Chapter 6 - Struggle

Slowly, but steadily, Jude opened his eyes. The light was bright. It was at that point that he realized that the underworld was rather dark. Anyhow, there were a lot of things that he couldn't do at that point, like moving his own body, but he decided to take it one step at a time and wait for his eyes to get accustomed to the natural light.

"So, how are you feeling now?" He could hear Hades asking him that question.

"Well, waiting... Hopefully, I get to see you in due time." Jude tried shrugging as he said that, but even speaking seemed difficult, so he didn't even try doing that.

"You will... You will..." Hades mumbled.

And hours passed since Hades said those words. Yet, Jude's eyes never got accustomed to the light.

"So, you wanna tell me what's going on then?" Jude turned towards the place where he heard Hades' mumbles before and asked.

However, he got no reply from him. Then he decided to call for Persephone, but it was the same in her case as well. It seemed as if they had ditched him. And even though he acted like he couldn't care less about it, he really felt quite hurt by it. The only two people he could possibly talk to at that point decided to leave him like that. It made him wonder if that was supposed to be his punishment and all. After all, what's worse than not being able to move or see or talk to someone? All he could do at this point was to patiently wait until he rots away or something.

"What the hell? Why aren't you up yet?" All of a sudden, Jude heard Hades' voice out of nowhere. And at that very moment, all the dark thoughts that he had vanished like thin air and he was lit up once again. He knew that this was going to be bad for his mind, but he decided to wing it.

"Well, how am I supposed to do all of that when I can't even see things clearly?" Jude asked.

"My goodness, you still haven't recovered your vision? What are we supposed to do now?" Hades sounded really frustrated as he said that.

"I mean, if we are to wait for a little more time, the sun is gonna go down, then I believe it's probably gonna be easy for your eyes to get accustomed to it." It was Persephone who spoke up this time around.

"Is that so? I guess I'll wait then." Jude mumbled. "By the way, where were you guys?" He decided to pop out the question straight up.

"Hmm?"

"I asked where you guys were..." Jude spoke.

"Well, we were here—" Hades paused before he could say something else, and then silence ensued for the next minute or so. "I'm gonna be honest here. We went out to see the scenery and all. I'm aware that we weren't supposed to do all that when you were having a hard time here, but it's all my fault to be honest." He muttered.

"What in the world are you talking about? Why are you taking all the blame? I was the one who asked you to take me out and forced you into it. I was the one who lied about not meddling with your business here and all! Then why are you taking the blame?" Persephone sounded really frustrated as she asked her husband.

"Babe, it's not like that..." Hades sounded like he was about to go for a long talk, but there was someone else who was more frustrated than both of them.

"Okay, I get it! You don't have to go back and forth about it. That's legit going to annoy me more than anything." Jude glared at both of them as he essentially shouted at that point.

"Wait a minute! You can see us now, huh?" Hades asked.

"Oh, yea. I guess I can do that as well." Jude nodded his head as he spoke.

"Great. I guess the sun setting thing was right. Now, try getting up slowly. It's gonna be hard, but yea... You ought to try it, you know?" Hades shrugged as he spoke.

"Fine." Jude replied, as he tried getting up. However, it was to no avail.

After a solid thirty minutes of trying, Jude decided to give up for the day. "I don't think I can do it today, you know? What kind of body is this, bruv?" He sighed at that point.

"Well..." Hades and Persephone stared at him for a few good minutes.

"Why in the world are you guys looking at me like that?" Jude was annoyed at that point.

"Nah, it's nothing. It's just that this body resonated with your soul way too well. So, yea." Hades shrugged as he spoke.

"Ha, whatever. I just hope that I won't have to wait for a week or something to actually start walking, you know?" Jude replied.

"I mean, that could indeed be a possibility if I'm being honest," Hades mumbled.

Jude preferred not to give a reply at that point because he knew that he would implode if he did. Instead, he decided to close his eyes and sleep instead. After all, he had been straining his eyes for quite some time at that point.

A few hours passed and it seemed like Jude couldn't sleep even after trying his best to. And he knew the reason behind it quite well. He used to move around while he slept when he was alive on Earth and now that he's not able to do that, he's feeling really uncomfortable. However, unlike him, the people that accompanied him on this journey were sleeping soundly. And this really annoyed him at that point. He really wanted to mess up their sleep. There was nothing else that he wanted to do at that moment. Maybe it was because his desire to do this was so intense, that his hand actually started twitching.
