Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 (An Unexpected twist)

Rainer could bearly sleep due to the loud footsteps of the guards, who passed her cell with touches and weapons. She wondered what was going on but she was too tired to care. But as the noise grew louder Rainer began to feel scared, not for herself but for the brown-haired man. As the loud murmurs and small shouts outside the dungeon grew louder her heart became heavier.

Rainer became alert as she listened to the noise. The people in the cell began to cry out for help, asking someone to let them out but no one seemed to care. Rainer's heart began to race with every moment that passed, but still, she kept her cool.

Rainer was prompted to get up from the floor when she saw a flash of light that was coming in her direction. The figure was wearing a hooded cloak that covered his entire body, and when the figure was close enough, he began unlocking her door.

Rainer stepped back a little bit, creating space between herself and the figure. The door of the cell finally opened, and the figure walked in quickly, removing the hoodie from his head. Rainer realized she had been holding a breath she didn't know she held when she saw the familiar face looking at her.

"My goodness, I thought you got caught while helping me," Rainer said, sounding relieved.

"I'll explain everything to you, but first we need to leave from here; we are under attack," he said quickly, removing something from under his cloak. He pulled out Rainer's spell book and another hooded cloak, handing them over to Rainer.

"Take this and wear this so one would recognize us as we escape,"

Rainer didn't think twice after hearing his plan; she quickly wore the cloak and held her spell book in her hand without asking any questions.

With that done, Rainer and the guard began their escape, but they could not teleport because of the yellow stones that were hanging on the wall. So they walked their way out of the dungeon. But as Rainer passed the cells, she was shocked to see a few of her classmates who were also in the grand hall with her. "What was happening, and why were they locked up? Rainer knew that her stepmother was the one behind all this but the question remain, Why?

The people in the cell looked at Rainer with pleading eyes. Those were the same people who looked at Rainer as a freak but now Rainer could see the shame and desperation in their eyes.

Rainer promptly stopped in her tracks, quickly snatching the cell's keys from his pocket, then moving towards a particular cell that contained a weak and tired-looking girl who had a shocked look on her face upon seeing Rainer unlocking the cell door.

"What are you doing, Rainer?" The man's eyes widen in shock.

"Releasing the prisoner," Rainer answered in a matter-of-fact tone. The man sighed and massaged his temples as he watched Rainer unlock the cell door.

When Rainer was done unlocking the cells, she saw the man looking at her with admiration in his eyes. "I'm glad we found you," he said, confusing Rainer with his words, but as Rainer was about to ask him what he meant by that, he began leading the way to the exit.

As they got closer to the exit, they saw a few dead guards lying on the floor. She could hear the chaos that was taking place outside becoming louder; this made her a little anxious, but she walked further, pushing her fears behind her.

As they got out of the dungeon, Rainer felt her legs grow weak with the sight before her. Turn body parts of people were littered at every corner of the school hall; there was blood splattered everywhere—on the wall, the stairs, the floor, and everywhere else.

But that wasn't the scariest part of it all. Not too far from where they stood, there was a huge beast that was ripping and shredding one of her teachers, who was stranglingly wearing a black cloak. He screamed in agony as the beast tore into his flesh. With her own eyes, she watched how that gray wolf—no, it was not a wolf; it was four times bigger than a normal wolf; it was a beast. She watches as the beast rips the person to nothing.

Rainer was frozen by the sight before her, but she was pulled back to reality by a loud, ear-piercing scream from one of her mates among them.

Unfortunately, the scream pulled the beast's attention toward them. The beast looked at them with its blood-red eyes that screamed of blood loss, and it began to growl loudly, exposing its long, sharp canine teeth that were covered in blood. Promptly, the beast and other beasts that were covered in blood began raging toward them.

Everyone in the group ran in different directions for their lives. Rainer could not move from her sport despite the fear she felt, but thankfully, the man with the brown eyes helped her by the hand and she began running.

They ran as fast as they could, but it was like the beasts all decided to chase after them after all. The beast was getting closer to them with every step they took. Rainer managed to pull out her mini spell book, and thankfully the first page she turned to contained the very spell she wanted.

She quickly cast the spell, and immediately all the items that lay on the floor flew toward the lycans; her little stunts only slowed them down a little bit but didn't stop them. Rainer was never the best at casting spells, but she was great at combat, though she doubts that her moves would have any effect on them.

As they ran out of the school, the brown-haired man suddenly left her hand and began running towards the lycans; this made Rainer immediately stop on her track as her eyes widened in shock and fear.

"Rainer, run!" he yelled, but Rainer could not possibly leave him all alone; he was the only person who was there for her when she was in trouble, so how could she just leave him now all alone? Rainer's eyes began to tear up as he kept telling her to go. She wanted to protest, but seeing the pleading look in his eyes hurt her heart.

"I'll be okay." "Please just run," he said, saying that he ran towards the lycans, who were already closing in on them. With a heavy heart, Rainer ran towards the woods.

The rain began to fall hard on Rainer, making her feel even more sad and angry at herself. All the words people had ever called her began to ring in her head: weak, useless, a waste of space, and worthless. All those words and more began ringing in her mind.

Rainer fell to her knees as she remembered everyone she had lost—first her mom, then her dad, then Tony, and now the man whose name she forgot to ask for. Slowly, all the pain she had ever felt turned into anger, not at anyone but at herself.

She stood up from the ground and began to make her way to the junior's hostel, but when she got there, she saw the whole building in flames. Her heart shattered into dust as she saw the flames going up into the sky. She had lost Mindy. Tears began to brim in her eyes but she quickly shook her head in denial. Mindy's magic and spells were far stronger than hers, so that means she must still be alive.

