Chereads / The Greatest Villain Ever / Chapter 4 - Persephone

Chapter 4 - Persephone

"Never would I have thought that Hades himself would be accompanying me on my journey." Jude gave out a chuckle as he said that.

"Well, some things in life happen unannounced. And some things in life have to be done as quickly as possible." Hades looked a bit alarmed all of a sudden as he said that.

"What happened? Why do you look like you are in a hurry or something? I mean, we don't have to rush it now, do we?" Jude shrugged as he said that.

"Umm, I feel like the faster we leave, the better. I mean, we are talking about subduing a villain here. It should be done quick, right?" Hades asked.

"Well, probably. But that doesn't explain why you are in such a hurry, you know? I feel like there's something wrong with the whole thing," Jude mumbled.

"What are you even talking about? Why would there be something wrong, huh?" Hades gave out a loud, audible laugh as he said that.

"Nah, it's nothing," Jude mumbled. He could feel it in his soul, but he just didn't know what was wrong. And since that was the case, he simply decided to go with the flow for now.

"Why are you trying to leave this place on your own, my dear?" It was quick, but in a second's fraction someone stood behind Hades with a menacing look on their face.

"Honeypie, I wasn't trying to—well, I guess I was, but there is a good reason behind it, you know? You gotta trust me on that!" Hades cried.

"And that is?" The woman asked.

Hades sighed, before he explained the entire situation to the woman. "So, there is that. Now, are you gonna let me leave?" He asked.

"You do know that this is one stupid plan, right?" The woman asked.

"What do you mean? It's the Gods that green flagged the plan." Hades shrugged as he said that.

"Just because it's the legion that green flagged it, doesn't mean that it isn't any less stupid. I mean, you guys planning to send this villain-" Before the woman could complete her sentence, she was interrupted.

"Jude. You can call me Jude. Even though hearing Gods call me a villain sounds really cool, it kinda makes me a bit uncomfortable when it feels like I'm being treated like an object to be honest." He mumbled.

"Well, hey Jude! I'm Persephone." She smiled.

"Yea, I guessed that much." Jude smiled back at that point.

"So..." Persephone turned her attention back towards Hades. "How are you planning to do this, huh? I mean, sure, you can probably keep in check on him by latching onto him, but what's gonna happen after he successfully ends up subduing the other villains? Are you just gonna let him be over there? I mean, it's not like we can drag him back here, since sending him back into the outer world would mean that his soul gets a body back to reside inside. And it's not like we can drag a living being here," Persephone spoke.

"I mean, why not? Hercules did it, so..." Hades mumbled.

"Well, he came here on his own volition. We are talking about dragging a living being onto here, which isn't actually possible," Persephone replied.

"What are you suggesting that I should do then, huh?" Hades asked.

At that point, Persephone went on a deep thought of sorts. After all, she didn't expect Hades to hit her back with a question. "I mean, I don't know. You could set up a contract, maybe? Something that would bind you to his soul and let you drag it back here once the task is done." She suggested.

"I mean, everyone, including myself, raves about how beautiful you are, but I feel like your smarts should be credited as well, you know?" Hades had a coy smile on his face as he said that.

"Well, you are too sweet, honey." Persephone landed a kiss on Hades' face as she said that.

"You guys got any insulin here? I mean, I can't handle this sort of sweetness." Jude muttered at that point.

"Uhmm, anyhow, let's get on with the contract then, shall we?" Hades spoke, not giving regard to what Jude just said. "I, Hades-" Before he could even begin setting up the contract, he was interrupted.

"And I Persephone!" Persephone seemed really enthusiastic as she shouted it out.

"Babe, what are you doing?" Hades asked.

"Yea, you leaving here without me? That's not gonna happen. No way!" Persephone seemed adamant at that point.

"Okay, honey... Look here. I won't cheat on you with a fair maiden on Earth, you know? You don't have to worry about that." Hades cupped Persephone's face in his palm as he said that.

"I really don't have to be worried about that, since I know for a fact that they are gonna get frightened the moment they lay eyes on you." She mumbled.

"Bruh, that's harsh, you know?" Hades looked genuinely hurt as he said that.

"Humm, I guess maybe there exists an idiot like me on Earth who will actually fall for you. But I'm aware that my lovable hubby won't be falling back for them and all." She spoke.

"Then why aren't you letting me leave then?" He asked.

"Well, I don't wanna be left alone here, you know? I wanna be there with you. I still got a huge crush on you, you know?" She mumbled.

"But you are my wife!" Hades chuckled.

"So? Can't I have a crush on my hubby? Is it wrong for me to feel like I have bagged the most handsome man that I know of?" She asked.

"Not really." Hades blushed as he said that.

"Then is it wrong of me to want to spend quality time with my husband, that I crush hard on?" She asked.

"No, but it's not gonna be a fun trip, you know?" He shrugged at that point.

"Doesn't matter. It will always be fun when I'm with you." Persephone smiled.

Jude, who was listening to all of this from the sidelines, sighed. He knew that it was going to be a really tiring journey for him.
