October 2010...
Savannah sat on the dusty wooden floor with her head fallen back, lost in her own world. Her mother had left her a while back to be on her own for a while.
Savannah lay her head on the bed as she stared up at the ceiling. Wondering what had gone wrong. How did her life end up like this? She could still vividly remember the time when the three of them celebrated every occasion like it was their last. And now, she has the money and the time but not the people. She couldn't help asking why, why did she have to experience this.
For a while she felt like she was living the best life. She had the perfect boyfriend, she was financially stable, had the best and most supportive friends. That was until, the day her brother had to leave her. She felt like cursing her fate. She felt like asking God why he had to take her brother from her. But then. She realised that all this was just apart of destiny. Like the day her father died, her mother felt broken but moved on and became a successful entrepreneur. And just like her mother, she's going to move on and make her mum proud.
Savannah looked down at her hands. She was still holding the figurines. She slowly got up from where she sat and placed the figurines carefully on the bedside table. Though one was broken, they still looked perfect when standing next to eachother.
Savannah was on her way to her bedroom when she remembered that she had to get to Katherine's place early. She quickly rushed to her room and took her phone from the bedside table. It was already 12:45. She placed her phone on her bed before making her way to the bathroom. She looked at herself in the mirror and gasped. She was a mess, her eyes were a bit puffy and her hair was scattered with strands pointing all over the place. She quickly splashed water on her face before using her hair brush to smoothen down her hair.
She dried her face with a towel before heading out of the bathroom and making her way to her bed. She picked up her phone and purse and rushed out of her room.
Being time conscious, she quickly made her way down the stairs and slipped on her sneakers. Her mother noticed this and asked her where she was rushing to.
"I have to meet Katherine and I'm already late. I'll explain everything later". Savannah said as she hugged her mom and made her way out of the house.
She continuously checked the time on her watch as she made her way to her car. She got into the car and started it.
On her way to Katherine's house', she couldn't help but wonder more about Katherine. She couldn't help but think how her house would look like, if she loved with her parents, stuff like that.
The way to Katherine's house' wasn't that far from hers, so in no time, she managed to reach her house.
As soon as she arrived at Katherine's house, she couldn't help but stare. She parked the car somewhat by the entrance and got out of the car.
She stood by her car and stared at the house for what seemed like forever. For some reason, she didn't expect Katherine's house to look so... beautiful.
The house was a duplex with a beautiful big gate that was painted gold. Just by looking at how modern and designed her house was, she couldn't wait to see the inside. This made her wonder more about Katherine.
After waiting by the door for a while, Savannah decided to text Katherine about her arrival.
'Hey Katherine, I'm at your house. And sorry for coming late'. Savannah sent the text and put her arm on the roof of her car as she waited.
It didn't take long for Savannah to hear a few clicks on the gate and for Katherine to open the gate. Savannah turned to look at Katherine who was just about opening the gate. She quickly got up and approached Katherine at the gate.
"Come in". Katherine said with a warm smile.
Feeling welcomed, Savannah smiled back as she walked in. The front yard was another site to behold. It was a big open space at the center with a little garden by the left side of the front yard. The garden had a big tree at the center with flowers by the edges.
Savannah couldn't help but stare as she made her way to the front door.
As the two of them walked through the front door and into the house. Savannah was more shocked to see how inside the house looked like. When you walk in, you'll see the living room with a big flat screen TV Infront of it. Savannah was a bit curious but chose to keep it to herself.
"Sorry for the sudden change in plans", Katherine started as she stopped by one of the couches, "actually, I couldn't organize our session in our usual place because of some construction work being done, so that's why we had to have it here". Katherine said as she walked further past the dinning room and to a stairway.
"Is this place your house". Savannah suddenly asked as they were about making their way up the staircase. The sudden question made Katherine chuckle a bit as she turned to look at Savannah.
"Yeah it is. I just hope the construction would be done before our next session so we won't have to meet here". Katherine said before she started walking up the stairs. Savannah was still a bit confused as to why Katherine would be so against having their sessions at her house.
The two of them reached the end of the stairs and arrived at a little hallway with just about 4 doors. Katherine walked further until she arrived at the last door of the hallway. Katherine pushed opened the door and it turned out to be a room, probably her room.
It was fully decorated and had barely any bright colours. Just beige, grey, white and cream. Somehow, Savannah was starting to wonder why Katherine would bring her to her room of all places.
"You can sit on the bed if you want, just, make yourself at home". Katherine said as Savannah awkwardly walked to her bed and sat on it as Katherine cleared a few things on her work desk.
After some time, Katherine also approached her bed and sat on it. "I have somewhere to be by 2 pm, so I'll try to make this quick", Katherine said as she quickly got her notebook from one of her bedside drawers and came back to where she sat, "Nathan told me about your brother and how he died", Katherine said as Savannah abruptly turned to her, "look, I know how upsetting that must be but I just need some answers". Savannah felt uncomfortable talking about this topic. She didn't want to keep reminding herself of her brother's death over and over again. She wanted to move on.
"So. Let's start shall we? Did it ever seem as though Adam wasn't telling you about something, like maybe keeping a secret?" Katherine said.
Savannah thought through a long line back. She thought back to any memory of Adam acting strangely but couldn't find any. She knew there was a point in time when she suspected Adam and Nathan were hiding something from her but just couldn't remember what it was about. It felt like a hazy memory.
"Well... I remember once when Adam refused to tell me about what he and Nathan always spoke about. But I'm not sure when it happened". Savannah said after a moment of silence. For a while Katherine was also quite. She knew that what Savannah was saying had a striking resemblance to what Nathan said. All this could only mean that Adam knew something was wrong with Savannah but didn't know what it was exactly. All this could also mean that what Nathan was saying about Savannah might be true. Maybe she was the one that killed Patricia...