Looking around, she saw her fellow students and some teachers fighting the Lycan, the sight was horrific but it gave her hope that her sister was still alive. Rainer ran towards her grandmother's house, with the hope that she may know a way to stop all of this.

Rainer ran as fast as she could, but all too soon she halted on her track when she saw Mindy burning a Lycan to death. Mindy was covered in injuries; she had a deep wounds on her leg and palms. Mindy snapped her head at Rainer, ready to burn her, but when she realized that it was Rainer and her legs gave away.

Rainer rushed toward Mindy, holding her as tight as she could and allowing her to cry in her arms.

"Shh, don't cry, everything will be alright. Look at me, Mindy; Rainer urged, "nothing would happen to us. We would even find Ariel and Aria, but first let's go to Grandmother; she would know what to do."

"Ra-Rainer, grammar is... I went there to find her but... Rainer pulled Mindy into a tight hug, already knowing what would come next.

"They're all gone,"

The sorrow fell harder on both siblings as they grieved the loss of a loved one, but Rainer's time pacifying Mindy was cut short. We're three beasts that are coming their way, with their eyes on them. Rainer wanted to cast a spell, but before she could do that, Rainer felt something hard hit her head with great force taking away her consciousness,

**

Fluttering her eye, Rainer woke up in a room that wasn't hers, in a long white dress that resembles a wedding dress. She abruptly sat up but her hands were chained together. Her mind then went back to what had happened a few hours ago, all the blood, the loss, and Mindy, upon remembering her sister Rainer stood up and went to the door but it was locked.

Looking around the room she found her spell book. Promptly she dashed towards it picked it up and ran to the bathroom. She leaned her back on the door and quickly began flipping through the pages of the book, then cast a spell in the cuffs and her book, making a duplicate of the book and weakening the cuffs on her wrists.

She hid the original book under her puffy gown, picked a shaver, and quickly made her way to the bed, dropping the fake book on the same spot the original was and laid back down.

Soon after the door of the room opened and two guards walked in. They stopped looking at the sleeping girl on the bed, then looked around the room, one of them sniffed the air as if sensing something wrong with the air.

" What's wrong?" One of the guards asked,

"Nothing, I thought I smelt magic,"

"I thought so too but we don't have time, the alpha doesn't like to wait,"

Saying that both men held Rainer by the arm ruffly and pulled her up, not minding if she was asleep or not. Rainer went with the flow by pretending to be shocked and confused.

"What is happening? who are you? and why I'm I in a wedding dress?" she asked but no one answered.

She walked out hurting all over, chained like a prisoner, and drag into the hall that was colored red with blood and with body parts littered everywhere that made the air hard to breathe. The hall was so silent that one could hear a pin drop. All eyes were on her as if she were a criminal but she wasn't, the truth was that she was the one being wrong but no one cared, all they wanted was for her gone.

Finally, she stopped in the middle of the hall. Before her was her only family who was on her knees with a knife on her throat, her life was at the mercy of the man behind her who won't hesitate to end her. She's just a child she screamed as she was the blood that trickled from the small wound the sharp edge

of the knife caused.

Standing not too far away was the only person who helped her through all this hell, looking all bloody and bruised. Large droplets of tears began pouring down her cheeks. He didn't deserve this. Now the Queen came up together, with the alpha who had just killed half of their kind without remorse.

"She is the one, take her," she said pointing at the girl who didn't know what was happening.

The alpha looked at her from the crown of her head to the soul of her feet with dissatisfaction.

"Is this all you have to offer?" he said with his voice colored with mockery.

"You can also take the younger one," The Queen said coldly.

"No, she yelled at the top of her voice, trying to break free from the strong grips that held her back. you can't do this to her she's just a child, she screamed but all her struggles were in vain. With her own eyes, she watched as her little sister was taken by those beasts. Her sister yelled for help but no one could, no one dared to. Anger ran through her veins as she shot the alpha a deadly glare.

She broke the cuffs that were around her wrists and swiftly removed the sword that was fasted by the side of one of the warriors who held her and swung it to the alpha.

" Die," she cried in hate and pain, but the sword didn't hit the alpha, despite the speed it flew with the alpha still dough her attack effortlessly.

Rainer cried out in pain as one of the warriors hit her between her shoulders making her fall to her knees. The man with brown hair rushed from the ground and began to struggle upon seeing Rainer in that state. While the alpha had a wicked smirk on his lips upon seeing the fire in Raine's eyes.

"What a feisty little girl," he said licking his lips, "Bring her," he spoke, then he looked at the brown-haired man and waved his hand, signaling his death.

Rainer who was being dragged to the alpha quickly turned her head toward him. Her eyes, widened as she saw one of the lycan warriors brought his claws and slit his neck. A loud scream tore through the silence as she watch the man choke on his own blood.

Seeing the blood and how he struggled to survive, something in Rainer snapped and soon she began to scream a certain name.

"Kylan!, Kylan!, Kylan!!!" She called out in a loud voice.

The alpha gave her a tight slap making her fall to the ground, with tears pouring down as rain. He picked her up again, holding her tightly on her jaw bringing her closer. But Rainer was quick to move behind the alpha and placed the shaver on his neck.

Seeing this gasp escaped the mouth of the witches and all the lycan began to growl at her but Rainer was not moved.

"Stay back or else I swear I would slit the throat of your alpha," Rainer threatened but the lycans didn't seem to hear her words so she added more pressure on the shaver which cut through his flesh,

"You are going to regret this little girl," The said pulling the shaver from her hand and throwing it to the floor. "Now what would you do now sweat heart," her asked stepping closer towards her,

"Nothing, just leave it up to me," a voice rang through the room sending shivers down every once spine as a cold breeze blew in the hall and suddenly the door of the hall opened and a man with gray eyes and long raven hair that was tied up walked in with three other men walking right behind him.

"That's my bride,"
