What if they bully her? She won't have anybody to be by her side at this time. Her brother couldn't help her either. They don't allow juniors and seniors to associate much.

Savannah looked out the window, staring at all the pedestrians that passed by. She'd have to get used to all the changes, this would be her life now.

The car suddenly came to a halt. Her focus was drifted and she looked out the window to see the building.

Just like before, the school was big. Students walked in, some with parents, some alone.

She got out of the car and swung her bag over her shoulder. She looked at school as more students walked in. This place would be where I'd study from now on. This first day would definitely be one to remember. Savannah thought to herself before Amanda waved at them and left.

The place suddenly felt a bit cold. Maybe it was the wind? Savannah didn't know, but, she had this strange feeling this school is different from what she imagined.

She felt a hand wrap her shoulder and it made her turn abruptly. "Come on. Let's go in". Adam said before he released his arm and began walking into the building. After a deep breath, Savannah finally started walking into the building.

The flight of stairs made Savannah more and more anxious. Not just because it was huge, but also because she couldn't calm her racing heart.

She finally made it to the grand entrance. She walked in through the doors and slowly made her way through the hallway.

No one seemed to notice her walk in, maybe because she was accompanied by a group of other students. The hallway was a lot more crowded than the last time she came.

She looked around for Adam and suddenly felt lost. She barely knew anyone here. She stood still at the center of the hallway when suddenly someone put their arm around her shoulder. She knew it wasn't Adam this timeso she felt a bit alarmed. She quickly turned around to see who it was and was face to face with the girl she met the other day.

"You!" The two of them said in unison as they both stared at each other.

"You're the girl that bumped into me a few days ago, wait, you go to this school?" The girl said as she looked at Savannah, quite confused.

"No, actually, I just started attending this school, this is my first day".

"Ohh, then, hi, I'm Christine". Christine said as she extended her hand at Savannah, smiling widely.

"I'm Savannah. Nice to meet you". Savannah said as she shook Christine's hand.

" This is your first day and you won't want to be late". Christine said as she was making her way when Savannah stopped her.

"No actually I wanted to ask, where's the Admins office?"

"You go straight, it's the first door to your left". Christine said as she waved at Savannah before walking away.

Savannah suddenly felt a wave of relief before rushing to the admins office. The admin gave her her schedule for the week. She went to the locker she was assigned to and kept most of her things there before making her way to class...
