Chapter 52 - Brown-robed Mage

In the morning, Kai was awoken by a strange tingly feeling from his index finger. Looking down, it turned out to be his Bluestone Sect ring, which was now slightly glowing.

Immediately, he recalled that this signal meant that the hall he had signed up for was calling for him. After yesterday's exploration, Kai knew where most of the locations were even if he were ignoring the system's map which it had created as Kai walked around the sect.

Kai had signed up to be a battle-mage, so he had to report to the Battle Mage Guild, which coincidentally Aron's Battle Mage hall was also a part of. Getting out of bed, Kai quickly worse the clothes he had worn the day before since he had not been sent here with any extra clothes. Apparently, they would be confiscated upon entering, so it did not matter if he brought them in either ways.

Putting on the grey robe, Kai left the temporary dormitory and soon found a steady stream of grey-robed disciples heading in the same direction as him.

Kai did not say much and followed behind them silently, and soon they all arrived at what looked like an enormous colosseum; divided into sections. Kai noticed all the grey robed youths like himself moving towards a particular direction, while those wearing other coloured robes like blue, dark orange, white, black and various other colours wear heading in a different direction.

Kai soon found his seat among many other grey-robes individuals, and a few minutes later once people stopped flooding into the seats, a mage in brown robes with a golden pattern embossed on the sleeves, the bottom end, and the hood.

Under the hood was an aged face reminding Kai of the old butler back at the Dread Castle.

'I will definitely get my revenge; Tulia." Kai mused to himself as an intense anger swelled up inside his heard.

"Members of the Battle Mage Guild, I am pleased to inform you that 200 new members have joined us from this year's selections! A round of applause for the newcomers." The aged man spoke softly, yet his voice seemed to spread all over the colosseum, as all those who had already been at the Battle Mage Guild began clapping their hands.

"Alright, Alright. That is enough applause, we have serious matters at hand. Firstly, the inter Guild competition is going to arrive in 5 years. I know, it is not long, however this is beneficial for our battle guild. The other non-combat guild need to scramble to produce something useful in just 5 years, however we already have outstanding disciples. The only thing we need to do is to maintain our combat prowess. Therefore, I will be deploying all those at or above a Rank 1 mage. Instructor Kaz will give you your orders."

"As for the rest of you, work hard to reach Rank 1, only then will you be useful to the Battle Mage Guild. Now… coming back to the new members, you will be given a one-time pass for entering the Spell Hall. You will be allowed inside without any payment for 2 hours. You will also be provided a pen and paper to copy down whatever spell you wish to learn. What you do with this copy is up to you, however you cannot sell it to anyone outside the Bluestone Sect. And you will only have access to the Rank 0 and Rank 1 spells"

"Remember, this is a one-time opportunity. Normally, you will have to not only pay an entry fee of 100 mana crystals, but also a payment to view each spell book you want to copy. Plus, you only get to copy the book for 2 hours before it is taken away. As a new student, you will be given this opportunity only once. Go now, your time will start once you enter, and you will be removed once the time is up. Also, this deal is limit to today. If you for whatever reason fail to enter, you will not be able to enter again for free."

After completing his piece, the old man flew into the air and sped away. Immediately, everyone, including the coloured robed and grey robed magi stood up simultaneously. The Grey robes apprentice Magi scattered frantically, while the coloured robed Magi moved swiftly and orderly to the exits.

Kai also followed those around him, and along the way came across an equally confused grey robed disciple. He was rather fat, but seemed to come from a financially strong background due to his clothes under the grey robes, as well as his orderly combed silky hair and supple skin. If he was not this fat, he would have most likely made a rather dashing you man.

However, the two noticed each other at the same time and immediately came to an understanding. The moved closer while going along with the crowd towards the exit to prevent themselves from being crushed to death.

"I'm Kai," Kai introduced himself.

"Fred, Fred Warri" the fat disciple said as they shook hands while running for their lives.

"So… Fred, do you know who the Brown Robed Mage was?" Kai asked.
