A few weeks passed and Kai finally completed his calculations for the [Spacial Blade]. Compared to what the system had calculated, they were exactly the same, which both reassured him of his own calculations, as well as reassuring him about the accuracy of the system's calculations.
Now that he was done with these calculations, he left his dorm and headed towards the faculty section of the Battle Hall.
The Battle Hall worked in a very simple way. You joined it, completed missions and earned mana crystals for the missions. Using these mana crystals, you would gain access to everything in the Bluestone Sect, including mentoring from Rank 1 or higher Magi.
Of course, there was another way to get this mentoring; by showcasing your talent. If you were talented enough, some Official Mage would likely take you in as a personal disciple.
And this was exactly what Kai was hoping for.
"I'm here to ask for a mentor," Kai said to the receptionist of the faculty section.
"Are you a first years student?" The young man at the reception asked with slight confusion in his voice.
"Yeah"
"Have you finished your calculations for your first spell?"
"Yeah"
"Then head to Hall 5. There will be a Rank 1 Mage testing each of your Spiritual Energy. This is a free service provided only until you learn your first spell. After that, you will have to pay for it."
"…"
"Go on then!"
"Thank you!" Kai bowed to the receptionist before running away towards the Fifth Hall, cursing the Fat Fred Warri in his mind along the way, as he was the one who told Kai that there were only two ways to get your Spiritual Energy tested.
His initially good impression he had had of the fatty was slowly withering away, replaced by bubbling anger.
"The Sect should seriously make a system to better inform disciples about important events…" The receptionist sighed as he got back to his duties of sorting out meetings and compiling the daily schedules of each of the Rank 1 teachers.
…
Kai arrived at hall five and noticed that there was a rather large line at its entrance. Without saying anything, he lined up and waited a good hour until his turn finally came.
There was a middle-aged Mage sitting at a wooden desk, with his hand placed palm up on the table.
"Hand," the mage said, and Kai complied.
Immediately, Kai felt a strong force burst into his body, before he could even put up any defences, the force had rushed into the deepest parts of his mind.
"Hmm… Not bad. You have enough Spiritual Energy to learn a Rank 0 spell. Next!"
Immediately, Kai returned to his senses as the invasive force vanished. However, Kai did not leave as he had more important questions.
"How much Spiritual Energy would it take for two spells? And how much for more spells? Also, is there a system to scale Spiritual Energy for each spell you learn, on each rank? Also, is there a way for me to increase Spiritual Energy?"
"Sigh. So many questions. Go to the Bluestone Sect library. It is next to Spell Hall. All your questions will be answered. Don't bother me. Next!"
Before Kai could retort, he was pushed aside by an impatient Disciple behind him. Sighing, Kai left hall 5 and headed towards the library.
…
"10 Mana Crystals for a day inside," the guard of the library said. Although the price was significantly less compared to the Spell Hall, it was still too much for Kai to waste almost half of. Instead, Kai went for lunch and coincidentally met Fred.
After pinching Fred and removing all his anger in this method, he explained to Fred about the Free Spiritual Energy Testing for new students, as well as his intentions for heading towards the Library for some important information.
"I'll go for the free testing first. Catch you later."
"Cool."
Kai returned to his room and decided to finally start practicing the Santok meditation method at the same time as Yu. Before, whenever he or Yu would try to meditate normally, they would almost always fail to fall into a meditative state due to the activity of their counterparts.
However, after trying the Santok Meditation Method, Yu was not affected by this issue. Therefore, it only made sense that Kai was not affected by the issue. Furthermore, both of them doing it at the same time only meant that their efficiency would increase.
"What is the meaning of existence?"
"Why are we alive?"
"What does being alive mean…?"
Just like that, the next day arrived and Kai reached the library as soon as it opened for the day, paying for the 10 mana crystals and entering.
"Scan everything as quickly as possible," Kai said to the system, as he picked up one book at a time and flipped through the pages incredibly rapidly, finishing the book within just a minute, before moving on to the next one.
Although nobody was there for the first hour, some second and third-year students gradually filed into the library as time passed.
"What is he trying to do?" One of them whispered as they finally took notice of the oddity within the library; Kai flipping through books at lightning speed.
"No idea. But it seems as though he is trying to… read?"
"Read? Like that?"
The two disciples shrugged as they returned to their work, after all, they too had paid to enter the library, and Kai was not bothering anyone while he was flipping through pages as silently as possible.
…
By the end of the day, Kai had scanned almost the entire ground floor, but he had not gone to the first floor, since he needed to be a Rank 1 Mage to access that.
However, he already had everything he needed in regard to his problem; Should he learn the Space spell as the blood spell, or only the blood spell? After all, based on what Aaron and Fred told him, learning more than one spell was blocking off your progress for future ranks.
Therefore, he needed to conduct research among books from previous magi to find his path.
