Chapter 3 - (3) Warmth

Miyuki and Konan were on their way home. They both chatted with pure delight on their fine afternoon. Their bags were left filled with a variety of heavy books. Nonetheless, both of them never seem to break a sweat.

"My place is there." Reminded Konan while they stopped walking. "Hahaha, I know, I know." Miyuki said.

"Goodbye!" Konan waved. "See ya!" Miyuki waved back, with a wholesome smile.

The ladies went back to their respective homes serenely. The calming wind blew while the sun was blocked by the heavy, grey clouds. Miyuki noticed and rushed to her household as if it was about to rain. She came inside the house and closed the door. Only to find out that her mother was sitting at a chair in the kitchen, peacefully drinking tea.

"I-I'm home!!" Miyuki stuttered. "Oh...? Welcome home, sweetheart." Her mother's soothing voice reached out to her with a warm greeting. "Good noon! I'll be going upstairs, now." Miyuki reminded her mother. "Miyu? I think someone has left you with a letter, please open it up, hehe." She asked right before Miyuki started to make her first step. "The envelope is at your room." Reminded Miyuki's mother. "Alright, thanks mum." Miyuki showed her gratitude and went upstairs to her room while having mixed thoughts whether she should be excited or not.

Could it be an invitation to another school? But... I've already attended one today... And I've already borrowed the books I took, today. She said inside. Trying her best to not get her hopes too high. She sighed.

The door gently opened. The envelope was laying there at Miyuki's desk. She then closed the door as she sighed and sits at her chair while she puts down her bag on the floor near her bed.

"W-what...? WHAT!?" Miyuki screeched in shock of the very sighting she behold to. "C-COULD THIS BE A LOVE LETTER?" Her hearts beats fast, nearly skipping a beat as her face turned red. "Let me... Let me open this letter." She tried her utmost best to calm herself down.

She opened the letter and felt grave disappointment in the end. The letter never seemed to contain anything. Not even a single paragraph was written, nor a word. Thus, made her felt very stupid for herself. Her tears began to slowly flow down to her cheeks, like a raindrop flowing down from the glass pane of one's window.

"Miyuki? May I come in, darling?" Her mom gently knocked Miyuki's door. "O-oh... Yeah... Come in." She replied with a shrieking voice and quickly wiped her teary eyes.

"I'm sorry, Miyuki. I gave you the wrong letter." Her mother apologized as she opened the door. "It's right here. Please take it. It's from your cousin who lives in Hokkaido."

"Oh, no. No. It's okay mum." Miyuki accepts her mother's apology and took the letter from her hand. "Thank you!"

Miyuki's mother then noticed of her daughter's swollen eyes. Leaving a worried, concerned emotion inside. "Mum? Is something the matter?" Miyuki asked as her tears remained hidden.

"Have a good noon, sweetheart." Miyuki's mother greeted once again and hugged her as if she once setted her eyes upon one of the most precious daughters a loving mother would ever have.

It's... It's warm. I feel like... I want to stay like this way forever. Miyuki said inside. As her heart eases as her negative emotions began to wither away.

"Yoshi-san... Where were you?" Sora asks with a tired face as he finally started his call with his friend, Hideyoshi.

"Dang! I had some... Uh, important business, yeah!" Hideyoshi's voice answers through the phone.

"What? More than school?" Sora questions again. "Y-yeah... I have to go now." Hideyoshi replied.

"Okay, I'll see ya later. Goodbye!"

"Bye bye!"

The call ended.

The grey clouds continuously formed as they almost covered the entire sky. However, raindrops were still yet to be heard nor seen.

"I think it will be a good time to rain, now." Sora thoughts as he sat on his chair and calmly glanced through his window

Drops fell from the clouds,

Droplets heard from the rooftop,

In these rainy days,

Prepare a nice beverage,

As you gaze through your window.

The rain made Sora's, if not. The other room's more colder. He then sips his hot coffee he prepared on his desk while he enjoys the scenery of trees and plants receiving the rain's water.

Suddenly, he shed a tear, without noticing. Not until the glass pane on his window reflected himself. Leaving him of a sudden thought on his mind. Who is that girl I've met today? He spoke inside.

He began to feel warmer later on, nonetheless of the cold air due to the rain. "It's... Warm." Sora was relaxed of the very easing sensation. "Maybe this wasn't a bad day, after all."

"Thank you." His day then went really well that he expressed his finest gratitude, alone.

Night has approached and the rain began to slowly stop as the day went more silent as usual. Sora flawlessly ironed his school uniform, leaving himself a hint of relief. Knowing tomorrow he would go out with an even more smarter uniform which led him to have an even more motivational mood. "Alright, last but not least." Sora took out his tie from his wardrobe and sprayed a small amount of water to the tie after he placed it on top of an ironing board, coated with an old, but still usable blanket.

He turned on the iron and gently started off on the top of the neck tie. "Ouch!" Sora shrieked out of pain. "Man, I should've been more careful." He sighed as he held his index finger. "I really burnt myself there." Sora commented.

"Let's continue." He proceeded to keep on ironing his tie, for the sake of preparation tomorrow in school.

Sora turned off his room's lights and left a small lamp that shined a dim of light next to his desk after ironing his neck tie as he prepared his most comfortable sleeping position.

He laid back, leaving himself with a thought of his two dear friends, Hideyoshi and Aishi. If they'd finally come to school. Sora couldn't reach out to Aishi, not because he couldn't call her. But of the thought that perhaps, everyone could be busy in their lives, anytime. After his recent call with Hideyoshi this afternoon.

"Heh. I'll see you guys later, then." Sora's eyes were then shut. "Goodnight." He said to himself.

But... Who is that girl that I met this morning? Why am I thinking of her, now? Sora's heart spoke out. As another tear was shedded, left unnoticed.
