Chapter 1 - (1) Ties and Bonds

From a store stretched to clean and tidy houses we can see a young boy going out to the streets, on his way to school.

"I shouldn't have slept late!!" Sora shrieked in regret after making such a terrible choice. "If I don't make it in time the teacher will kick my ass!!"

Sora's puffy eyes were barely opening, like a boy who hasn't been getting enough sleep. Running to school with an unironed uniform. This was never the best way to prepare for any upcoming occasions.

Sora Shimazaki, a second year in Highschool, from class 2-A. The teachers were both impressed and satisfied with his performance in class, despite his lazy attitude.

He finally reached the school's building as he felt his wait for ease. Sora then rushed to his class with his filled bag, having the thought of his friends waiting for him.

creak...

Sora opens the door with pure silence. "Good morning... Everyone." He greets the whole class and crept to his seat, pretending it was just another ordinary day in school. "That's good, that's good. Hehe." He was relieved.

Writing has always been a favourite hobby for Sora. It is also a good reason why he joined the literary club. Where pieces of poetry are valued with great care. Spending time with his fellow literary club members happened to be not only one, but two close friends, Hideyoshi Nobuko and Aishi Fuji. The three chaps were nothing more than strings that can be tied back together, even after multiple cuts. They truly reassemble a healthy and strong relationship towards each other.

The club itself had developed and a variety of poems were written by the poets themselves. However, not only poets joined the literary club. But, young writers and so do small authors were welcome, too.

Not for much longer after Sora's arrival, their homeroom teacher, Mrs. Hanako finally stepped into the classroom. The class representative quickly stood up and bows.

"Good morning, Mrs. Hanako!" She greeted him respectfully. "Good morning, Mrs. Hanako!" The attendants stood up just as the class representative greeted.

"Good morning, my students." Mrs. Hanako, showing a calm expression.

The whole class sat down, facing the board. They were nervous and their hearts were beating as quickly as an athlete's heart.

"Ah, before we start. Shimazaki-san? May I ask you a favour?" She held back, facing Sora's face. "I need this board to be cleaned up."

Sora continued to write his haiku after the class sat on their chairs, only left for him to figure out another 5 syllables. "Hmm... And my last line..." Sora's attention was not paid. "Shimazaki!" Mrs. Hanako's voice went high as she crossed her arms.

"Ah! I'm sorry!" Sora quickly stood up from his chair and bows, realizing he dropped his favourite pen as he sincerely apologizes.

"Please, clean the board for us." Mrs. Hanako said. "It would be nice if you do so."

"I'll get it on right away..." Sora respected his teacher's order and went in front with the classroom's eraser board. Swiftly and steadily he cleaned as he felt foolish of himself.

"Alright, class. Let us begin." She commenced the learning session right after Sora finished cleaning the board.

"Man... Where did that pen go?" Sora asked himself silently as he went back to his usual seat.

Lessons were recapped off last year after the students' introductions. The entirety of the class was all full of cinnamon rolls. At least for most of them.

"All of you are dismissed." She decided to end her teachings, there. "Please hand in all of your work on time." Reminded, Mrs. Hanako, while leaving a satisfied impression on her face. This made some of the students in class feel a hair of relief, even when they had their doubts. "Thank you very much!" They sincerely thanked her.

Shut!

Not until the teacher left, there remained only silence, an awkward one indeed. Although, this did bother some of the students in class that some went to head out first. Without hesitation, Sora went ahead as well, blending with the crowd, on his way to his very beloved literary club.

It was barely crowded in the hallway. He tends to avoid such eye contact with people as he walks down the corridor. As the shy person he was. He'd try to not let his anxiety get the best of him. Just like most of the time, Sora acts and also minds his businesses as if outer problems never existed.

At the end of the hallway, around the corner. Sora finally arrived at the literary club. Although, the door was still left closed, it was never locked in the first place, too. So, he took that one opportunity and went inside.

The door was opening and it creaked slowly. Surprisingly, no one was at their tables, yet. "Hmm... I'm sure we're gonna have our club lessons, today." Sora said, making a straight face.

He wandered around the club room having nothing better to do but wait for the other expected participants. He was so bored that he ended up sweeping the floor with the club's broken and messy broom.

He was looking for even a lot of dust inside the drawers. Until he found himself a missing diary that was left in someone's besmirched drawer. It was left open at a specific page. Although, the desk had very scribbled handwriting that even Sora couldn't read. He tried to understand a few of its contexts. And most of them reassemble many filthy insults. Somehow, this gave him an uneasy feeling. The feeling of empathy.

He continued to investigate the desk. Suddenly, the door opened as Sora startled. He took both his eyes and attention upon a female student that seemed to be his age.

the young brunette had fair skin, she was wearing a very neat uniform. Apart from that, her eyes were cloudy and she seemed to have an uneasy expression from her face.

"Please, write anything you want on my desk." The girl said, as she took a marker from her bag. "But give me that book." She tried to bargain with him. However, this was never his intention to begin with.

"No, no." Sora refused as he took out her diary inside the drawer. "Please, take this back with you." Sora humbly showed and handed back her very long awaited diary to be passed back as he lowered his head, respectfully.

"A-ah... Thank you." She took her diary back from Sora's hands very gently. "This book, meant a lot to me. Surely, you didn't open it, right?"

"I never intended to go from the first place, anyways." Sora explains. "But, your diary was left open. So, my eyes couldn't help but-"

SLAP!

"Y-YOU JERK!!" She exclaimed as Sora took a small, but deadly slap from her, ending up having a small bruise on his left cheek. "OI, W-WHAT WAS THAT FOR!?" Their loud voices were almost heard, the next room made a few of it's students rather felt very irritated.

"Hey."

A dark figure made its appearance as it happened to be passing by the hallway, only to find two students quarrelling in the same room.
