Leon's heartbeat quickened as he recalled all about the special siblings.
He was, at first, just an assistant scientist who served under a prestigious one. His name was Lord Doctor Melvin Sanders.
Melvin Sanders was one of the first groups of scientists to be awarded the title, Lord Doctor. Also, special humans were born in his time.
He had a close friend who was also awarded with the Lord Doctor title.
Curtis Leonard Wood.
One day, on a peaceful afternoon, while they worked in their lab, Melvin Sanders noticed that his friend didn't seem to well.
"Is there a problem, Curtis? You look quite the unsettled one."
Curtis heaved a sigh and turned to his friend.
"What would you do if you have to make a decision that would cost your job and save your family?" he asked. Melvin furrowed his brows.
"Is there anything you are hiding from me? Well, I would always put my family first, but you know our job, it must be our number one priority."
"I'm hiding something from the Board of Scientists (BOD). I want to keep my family safe, but I am conflicted.
My children are special humans."
"What?!"
"Yes, my wife just gave birth to our second child. He is a special human...just like his elder sister."
"You are not serious! You're telling me that Xana's also a special human?!"
"Reduce your voice, would you? I didn't mean to hide this, but we both know what the special humans are for."
Melvin's expression changed. "You're stupid, my friend. These special humans are for our breakthrough. We only had three before, but now, your children would increase the number!"
Curtis' eyes turned red. "How dare you even think of that? Those are my children. They take you as their godfather."
Melvin laughed out loud. "It's not like you can't have children in the future with sister in-law, right?"
Curtis shook his head. "Never." Another laugh sounded.
"You have no say in this, my friend. Come on, let's continue with what we were doing."
Curtis was conflicted now. All his loyalty was to the High Father who gave them the new world. Of course, he'll want him to gain control of the entire world. So why was he hesitating?
"I don't want them bullied or treated unfairly. I want them to enjoy their time on Earth." he said to Melvin.
"Sure, sure, what are friends for? To put you on the right path and support you, of course.
I will personally take care of them."
Curtis sighed in relief. His daughter was now a year and six months. Once she's two, he'll deliver her and her brother to the BOD.
Melvin was satisfied with the outcome. He told Leon, his assistant, about their discussion.
Leon felt bad, really bad. He didn't understand how a father would willingly give up his children. But he couldn't do anything about it, or could he?
Seven months later, two children were admitted into the special humans ward C, headed by Lord Doctor Melvin.
Curtis didn't know what to tell his wife not children about why he was taking their kids there. His wife kept on questioning him and his daughter, who was just too smart for her age, was too.
He decided to tell them this.
"Melvin misses the children."
His wife was speechless.
"Then he should come over. I'm not letting my kids out of my sight. Venus is only half a year old."
This wife of his was really strong willed. An attractive point of hers, but right now, he did not want to deal with that.
"Lora, I'm taking the kids with me to my organization. Is that too much to ask for? They are my children to, you know?"
Lora gave in.
"Fine, I just want to see them every weekend."
Curtis agreed.
Venus had his own nursery and Xana did too. Their dad did fulfil the promise to their mum, so they only left the ward four times every month for six years.
Xana was literally the most intelligent and smartest child on Earth. Her fame was throughout the entire science community, though most of the scientists had never seen her face or her brother's who was rumoured to be in control of time.
Xana sat with her brother in the dining room. They were only allowed to see each other a few amount of times a day. This was a rare and treasured moment.
Her brother was now six and was always playing with hourglasses, zodiac sign charts and compasses. He pulled a lot of tricks on the caretakers and doctors earning him the troublemaker title.
These days, she just sat around reading whatever her hands could come upon. Books on psychology, geography, history, mining, medicine, robotics and all the rest. As she read, she mastered and she taught her brother.
Their doctors did not bother reducing their voices when talking about confidential information as they saw them as just kids.
The scariest were the kids. They did not know that.
All these went on till she and her brother decided to escape from the organization. Inwardly, they waved goodbye to their parents and decided to start gain their fortune. To get back control of their lives. They escaped all the way to Area E.
All was going well. They had an underground organization dealing with robotics, mechas, drones and others. They were well known in the underground world.
Till their 'precious' disciple entered their lives.
Xana was heartbroken when she saw the actions of Virgil. But, she was older, her brother mattered more. So, she opted to go back to the Scientists organization instead of her brother.
In there, she stayed till she was twenty, earning a name for herself. All the special humans were allowed to live their lives freely as long as they were within the walls of the organization.
"Crash! Bang!! Boom!!!" Her office exploded from the shockwaves from the nearest lab.
She kept on hearing her ears buzz, the silence deafening.
"Sister! Sister! Xana!!! Look, look listen to me. Wake up, okay?"
Unknown to her, days had past with her in that state and her brother forced his way in.
Venus sighed heavily. His sister couldn't die. Not now! Not ever! He was working on something to keep them living forever.
There was only one way.
"You'll go sister. You stayed here for me, now I will for you. Fix everything, will you?"
Xana nodded, her head spinning with his words. She got off the bed with Venus' help and she saw a magnificent portal.
"It's a time portal. I need your help to transfer your soul to the past."
Their hands locked as Venus chanted in an ancient language unceasingly. Bright light glowed covering them as a mini Xana left her body.
Venus let go of her hands and placed her gently on the bed. He turned to the transparent human form and smiled. It also smiled and flew towards the portal.
"Bye, sister, I'll wait for you. We'll bring these scumbags down together."
The portal closed on its own once Xana's soul entered it and he picked up an hourglass on the floor.
"Sister." he sighed while looking at Xana's body.
...
"Intruder! Intruder!" the red lights in the organization blasted and exploded immediately after.
Venus smiled as he escaped with his sister's body in his arms.
"I'll get my revenge some day. And rescue all my friends."
