Chapter Sixteen
Philip brought me a tray after it got dark. I stayed at Liam's side, monitoring his vitals and watching in amazement as he recovered and looked healthier.
I didn't see Maybelle again that night, and frankly, she seemed like she would just be in my way, so it was okay that she didn't bother to come to check up on Liam.
What an unusual fiancée she was, though.
Liam slept through his towel bath but stirred when I tried to put on a pair of fresh pajamas on him.
Philip wanted to do it, but I considered his age and the fact that I had actually been trained to do such things, so it naturally fell on me by default.
His eyes opened slowly, and they were the brightest blue. I stared for a second.
"Liam? Are you okay?"
He nodded. "I feel so much better."
He changed the position he was lying in, and his eyes fluttered close.
"Thank you, Emilia. I am sleeping easy because I know you are here to take care of me."
