Chapter 7 - Corpse

"Guys, look at this!" Jude was elated as he tried showing off his hand twitch, but the couple were so deep in their sleep that they weren't able to hear Jude's feeble voice. And this meant that Jude was left to himself at that point. Was he sad? Yea. But it wasn't like he could do something about it. So, he decided to do the one thing that he could do at that point, and that was continuing to twitch his hand until he could actually make a solid movement with it.

It seemed like there was just a starting trouble for the movement because from that point onwards, it was rather easy. It took him under twenty minutes to make a successful movement with his hands. And since that was a grand success, he decided to test his luck even further and tried moving his entire body instead.

Even though it took him way more time than it took for him to move his hand alone, he actually succeeded in doing it. Which meant that he was successful in taking five steps from where his body was previously on, to the wall of the supposed cave that they were in. It was just a few steps, but for him, it meant more; much more. After all, from not being able to move at all to being able to move a few steps was a massive success in his books. He thought of waking the couple up by walking towards them and all, but then decided against it and decided to wait for them instead.

Hades and Persephone were confused and surprised when they woke up. They were pretty sure that someone entered the cave they were on. And what made them think that way? Well, it was Jude. He was lying down last night and this time around, he was sleeping with his back against the cave wall. It was almost as if someone came in to raid the cave; found nothing; thought that they might've hid something valuable beneath Jude; moved him aside; found nothing over there as well, and left rather disappointed.

"We are at fault, you know? We should've tried our best to raise the security of this place." Persephone mumbled.

"I guess so. But then again, this was totally unexpected, you know? Like, who would even think of raiding a random old cave?" Hades asked.

"I don't know! Treasure hunters, probably?" Persephone shrugged as she replied.

"Yea, that's a valid one, now that I think about it." Hades had no choice but to agree to it at that point.

"Indeed. And we should've done something about it. I mean, think about what the other Gods might be thinking if they were to hear about this and all." Persephone sighed as she said that.

"Yea, they're gonna roast us the next time we go for the summit." Hades mumbled.

"Umm, what's going on?" Jude looked towards the both of them and asked.

"Ah, nothing. Does something feel different now?" Hades asked back.

"What do you mean?" Jude acted confused at that point.

"I mean, don't you think it is a little weird that you are essentially sitting by the wall now?" Hades asked.

"... What in the—how did this even happen?" Jude looked surprised as he asked that.

"That's something we would like to know as well." Persephone mumbled at that point.

"Ha, let me just fix something then. My legs are killing me." Jude muttered as he started slowly stretching his legs.

"Ah, sure." Hades nodded his head and continued racking his brain about possible security measures.

However, there was someone who noticed the weird thing happening right in front of their eyes. "Holy! You can walk now?" Persephone was genuinely surprised as she asked that question.

"Babe, what are you even talking about-" Hades couldn't even complete his sentence because he was surprised by Jude, who was standing across him.

"Surprise!" Jude chuckled at that point.

"You were planning for this the whole time, weren't you?" Persephone asked.

"Hell yea! I mean, I was faking my sleep the entire time. Although it's weird that I didn't feel sleepy at all, which made the prank simple for me, but it is still a weird occurrence if you were to ask me." Jude shrugged as he said that.

"That's indeed weird. Maybe it's because we shifted your soul into a dead body or something." Hades replied.

"I see. By the way, I can't seem to smell stuff, you know? And it's really hard for me like this, to be honest. So, how long do I have to wait for me to recover my sense of smell?" Jude asked.

"Hmm, I feel like it's gonna be really hard for you to recover your sense of smell." Hades mumbled.

"Near impossible." Persephone sighed as she said that.

"Why are you guys saying it like that?" Jude asked, as he turned towards the both of them in turns.

"Well..." This time around, it was Hades sighing.

"If you got something to say, just say it out loud, you know?" Jude was quite annoyed at that point.

"I mean, it would be better to show you rather than telling you." Hades spoke as he conjured a mirror out of nowhere and shoved it to Jude's face.

"What in the world!" Jude was shocked to see his face at that point. His face was in the danger of decaying, it seemed. It looked disgusting, and he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"Yea, things sort of happened this way." Hades shrugged as he spoke.

"Wait a minute! Didn't you guys tell me that you were going to put me in a decent corpse? What the hell is this?" Jude asked.

"As I said, it sorta happened this way! I'm not the one who assigned this body to you, you know? So, don't go around blaming me for this!" Hades argued.

"Of course, I'm gonna blame you for it! I mean, how can't I? Also, what the hell is this screen in front of me?" Jude asked, much to the surprise of the other two.
