Chapter 62 - Operation Badger

"Sir! We have come to the conclusion that the artificial intelligence used for each creature in the world is unique! And due to this fact, the children they create are also unique, and being in a world with a pre-defined set of rules; they too grow up to be different as compared to just a copy of their parents… Sir! This is a perfect pseudo-world!"

"Just tell me when I can begin exporting the AI from the world, and how it will affect the world. How many AI can I take without affecting the world, and how far I can bend the rules of the world."

"Just a moment…"

"Sir! Based on our findings, you should be able to take around 10 AI every few days in reality without affecting the world, any more and the AI of the world built up over time would fight back and remove our access to the world."

"…Why would such a thing be possible? Can't you just delete the world's AI?" Angus asked.

"We are sorry sir, but the world is based on the World's AI. Without it, the world would immediately crumble. Furthermore, we do not have access to the AI's source code, meaning even if we wanted to, we would not be able to delete it."

"…Go on."

"As for us bending the rules of the world, we will not be able to affect it too much. However, the original designer had developed a rule of his own within the world, a system which normally would not have existed in the world in the first place, but was intentionally grown into the world. It gives those who access the world from Earth the ability to Revive. However, with each death and revival, the person would lose some of their accumulated strength and powers within the world. Of course, this would not have any effects on the real world."

"However, The strength of our people in that world is vital, since they are the only way for us to take out the AI that you need. Therefore, it is suggested that we rapidly increase our strength within the world and establish a base of operations inside. Based on my investigation, this world has a power system, which allowed humans to grow into superhumans of varying levels"

"Sir!" this time, another team member barged into the meeting room between Angus and the team leader of the tech support called by Angus.

"What is it?" Angus turned his attention to the young man.

"There is a timer."

"What?"

"A timer. The scientists entering the Link Capsules will be forcefully logged out in 2 hours' time, and their avatars will be deleted. After that, we can enter, however, there will be another timer which will log us out in 2 days, and our characters will also be deleted. Only after that will we be able to permanently enter the world without restrictions."

"…"

"…"

Both Angus and the team leader were silent upon hearing this. Their hopes of immediately setting up a base in the new world were dashed completely. Agnus was the first to compose himself and hand out orders once more.

"Immediately quarantine the testers the moment they leave the new world. Also ensure their mental and physical health right after, before getting a detailed report from them about the new world. Looking down on the new world from above might allow us to gain an understanding of the overall situation, but it will not help us understand the exact details of those who enter."

"On it Sir!"

*Knock**Knock*

Kai was awoken by the sound of the carriage driver knocking on the window of the carriage connecting his driving seat and the inside.

"Sir, we have reached Montreal. Should I take you into an inn, or would you like to be dropped off here?"

"Here will do," Kai said as he hopped off the carriage, handing a hefty bag of silver coins to the carriage driver, who happily took it and drove off.

It had been a tiring journey for the past few days, only taking breaks to have lunch and to sleep at night. Therefore, Kai did not mind paying such a high price for transportation. The only thing Kai regretted was that there was nobody to fight along the way. Not a single bandit or monster had blocked the path of the carriage, which was also slightly odd compared to the journey filled with hardship he had had to face when he was travelling to the Bluestone Sect with Pops.

"Well, I guess it is time to get to work," Kai mumbled as he casually walked towards the relatively large town called Montreal, where rumours of immortal beings were slowly spreading.

Although the mission had given him two weeks to complete the mission, Kai had already spent almost 3 days travelling to this remote but rather large and populous town. Considering he had to return as well and report the completion of the mission, he barely had a single week here to spend on figuring out the truth of the matter and apprehending those behind the entire situation.
