Within the underground room of the Santok Mage Tower, Yu was finally able to copy down the drawing once after wasting 3 of the five pieces of paper he was given, as well as a day and a half. Since he still had some time, Yu decided to try and redraw the 'magic array' not just more accurately, but also quicker since he had nothing better to do.
Food was being provided to them regularly while sleeping in front of the other youths who were also trying their best to make at least one successful drawing. Therefore, Yu Quietly placed the completed and dried drawing into a pocket within the grey robes he was given as he continued practicing.
Back at the Bluestone Sect, Kai told Fred where he was living, and Fred explained to him where he was living before the two of them split way to return to their temporary dormitories and use the spells they had just copied.
Kai sat down in his room and began reading through all the Rank 0 spells he had, but it was unfortunate that he could only select at most 1 per element, and that was if he wished to block off his path to becoming a Rank 1 mage.
Anyways, after thoroughly studying all the descriptions of the spells, Yu selected 7 Rank 0 spells. For the moment, trying to learn a Rank 1 spell was suicide since he did not have a corresponding Rank 0 spell.
His currently chosen spells were [Fireball] for the fire element, [Waterball] for the water element, [Recovery] for the life element, [Weakness] for the death element, [Stone Spike] for the earth element, and his previously selected [Spacial Blade] for the space element. He had yet to select one from the blood spells since their descriptions, unlike the descriptions from the other spell books, were rather lacking and vague.
With this in hand, Kai immediately got to work trying to memorise the [Space Blade].
He had already learnt the method for learning a spell. Before anything else, one had to memorise the spell structure, which to Kai looked rather similar to what Yu had been practicing up until now, with just one major difference. It had an oddly shaped symbol, which he assumed was the 'rune' that Aaron was always talking about in the centre of the concentric circles.
After learning it, one needed to perform countless calculations and simulations based on pre-set equations, which had already been provided to him by Aaron for all possible elements during his two years of training.
However, he would still take time to learn these spells. At the moment he was in no rush to speed through these important initial steps by using the system. But of course, he also told the system to run the calculations on all of his spells and modify the circles and shapes around the rune to fit his mental space which he performed the task on the space spell himself, just to see what he was capable of.
'Although the system should in theory be able to help me breeze through the learning process, I should still test out my own prowess. Plus, modifying and learning a spell in a single day is not something possible, and it will likely draw too much attention.'
Kai stopped his calculations when it was time for lunch, and as soon as he left his temporary dormitory, he noticed Fred already waiting for him with a grin on his face. Clearly, he was waiting to have food.
"Were you waiting for long?"
"No…"
"Really?"
"Alright fine! I waited almost half an hour. I knew you lived here, but I did not know which room, and I didn't want to knock on every single door until I found yours."
"Makes sense. I am currently in Room 51 of the 2nd building. What about you?"
"Room 12 of the 32nd building."
"Right. Anyways, what do you think is there for lunch today?"
"Is that even a question? I already know. We have roast beef, sautéed broccoli, oats, and fruit juice."
"Again, with the oats and broccoli…" Kai mused out loud as he sighed. These two were things which he absolutely hated to consume out of the menu, not because of the taste, but due to the texture that came with it. What was even worse was that the ones in charge seemed to have it out for him because these two items had been there for each and every meal of his.
Of course, if someone did not like the taste, they could go over to the various stalls set up by students and purchase incredibly delicious for from there; for mana crystals of course.
Compared to that, almost every single disciple would opt for the free food given by the Bluestone Sect, no matter how terrible it tasted.
