Xana immediately shook her head to the absurd request of Old Tim. She had just come back from school.
"Stay in Acorn village forever, nunca!" She, Old Tim and Bill were at his blacksmith and she released the news of wanting to move her business outside Acorn village.
Old Tim and Bill were heartbroken at her words and they begged for her to stay.
"This is a temporary stop. My starting point is the sky!" she said not minding the others expressions.
"Yes, we shouldn't say such things. We should celebrate instead." Bill cheered up after sometime making Old Tim feel better.
Xana smiled. "It's okay."
"There is a restaurant around, the Phoenix Feast restaurant. Let's dine there tonight." Old Tim paused. "Invite those youngsters too. They are part of the team."
Xana laughed expressing her approval. In the beginning, she just wanted to use Acorn village as her stepping stone but she had started to have feelings towards the people around her. Though she still felt something missing in her heart, something she needed to take care of, but she had decided to live the day as it came. Her friends, Lucas, Old Tim and Bill, these were her family now. Those ones from before shall be uncovered, she thought.
"When are we leaving?" she asked.
"It's still too early. Let's leave by evening." Old Tim answered.
There were three hours till four o'clock.
"Real friends would go fetch their friends early." Bill nudged Xana who wanted to start working on a blueprint, another project.
He sighed. 'These two friends of his were just workaholics.
"She could go later. Right, Xana?" asked Old Tim.
Xana shook her head and decided to go now. Old Tim's glares made Bill shrink like an armadillo.
...
Eyes opened to a dark and blurry space. The being wielding the eyes walked forward with a fixed destination in mind. As it walked, blurry people were talking amongst each other but there were different groups around. Some were cooking, some fighting some talking.
The figure continued to move.
"Very well, boy. You're improving." the figure stopped to look at one of the people. It was a man talking to a teenager.
"Guardian Don Esau." the figure muttered and continued it's journey. It passed numbers and numbers of people who were literally fragments of the past.
After five minutes or so, it stopped once again at a fragment.
There were two teenagers talking happily when suddenly, an arrow flew past and shot one killing him. The horror and pain on the other teenager's face was tear-jerking.
"Stop watching this." a deep voice sounded behind the figure. "You are alive now."
The figure turned around shock now visible on its face. "Lucifer? I haven't called you yet."
Lucifer looked at Miles. "Revenge is what you seek, replaying the past would just slow you down." he grabbed his hand and walked forward.
Lucifer stopped at another fragment. There was a man and a teenager talking. The teenager was Jackson.
"I need the vial today." Immediately Jackson said that, he turned with shock when he noticed someone behind him. It was Lucifer as a past fragment who walked in. His brows were furrowed in suspicion.
"What vial?" he asked and Jackson regained his composure.
"What kind of question is that? How's it your business?" he retorted.
Fragment Lucifer and real Lucifer smirked. Jackson's eyes did no effort to hide the fear he felt.
"I'll deal with you one day, when I have proof of your doings." Lucifer said and Jackson just scoffed.
"You see that man he was talking too?" Lucifer asked in Miles' ears. Miles tried to hold his shiver in.
The man had sneakily run away while the two were bantering.
"Follow him."
Miles and Lucifer walked quickly following the man as he ran. Soon, they reached an abandoned building.
"This place is far from the training grounds." Miles said.
"Yes, and this building is what one of the world's most dangerous assassin built at his peak. He is retired now but vagabonds use it as a site to accomplish disgusting acts. Example, collecting money to kill."
Miles' eyes narrowed in anger. It was very obvious now that Jackson had payed that man for a vial of poison. That must had been the poison the arrow that killed him was bathed in.
Miles squinted his eyes, he wanted to kill that guy and immediately grabbed a dagger from a fragment nearby and rushed towards him. But, Lucifer's words stopped him.
"You can't kill him just like that, Miles. Killing him would mean that he never gave Jackson the vial and you were never shot. It means you never died and never transmigrated."
Miles stopped dead in his tracks. He turned slowly towards Lucifer.
"Then what's the use of all this? To watch my adversaries living happily? And killing me over and over and over again?" he almost screamed.
Lucifer walked closer to him. "There's a way to do this things, silly. I would never want you reliving this experience again."
Miles lowered his head guiltily. 'Of course, he would never give him that ritual for this. I should be calm and listen'
Lucifer, seeing that the boy was calm and collected, started to speak.
"The ritual of the past enables one to travel back to the past and view actions that happened. Naturally, nothing can be changed." he paused and smiled.
"But you see, the instructions have a loophole. One cannot change anything that would affect the course of events."
Miles eyes slowly brightened.
"I can kill him, but Jackson doesn't care about the death of the man, all he wants is the vial, therefore I must also deliver the vial to him one way or another."
Lucifer smiled. "Make sure you know were the vial is before you kill that man."
He watched as Miles ran into the building following the man. Soon, he came out holding a bag. He waved it at Lucifer.
A thumbs up was sent to him.
Miles' eyes squeezed in happiness and he ran towards the Training Ground. Jackson was sitting on his bed in the hostel reading a book and tapping his feet. He dropped the book on the bed in impatience and prepared to look for the vial man.
As he got up, he did not notice the vial kept on his drawer by seemingly no one. He walked towards the door and then turned around for no reason. His eyes widened as he saw the vial on the drawer next to the window.
'These guys are quick and efficient. I didn't even notice his aura.' Jackson thought.
"Miles, I'm really sorry, but I have no other choice. Ha Ha Ha!" he laughed maniacally.
"You'll kill him too. One day." Lucifer's hand wrapped round Miles who was seething with rage.
Lucifer waved his hand and everything disappeared. They appeared back at the space they always met at.
Miles looked up at him. "I was wondering, if I died last time quite quickly because I knew your name, why am I not dead now? As Lucas, I mean."
Lucifer's brows pulled together in confusion.
"I also do not know. Perhaps, the person who knows my name only dies once, and never again. Or maybe you are just different?"
Miles laughed. "Yeah, or maybe I'm different. My fearless soul saved me."
Lucifer burst out laughing.
