"Brown Robed Mage? You mean Sir Maxime? Haha! He is the Vice Sect Leader! Once of two Vice Sect Leaders. As for who the second Vice Sect Leader is… Nobody knows."
"You seem to know a lot about this place?" Kai questioned.
"Of course! You have to do proper research before joining a faction. That is the second rule of business. Of course, the first rule is that money is always right, more than any virtue." Fred said as he pinched his index finger and thumb to form the shape of a coin and winked at Kai as the speed of disciples was finally slowing down.
"So, you are a merchant…" Kai mused out loud, and Fred smiled as he nodded.
*Bam*
All of a sudden, Kai and Fred both crashed into the backs o those in front of them, while those behind them crashed into their backs.
"What's wrong?" Kai questioned.
"No clue. But it appears we have stopped."
"No sh*t," Kai was already a little irritated from being reminded about the butler at the Dread Mansion, and now this was pushing him closer to the edge of blowing up from anger.
However, the people in front of them slowly began to move forward, and Kai controlled his emotions, following behind them slowly.
"Pay up if you wish to enter!" A disciple dressed in grey robes said while facing the crowd of new students. His grey robes were clearly a little faded indicating he had been a disciple here for quite some time already.
"20 Mana Crystals if you wish to enter. Plus, you have to hand us a copy of whatever you copy inside." Another one next to him said.
Kai's frown deepened upon hearing this, as he clearly remembered Sir Maxime saying that they would get free entry for 2 hours. Clearly, this was not what the Vice Sect Master had promised, so it was not the faculty of the Set enforcing this rule.
However, Kai remained silent, just telling the system to record all their faces. He would get his revenge later. At the moment, the Sect did not allow physical weapons in the magic division, and did not allow magical artifacts and spell scrolls in the area for Knights, to allow the disciples in the area to solely rely on their prowess and not depend on things like family wealth.
Plus, these students, having been here for so long, would most definitely have learnt at least a single spell, so Kai might not be able to take them all on, considering that a line of 50 students were waiting at the entrance to the Spell Hall.
"Why should we pay you? Who are you?" One of the short-tempered students yelled out from within the crowd.
However, before he could try and instigate the crowd around him any further, the short-tempered student was blasted in the face with a ball of ice!
Kai, who had been watching from the start to the end was utterly flabbergasted, yet a slight sense of excitement arose within his heart.
'Magic!'
"This is what happens to those who decide to oppose the Frost Troop. Ingrain it into your minds newbies. Now hurry and line up. Remember, 20 crystals as well as a copy of whatever you copy down inside. Else you will follow this idiot to the infirmary."
Hearing these words, Kai immediately understood that despite acting this cruel and imposing, either this so-called Frost Troop did dare to kill another disciple, or that they did not wish to deal with the aftermath. Either way, it meant that there was some kind of law and order here.
However, considering how they were skewing the Vice Sect Master's views to benefit themselves, the law here was not too strictly enforced,' Kai mused as he followed the line, silencing Fred who also wanted to say something offensive to the Frost troop and dragging him along.
Upon reaching the entrance, Kai pulled out 20 Mana crystals of the 100 given to him when entering the Bluestone Sect, and handed it to the older student who appeared to be in his late teens, completely unlike Kai who was just barely 10!
With that, Fred and Kai entered, each 20 Mana crystals short of what they originally had. Meanwhile, Kai also noticed that a few had dejected and frustrated looks on their faces as they turned around and immediately left. They had likely spent most of the Mana crystals on something else yesterday or did not wish to spend 20 Mana crystals to enter the Spell hall.
Inside, it was essentially just a library divided into sections for various elements. Kai looked around and noticed the spell sections; Fire, Water, Life, Death, Earth, Air, and others.
Kai immediately went to the other, leaving Fred behind; who had already gone off to the Earth section.
In the 'Others' Section, Kai located many different elements, however, they were very limited in terms of the number of spells. In comparison, each of the former elements had at least two to three bookshelves of spells, while these elements barely had 20 books per element, with some having even fewer.
Space, Light, Attraction, as well as a few others, were on this single bookshelf. And at the end, Kai located just three books of Blood Magic.
Immediately, he took them and allowed the system to scan them so that he did not need to bother wasting time to copy them. Quickly, Kai moved onto Space Magic and scanned all the books, amounting to 10 books, before moving out of the 'Others' section. Silently however, he had taken one Space Magic book with him which he would copy out and hand to the people outside to provide a sufficiently acceptable outcome for them and not to be singled out from the crowd of leaving students.
From here, Kai moved swiftly to each of the elements he had an affinity in, and skimmed through the names of the books. He did not have enough time to scan each and every one of them, and he was afraid using the scan option that utilised mana to scan the entire area firstly might not reveal useful information, and might alert anyone guarding the area about his antics.
Instead, Kai settled for 10 spells that caught his attention among each element he had an affinity with, and then he would figure out which one he would choose.
Of course, Kai did not stop there and immediately went to the Rank 1 spells on the first floor, and scanned the only blood spell they had, before doing the same for the 2 space magic spells they had. Next, Kai went on scanning 10 of each of the Rank 1 spells for each element before finally settling down to copy the Rank 0 space magic he had pulled out.
2 hours later, he left with two books in his hand, both were copies he had made of the spacial spell [Spacial Blade]. He handed one to the representative of the Frost troop, and so did Fred, who were both allowed to leave after having the book they possessed checked to ensure both were the same copies and that neither of the two was carrying anything.
