It was not easy at all for his cousin to live under the bad name of his father and sister. Edward's mum was just a stay-at-home wife. Nothing to be proud of nor worry about.
Ronald kept on thinking about the news he received about Acorn village. Thinking of that place, a face appeared in his memory. Lately, it's been very hard for him to think straight without remembering that beautiful yet nightmarish face.
Deanna, her name was somewhat strange, somewhat cute.
He recalled the way she blatantly took money from him with so many reasons.
'Emotional damage, tsk.'
"I'll be heading to Acorn village tommorow."
His assistant was shocked. "Boss, again? You've gone there a number of times already. You do know that a small village like that isn't your priority."
Ronald looked at his assistant.
"You know nothing, young lady. Pack my things and bring them to the car. Close up." He said after looking at his watch. 8 pm.
The next day.
He was quite excited to see the amazing technology, even his driver wondered what was going on. His legs kept shaking in the car.
Hours on the road passed and soon the driver pulled over at the village chief's house.
Max was relaxing on a chair eating pancakes as a flashy car stopped in the compound. His eyes squinted.
"Only one person could this be. What is Sir Ronald doing here again?" he muttered to himself.
He snapped his fingers at a nearby worker and told him to call his dad. The worker nodded.
Max kept on eating his pancakes, relishing it as he licked his oily fingers, almost forgetting that there was a visitor in the compound.
"Maxwell." a voice sounded. Max looked up and saw his father.
"Dad, you've got a visitor." he could not even finish his words as his father started scurrying towards the car whose residents hadn't alighted.
Max's mouth twitched. 'Boot licker. Well, isn't that needed for us to survive in this village that the government has abandoned?'
His sister soon came outside the very time that the village chief was leading the esteemed guests inside.
"Sir Ronald? What is he here for?" she whispered to her brother and wrinkled her nose at the disgusting acts of her brother licking his fingers.
"I don't know."
"Well, whatever it is, wait, what is Deanna doing here?"
Max looked up and saw Xana walking into the compound with Sean.
"Hi!" she greeted.
Sam and Max greeted back. "Anything? Or did you just come to see my handsome face?" Max cradled his face with his palms as he spoke.
Sam secretly vomited. 'What is wrong with him?!'
"Shut that trap of yours!" Sean inwardly raged.
Xana laughed and walked closer to Max. Her face was so close to his that his face turned red and his eyes widened.
"Yeah, I missed your handsome face. It gives me sweet dreams every night." she whispered.
'More like nightmares.' Sean thought, a dark cloud hanging over him.
Xana backed up and watched Max who was still floating in euphoria. The guy wasn't yet back to his senses.
She giggled and Sam slapped her forehead. 'Just what is going on among my friends?'
Sean tapped Max's cheeks over and over to bring him back to reality.
The lovestruck boy shook his head when he repeatedly felt the pain and awoke from his daydream. Remembering what just happened, his cheeks burned.
"Can we get back to the main point? Dean, why are you here? Is there a problem? Or are we going out?" Sam asked.
Xana just shrugged. "We just created the fourth miracle. Come see it."
"What?!" the siblings shouted in shock."Okay, okay, let's head out. Go, go go."
"We have made two pieces of it for now." Xana explained as they walked.
Soon they reached Old Tim's house. He welcomed them and took them to his backyard.
Sam instantly gasped. Max's jaw dropped.
"What is this? It's like a machine monster." he said.
Sean was shocked too but his emotions were always in check. They walked closer to the plough with Max tailing them.
" What does it do?" Sam asked.
"Help farming easier. Cultivation, planting and harvesting." Sam nodded at that brief explanation.
After they sat in the living room, Sam remembered something.
"Right, do you know that Sir Ronald is around? He came just before you visited."
"What for?" Sean asked.
"That's what we do not know." Max responded. "Maybe he knows how awesome our village is now with Xana in it." Everyone laughed but we're interrupted by Bill rushing in.
"Gasp, gasp, Deanna, gasp, the village chief and the politician wish to see you."
"What? What for?" Sam asked. She felt unsettled.
"Come on, let's go see what they want."
The village chief was still shocked at the request of Sir Ronald.
"It's a great honor to have you here again at our village, sir."
"Mmm, it's nothing. This is my responsibility. If I do not, who will?"
"Ha ha, yes. Your words shed light on the truth. Is there anyway I can help you sir?"
Ronald scoffed internally. "Well, yes, I do need your help."
The village chief was ecstatic. "Sure, sure, anything I can give."
Ronald leaned back on the uncomfortable wooden chair.
"I hear rumors of the three miracles. Shockingly, they originate from this village. I just wanted to see the creator."
The village chief laughed out loud. 'The fame that Deanna has brought to us!!'
"Well, my esteemed guest, you do know that such information is confidential. This is about the glory and uprising of our village."
"Ronald would not be a politician and be so dense to understand a blatant request for bribe, so he beckoned on a henchman and a briefcase filled with notes was open before their eyes.
The village chief's eyes bulged with shock. High denomination notes lying peacefully in the black briefcase. He immediately nodded his head at Ronald and received the briefcase.
"It's a student called Deanna Page. She excels in science and technology. The best in the school and the creator of the three miracles, the heart rate monitor, the safety alarm and recorders." he gave his amateurish description.
Ronald nodded slowly his blank expression hiding the shock inside of him. 'That girl, again?! What's this all about?!' he thought in amazement.
"I want to see her." he straight away ordered. Now that he had given a large sum to the village chief, there was no need to be polite any longer.
