"What did you say?" a burly-looking man smashed down his wooden pint on the bar counter and turned his attention to a bearded stout man behind him.
"I said, get your fat-a*s out. I need to teach you some things about life."
"Haha! You? What? Do you think that just because your sister is my wife, I will have to fall to your knees and beg you for mercy?" The burly man stood up all of a sudden, his height towered over the stout man like an unshakable mountain.
*Kpft*
The stout man spat onto the ground in front of the opposing man who turned out to be his brother-in-law, before angrily talking.
"You think you scare me? Ha! I ought to show you the harsh reality if you intend on staying in my family. Boys!"
As soon as he shouted, around 4 other men of similar age as him, clearly his long-time friends, stood up from a nearby table of the bar, backing him up.
Not too long later, a fight broke out in the bar, and furniture was being thrown everywhere. Many of the faint-hearted and those who did not wish to be involved with the brawl had already left the bar.
At this moment, there was a young child in a grey robe, who was casually taking cover behind the bar counter along with the bartender.
"Hey, kid. Take the chance when they are busy with each other to sneak out. This place is not safe for you." The bartender whispered to the young child who definitely did not look old enough to be there.
"Thanks, old man." the youth said as he raised the glass of milk and downed it in one go, before turning his attention from the fight to the bartender.
"Hey, do you know anything about some immortal people here?" he asked with a curious expression.
"Uh…" The bartender, who had been cowering behind the counter afraid of getting injured looked up at the white-haired child with confusion before a smirk appeared on his face.
"Although I am not the strongest or smartest person in town, if it is information you want, I can definitely help you. However, you will have to pay for it." The bartender said in a hushed but confident tone. Based on the child's nonchalant attitude, and his well-groomed appearance, the bartender had assumed he should at least be from a wealthy family, if not from a noble one.
Therefore, he could at least get a few bronze coins from the child in exchange for gossip.
Kai nodded and handed over two copper, before gesturing to the bartender to continue.
"Well, a few days ago, two individuals appeared in the town; one male and one female. They wore no clothes and spoke a language none of us could understand, however, one thing which stood out was the rather ominous symbol of a green arrow floating above their heads."
*Boom*
The thud of a body hitting and breaking the solid wood flooring was heard, but Kai was more focused on what the Bartender was saying, so he ignored it completely.
"Since they were rather suspicious, the guards tried to take them into custody, however, they resisted viciously and the whole situation rapidly escalated."
"Based on what I heard, they were killed after they took 1 patrolman with them. What was shocking was that after their deaths, the bodies of the two vanished into thin air! And not only that, just a few days later, a travelling merchant spotted similar people in the woods, and had even traded some goods with the green symbolled people."
"What was most disturbing, and was also the reason for the rumour about the immortals spreading, was the fact that the ones the merchant had traded with, looked exactly like the ones who had been killed, right down to the finest details."
Ki frowned a bit upon hearing this, however, he still asked.
"Where did the merchant come to the village from?"
"The North. However, some mercenaries claim to have seen the immortals to the west and south as well."
"Thanks." Kai nodded before he slowly crawled out of the bar as the fight raged on despite almost 10 minutes since its beginning has passed, with no end in sight due to the almost evenly matched opponents. One side had 6 men, all around their 50s and stout, while the other had a single man, but this man was doubly the size of any of the others in height, muscle, and fierceness. Coupled with the fact that none of the parties involved understood combat, this was more of a catfight than an actual brawl.
Kai sneaked out of the bar and began making his way south. He had already made a plan to scout out the North first in hopes of finding these so-called immortals. And if he failed, he would then head west and then finally south. If he still found nothing, he would just return to the sect and say he found nothing.
…
"Hey, how long do we have here?"
"About 5 hours more. After that, we will be sent back, and it will take some time in-game for the beta testing to begin."
"Damnit! We have spent almost 3 weeks here, and the only thing we have been able to do is to gain the [Suspicious] title and also have our relations with all NPCs in this country turn to unfriendly, while those in this city had their relations reduced to 'Enemy.' This is just not fair! What is worse is that we cannot leave the area around the city because the revival system is currently restricted to the area!"
"Shh!"
"What?"
"Look" the now clothed female alpha tester pointed in a certain direction where a name was slowly approaching them.
[Kai Dread]
[Title: Fallen Noble, Slaughterer, Bluestone Sect Disciple]
[Lv: 9]
[Information unavailable]
"Huh? What is with the second title? And what is with the rest of his information being censored like that?"
"I don't know. But Level 9 means he is as strong as a trained veteran. Plus, that title of slaughterer means that either he has killed a lot or likes to kill."
"But he is a fallen noble. That is the highest level of society we have met up till now. How about this? I will talk with him, you two go and hide."
The three alpha testers whispered until one of them stood up and walked towards Kai, who had also noticed them, with the yellow arrows hovering over their heads. The bartender had said they were green, but they were yellow now.
However, that was not what Kai was focused on. Instead, he was more focused on the arrows themselves. The arrows were slowly drifting up and down above their heads, and most importantly, if he focused on one point on the arrow, he could make out pixels!
