The night was quiet except for the noises of the crickets and lights from the fireflies. Xana laid on the grass as she admired the dark blue sky filled with twinkling stars.
The day had gone very well and everyone was probably sleeping at this hour. But she was up. The feeling that she was missing something didn't stop haunting her.
Suddenly, an image flashed in her mind. She was in an enclosed and cold room which was all white. Nothing could be seen except the skies as the roof was transparent.
Xana widened her eyes as she sat up from the grass. Why did she feel like she had been in that room for almost forever?
...
Inside a tall building shaped cylindrically, the top floor held officials who looked anxious and jittery. The question asked by High Father Jasper Herald had put them all on the edges of their seats.
The one who asked this question was relaxing on his throne, laughter and a little bit of bloodlust in his eyes.
The huge doors opened and a young man walked in. Or...used metal spider legs to. Half of his face was robotic and his other human eye had codes running round its pupils.
"Son." The deep voice from the throne sounded. All the officials bowed in reverence.
"Son Theo José." They all greeted. This young man was the son of the High Father. He looked like someone in his twenties but he was actually a sixty three year old man! The medical advancement in the current earth gave results no different from eastern fantasy novels.
Son Theo José was around when his father was stripped of his position as the ruler of the earth by his closest mate. Now, his heirloom was being shared by weak and puny humans around the globe.
He walked towards his father and sat on another seat near him. The High Father turned to him.
"Son, the special humans. Two have escaped. What do you think?"
The Son's eyes widened. 'Escaped? Those subjects are needed for my father's rise in power. They are needed for me to rule the earth!'
"Puny humans thinking they are smart." he scoffed. He turned towards his father.
"They will be punished when we get them back. Such disgusts don't deserve to be in the new world."
The High Father smiled and looked at the officials.
"I seem to remember that the batch those missing special humans are from was kept with a scientist, Leon, if I do remember his name well. Its been three months since they got missing. Has the said scientist been questioned?"
"Yes! You fools kept on harping on how that shitty scientist Leon was very amazing Eve though he was an Area B citizen. Do you now see the results of your foolishness?" the Son asked I displeasure.
The officials cowered before them.
"High Father, Son, we will question him immediately. Infact we would bring him here for you to question him properly."
"Utter disrespect! You want my father, High Father Jasper Herald to question a puny human personally?!" the Son screamed at them.
"No, their work make sense. The scientist would never be able to lie to us while enduring my pressure." High Father Jasper Herald said with a smile.
All the while, the officials were thinking of how narcissistic the High Father is and how arrogant the Son was. Some of them shivered inwardly at the fate of the special humans.
The high father was going to absorb their essence through a method that enabled the intelligence quotient and abilities if the special humans to enter him. That was cruel. It was the new world. Such acts were banned. But, who were they before the High Father? Who could stop the High Father? By the way, some of them didn't mind sacrificing a few humans for their gain. Even though it was the new world, the wickedness of man's heart had not mellowed down.
In Area B, a weirdly clothed man sat on a chair browsing through the virtual net. Lord Doctor Leon. The event some days ago was like a fleeting wind for him. He was the most treasured scientist in the whole of Area B. Mostly because he was assigned here from Area A by the High Father himself. This was why the other scientists and cream of the top treasured him so much, the High Father was an existence they could only dream of seeing.
That day, during the event, a junior scientist told him a news that brightened him up. He claimed that the transmitter for Parker 3000 had blinked. Immediately he heard that, he made sure the scientist was sure of his words and quickly ran to his office to check. The other scientists struggled to inform the audience that all was well.
Leon entered his office, almost tripping on the microscope near the door. He had never moved it from there and always knew where it was. But today, he totally forgot everything else but Parker 3000's transmitter.
There it was, blinking red over and over. The battery had worn out so the light was dull. How many years, months and days? He was still alive. But then, where is he?
He immediately found out after tracking him. The transmitter led him all the way to the past. So far away from the current world that the virtual screen couldn't handle it anymore and broke down. Before that, he managed to find out that it was in a village, it's name, he couldn't capture.
He began to trace the village in the current world. It wasn't under the jurisdiction of the High Father and his son. It was not in Thidas.
Somberhay. The most advanced country on planet Earth.
The scientist leaned back on his chair while stroking his chin. 'Very well, if he is over there, then I don't think I should worry too much.'
Back to present.
As he sat, eyeing the transmitter for Parker 3000 regularly, a knock sounded.
"Who is it?"
An anxious voice sounded from outside.
"Doc- Doctor the envoys from-" the voice got cut there.
Leon furrowed his brows. 'What is happening?' As he got up, his door slammed open and three men in black leather outfits came in. They were all tall and stern looking. One of them took the lead.
"Dr. Leon, we have been given an assignment to bring you to report at the High Father's tower."
Leon's eyes shot open wide. 'The High Father? What, what have I done wrong?'
"Please." the envoy said gesturing at the door. Leon walked out, jittery. He saw a scientist knocked out on the floor next to his door. He raged.
"How dare you hit a scientist!? Especially in front of my office! Do you not know how important he is? People like him are the reason you are as amazing as you are today."
The envoys looked annoyed. This scientist was not to be roughly handled or they would have made him unconcious and brought him back, and now he is scolding them.
"We warned him not to announce our presence. He did not take us seriously." one of them said.
"But that is his job. You think he would listen to the words from strangers?"
"Can we just go? This mission is to be completed quickly." the first envoy said with impatience.
Leon swallowed his anger and walked out of the building into a retro-mission vehicle. These lowly officials were getting too proud. They had all forgotten who he is in Area A and B.
Leon did not appreciate the attitude of the High Father, but he had to meet him. The ruler.
A journey that would have taken over and hour in the former Earth, took just fifteen minutes. Such speed was unrivaled. It was inevitable that there were people that suffered from motion sickness so the envoys handed Leon pills just in case.
Leon's nose scrunched. 'Dirty pills. I am the great Lord Doctor. My health alone can rival any other person's. Why would a puny speed stop me?'
When they reached the boundaries of Area B, a teleportation device was activated and they all disappeared to Area A, the High Father's tower.
Leon looked up at the cylindrical building. Then he remembered. 'Those special humans. Those two I saved.' Leon's breathing quickened.
